Tm Republican Convention held at this
place on Monday last was a complete fizzle.
- We were present, tot we did not deem it
..necessary to ''lock op our pocket book,"
for two reasons : first, there was no great
amount in it; second, there was noiso mar y
Delegates present at the Convention but

Mr. Paper! is a fa-b;onble tailor and a good
workman. He is deserving of a liberal pa
tronage, which, we have no doubt, he will
receive.
Coetri The attendance a: Court thin
Veek. so far, is small. There is no great
amount of business to be disposed of at this
term. The Commonwealth suits are few
two or three. Those person, bound over
for riotously assaulting one Wm. Eyet, a
' few weeks ago, were not tried. Their trial
has been put off by the District Attorney.
The list of civil causes is light for this term.
Not over one half on the calender will le
tried Tbj lawyers axe not disposed to
. bnrry matters, consequently there will be
? bat little business done at this Court. Tie
Dee. Term is generally the tanners term
of iL season. Proceedings in our next.
DsAmsc Some of the stay-ar home pa
triots in this place are in much tribulation,
ferT. they pvpM r enhi in driH.
One poor tellow who has been extremely
active in urging others to enier the army,
has already procured a substitute, who is
to receive S16 per month provided he goes
in tt at capacity. Another gay chap who
has heretofore prided himself on his good
look arud. healthy appearance, since the
'enrollment beaa has had decided symp
toms of piImonary disease. Others whose
"ages have been ranging between the "thir
ties" for.- some diteen year past, have sud
denly grown from five to ten years older
within a few days, and now sta e that they
are m the shady side of forty-five. These
!ayat home patriots are de.erving of com
miseration. Poor fellows ! could rot oir

Intel'igencer.
Di:pott Marshals hae been buily en
gaged the pat week in this county enroll
'ing alt able bodied citizens' between the
"ages of 18 and 45 for the 'par pose of pre
' paring .for the draft which' is sure to come;
aoooer or later. It has been put off till the
15th inst., at which time, from present in.
!ica ions, will take place. Our people
"shock! be prepared for this, in order that
they may te ready to leave, and obey the
law, when they are once drafted. There
will be no such thing as resisting the draft
in this county ; at least there should not te
'any resistance to H, This county .is ever
'loyal, patriotic and law-abiding. Her citi
zen obey and respect the laws.

Dr. John don't like cheering for the Con
stitution as it is and the "Union as it was.
'la hi last issue be complained of the late
Democratic Convention because they
'cheered for the Constitution and the Union.
He, it appears, was preheat ; and the Dem
ocracy cheered to heartily that it probably
effected his head, judging from his article.
Aoy man that finds fault, grumbles, cr ran
ttoi cheer for the Constitution as it is and
the Union as it was is a traitor at heart let
Ijira be Dr. John or who he will.
- We understand that the workmen of the
Pectsylvania Iron Company' works, who
;are subject to being drafted into the army,
ire lorming themselves into an association
for the pnrposebf providing for the families
of those who will be compelled to gr
