The lonely sentry walking hi rounds at

SOLDIERS ATTENTION!!
Sea to your own health, do not trust to
the army scpplie although most valaable.
These Fills and Ointment have been thor
oughly tefied, they are the only remedies
used in the European Camps and Barracks,
for over forty yeara Dr, Holloway has sup
plied all the Armies in Europe, and during
the Crimean Campaign he established a
depot at Balaclava, for the exclusive sale of
these great remedies, many a time hi- ape
cial agent there baa sold over a ton in weight
of the ointment in a single day. These
terrible and fatal enemies of the Soldier in
Camp, DIARRHEA, TYSEN TARY, SCUR

ease, place in their hands these precious
remedies, lhat will enable them to resist the
dangerous exposures, the Fevers, the Chill
and the wounds which they cannot avoid,
and what is more cannot frequently get suc
cor in the moment of need, whereas if our

into their Knapsacks and find there a sure
remedy for all the casualties of the battle

a Single Thread,
It forms a neat, ever., and elastic seam,
which is warranted not to rip in wear, even
if the seam in cut at frequent intervals, and
also under all circumstances "to survive the

A Patented device of great utility to
learners, prevents the possibility of the ma

the balance wheel wearing a lady's dress.
Another feature which deserves particu
lar attention is EP"THE WILCOX PATENT
NEEDLE CANNOT BE SET WRONG.
Two thousand Stitches, or two yards of
work, can be done in one minute without
dropping a stitch.
These Machiaes, so simple and accruate
in their construction, supersede the use of
the shuttle; and with one thread produce
all the practical results of the two thread
machines; ar.d more, for these lell without
basttni, and hem the finest musliu without
puckering.
Although-at about half the price of the
other first class machines, they will accom

"It is emphatically the good, low priced

"Has combined with its own peculiar

of the higher priced machines." Pennsyt.

"This machine, in the opinion of the
committee, fills more nearly the require

"Taking into consideration limplicity,
cheapness, durability, and doing all work,
the committee were unanimous in favor ol
the Wilcox & Gibbs as a single tbrerd ma

Society's Repon.
"We must, in Justice, express our confi
dence in the merits of the Wilcox & Gibbs
Sewing Machine. We consider that a great
desideratum has been supplied by it, in
proving, beyond coubt, that two threads are
not, as was supposed, necessary to a cood

To be assured of this, it is only necessary
to make the trial. The Wine itself is f
a very superior quality, being about on -ih'rd
stronger than other wines; warmina
and invigorating the whole system from the
head to the feet. As these Bitters are tonic
aud alternative in their character, so they
strengthen and invigorate the whole sys
tem and give a fine tone and healthy action
to all its parts, by equalizing the circulation
removing obstructions, and producing a
general warmth. They are also excellent
for Diaeaies and Weakness peculiar to FE
MALES, where a Tonic is required 16
ttrengthch and brace the system. No Lad .',
who is subject to lassitude arid faintne,
should be without them as they are reviv -fying

,As a Beverage, they are wholesome, in
nocent, and delicious to the taste. They
produce all the exhilaraving effects of Bri n

a valuable remedy for persons addicted to
the use of excessive strong drink, and who
wi.-h to refrain from it. They are puie i no'

in the adulterated Wines and Liquors with
which the country is floo-fud.
These Bitters uol only CURE, but PRE

.' RAYMOND'S jiFAMlLY k:
S EWING MACHINE!
PATENTED MARCH 9, 1858.
' ' ' "TRICE $10 ECIK
Vf ESSRS.ZUPPINGER & ROBBINS, of
Bloomsburg, having purchased the ex
clusive right of the above valuable Impro
ved Cheap Patent Sewing Machine, for
the County of Columbia, will be happy 10
supply their friends with the article for the
accommodation of themselves and families
The following are some of the superior
advantages tbis implement possesses, viz:
1. It sews from 400 to 600 tight stitches
per minute.
2. Double thread Machines aie from the
more complicated character of their mech
anism invariably managed and threaded
with more or les difficulty ; not so with
RAYMOND'S, a child can manage it ir. two
hours, and it is threaded easier thaa a com- "
mon needle.
3. One of the most valuable features of
this Machine, is the smallness and the
compactness of its mechanism.
4. It can be attached to a board, (able or
stand, in operating order, and removed in
less than half a minute.
5. It greatly economizes the thread, and
yet produces a seam, sufficiently strong for
any work for which it is intended, a qual
ification not known to all kinds of Sewing
Machines.
6. No human hand is capable of produ
cing a seam so regular and systematic.
The eam is so strong if well done, that the
stronger material will tear before the
seam will give way.
7. Among the array of Pa'enl Sewing
Machines, ihere are none so cheap ami
durable as Raymond's Patent, but no Ma
chine is adapted to all kinds ol work as
expeience has proven. There are perhaps
none so realy useful, doing such a variety
of wore for the immediate use of the fam
ily circle, and at such a moderate price as
RAYMOND'S PATENT.
8. The operator can shape his seam just
as he pleases, waves, leaves and flowers,
etc., can be represented or imitated.
9. It is particularly adapteu to all kinds
of stitch icg such as gentlemen's shin,
bosoms, ristbands, collars, etc., and all
kinds of ladies' sewing, including silks,
lawns, delaines, calicoes, dusters, etc., ex
cepting for men's heavy wear, this Machine
is rather too light of conotruclion.
(0. But we all admit, that ihe advantage
lo health, and principally to the vision or
eyesiuht, i no rued by the use of Sewing
Machines, surpasses infinitely all oiher ad
vantages. il. This Machine fastens the seam al
ways itself, but if the operator wishes it
unfastened or open, there is a way for it
too, thus you can have it fastened or not,
as you please, which is, sometimes, espe
cially for beginners, a very favorable cir
cumstance. If the seam is left unfastened,
you can draw it out in three seconds and
save the thread.
For sale by the undersigned, at their re
spective residences, in Bloomsburg, who
will put the Machine in operation and give
all uecessary instruction.
