Oc it streets were unusually quiet on the
morn ng after the election. The Republi
cans kept their holes. . The vote received
at this polls was an index for them, as to
the probable result ol the vote throughout
the county.
With the exception ol a few little squab
bles, which grew out of soma misuiider-
afarwfinae nolilica'I V. the election DassPit
off romarkably quiet, in this place. Capt.
Whisky was on hand, ready to do his mU-
chief ; bat he was not allowed much sway
and those better acquainted.wkh him seem
ed to shun the tangle foot.
Robert F. Clark, Esq., is a pretty clever
fellow, "and all that," bat he cau'l goto
Congress this time. A year or two ago he
would have made a much better run in this
coun'y. The Democracy owed him a debt
for the labor done last Fall, which little ac
count I'ley squared off, principal and inter-'

course next time, Eli !

Abolitionists the morning niter the election!
They knew nothing, nor made no inquiries
respecting the election, luey were com

was a large battle, one in which Andy Cur

the j;roond was warmly contested by the
disputants. The troops in the balile out

UPSET, AGAIN !
Not having a cut of an Abolitionist or a
negro, we use the " same old Coon," as a
substitute, expressive of the Republican
party npeet again ! The "Old Coon' looks
fat : just out of the meal tub; but as we
havo got.him down, it won't be long before
he will be reduced to hi condition prior
to stepping into office; which cat below is"
a fair representation of hia Coonship.
Tbe old coon was rauch reduced both
physically and morally, but through a streak
of most extraordinary good lack he came
in power under the name of ' Republican,"
