Wednesday Morning, Blay 8, IS61.
Oca friends at Harrisburg", will please
accept onr thanks for Legislativedocuments.
The Legislature is still in session.
Wf? regret fo slate that Col. V. II. Eut,
was taken ill on Thursday 'last; and has
since been confined to his room. He was
elected 1st 'Lieut, i.i the company which
bade this place adieu oti Tuesday last, for
'Harrisburg.
:Coubt is still in session. The Common
wealth suits were all disposed of by Tues
day afternoon, and he Grand Jurors were
discharged on the same day. To day,
Wednesday, "'will be the last day of this
term from present 'tppearaucea. We will
give a synopsis ot the proceedings in "ttr
best. The young man who was lying in
Jul under the charge of rape was found
guilty in manner and foim as he was indict
ed. He has not yet received his sentence.
He will lead a life of solitary confinement
in the Penitentiary at Philadelphia hereaf
ter for a term of years Two other per
sons were convicted of theft, who will,
all probaoility, receive the same treatment
in proportion to the crime as the first men
tioned. Thc American Agriculturist, for May is
a capital number. Its articles are prepared,
if weay.judVe from the ring of them, by
men of considerable agricultural experience
It is a practical publication, exclusively de
voted to the interests of the farmer, dealing
out information most liberally upon all sub
jects pertaining to the tilling of the soi'.
We would say to our iarmer friends who
desire a publication of this kiutt, take (he

NkwJoods. We would announce to our
readers and the public generally that our
young friend, Jacob II. Creasy, has estab
iithel himself at the Hand of late Joseph
Cearhart. in Cattawissa township, where
he hast just 'received an excellent assort
ment of spring and summer merchandize,
from the eastern cites. He invites the
public to call and examine his goods to be
satisfied that be is ab'e to sell to as good an
advantage if not better than yofc can pur.
chase elsewhere.
Ocr military company paid a visit to the
town of Buckhorn on 'fact Satardsy, where
they were most sumptuously provided for,
and 'most hospitably entertained during
the tay. The citizens of'tbak place and
vicinity brought and returned the company
with wagons. From what we can learn the
company spent the day very agreeably, and
all returned well p'eased with the visit.
Wi notice both our up town cotempora
'ries are boasting and speculating over their
fancy type and facilities in general for exe
cutitg job printing. They have said so
much in the way of bringing their exten
sive assortment rl type into notice that
'there is not much left for us to say. But we
would add that we'have a display of type
'and borders (fancy and plain) which will
favorably compare with any in this place;
and father that there is a person in our office
who can execjte a ' piece of work neater,
"cheaper and quicker ihan can be done at
either of the offices above referred to. For
fall particulars and satisfaction, rend in a
.job of work.
Just Arrived. Our enterprising friends
and fellow. townsmen, Messrs. Mil'er &
Eyer, has just received a large and varied
stock of new spring end summer merchan
dise. They have a handsome lot of goods
and no mistake. The ladies department is
well filled, everythhvg they would wish.
There is one thing in connection with the
whole matter which they do nol'ciVe to be
kept a secret, ard that is, they are prepared
to sell goods a little cheaper than hereto
fore, and probably to a better advantage to
lie customer than elsewhere. Call in at
, the " Old Arcade," and take a view of their
stock and obliging salesmen. Ladies won't
lorget. Advertisement next week.
Departure uf oar Military.
Capt, Ricketl's Company left this place,
on Tuesday morning last, for Harrisburg in
'the presence of some two thousand-citi-
zens of Colombia county. They were ta
ken by Wm. Coleman, on canal boat,
accompanied by the Bloorasbarg Cornet
Band and a good number ot our citizens.
The company was composed of a lot of
coble young men, all of whom appeared to
be in good spirits. They were well provi

spared do pains in making these men com
fortable. Eervick Cosslitntional Gnards.
