HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT.
. BAD LEGS, BAD BREATS, SORES
AND ULCERS.
AH description of sores are remediable
by the proper and diligent use of this ines
timable preparation. To aitmpt to core
bad legs by plastering the edges of the
wound togtheris-a folly.; for should the
kin unite, a boggy diseased tiondition re
main underneath to break oat with tenfold
fary io few days. The only rattonanl and
successful treatment, as indicated bv nature,
is to redoce the inflame. ion io and about
the wound and tc soothe the neighboring
parts by-robbing in plenty of the Ointment
as salt is forced inlo meai.
DIPTHERIA, ULCERATED SORE
THROAT, AND SCARLET AND
'OTHER 'FEVERS.
... Any of tbe above diseases may be cured
by well rubbing the Ointment three times
a day into the chest, throat and neck of the
patient ; it will soon penetrate, and give
immediate relief. Medicine taken by the
mouth must operate upon the whole sys
tem ere it influence can be felt in any lo
cal part, whereas the Ointment will do its
work at once. Whoever tries tbe ongoent
in the above manner of the disease named,
or any similar disorders affecting tbe chest
and throat, will find themselves relieved as
by a charm.
PILES, FISTULAS, STRICTURES.
Tbe above class of complaints will be
removed by nightly fomenting the parts
with warm water, and then by most effect
ually rubbing in tha Ointment. Persons
suffering from these direful complaints
should lose not a moment in arrestinz their
progress. It should be understood that it
is uol sufficient merely to smear the Oint
ment on the affected parts, but it must be
well robbed in for some considerable time
two or three times a day, that it may be
taken into the system, whence it will re
move any hidden sore or wound as effect
sally as though palpable to the eye. There
again bread and water poultices, after rub
bing in of the Ointment, will do great ser
vice. This is the only sure treatment for
females, cases i cancer in the stomach, or
where there may be a general bearing
down. '
INDISCRETIONS OF YOUTH ; SORES
AND ULCERS.
Blotches, as also swellings, ueo, with
certaicty, be radically cured if the Oint
ment be .used Ireely, and Pills be taken
nigbt and morning as recommended in the
printed instructions. When treated in any
other way they enly Jry op in one place
to break out in aaoiber ; whereas this Oint
ment will remove tbe humor from the sys
tem, and leave the patient a vigorous and
beahby being. It will require lime with
the use of the Pills K ensure a lasting cure
DROPSICAL SWELLINGS, PARALYSIS
AND STIFF JOINTS.
Altbeos! the above complaints differ
widely in. their origin and nature, yet they
all require local treatment. Many of the
worst cases, of each diseases, will yield in
a comparatively short space of time when
this Ointment is diligently rubbed into the
parts affected, even after every other means
have failed. In all serious maladies the
-PriU-miOuld be taken according to the di
rections accompanying each box.

the obstructions which make
disease. A cold settles somewhere in the body, and ob
structs Its natural functions. These, if not relieved,
'react upon themselves and the surrounding organs, pro
ducing general aggravation, suffering, and disease.
While iu this condition, oppressed by tbe derangements,
take Ayer's Pills, and see how directly they restore the
natural action of the system, and with it the buoyant
feeling of health again. What is true and so apparent la
this trivial and common complaint, is also true in many
of the deepeated and dangerous distempers. The same
purgative effect expels them. Caused by similar obstruc
tions and derangements of the natural functions of the
body, they are rapidly, and many of them surely, cured
' by the same means. None who know tbe virtues of these
Pills, will neglect to employ them when suffering from
the disorders they cure.

RAYMOND'S FAMILY
S E W I N Q MACHINE !
PATENTED MARCH 9, 1858.
PRICE llOKAril.
jlf ESSR3. ZUPP1NGER & ROBBINS, of
Bloomsburg, having purchased the ex
clusive right of the above valuable Impro
ved Cheap Patent Sewing Machirte, for
the Couniyof Columbia, will be hippy to
supply iheir friends with the article for the
aocornmodationof themselves and lamilies.
The following are some of the superior
advantages ibis implement possesses, viz:
1. It sews from 400 to 600 tight stitches
per minute.
2. Double thread Machines aie from the
more complicated character of their merh
anism invariably munaged and threaded
with more or lees difficulty ; not so with
RAYMOND'S, a child can manage it in two
hours, and it isjhreaded easier than a com
mon needle.
3. One of the most valuable features of
this Machine, is the smallness and the
compactness of its mechanism.
4. It can be attached to a board, table or
siand, in operating order, and removed in
less than half a minute.
5. It greatly economizes the thread, and
yet produces a seam, sufficiently strong for
any work" lor wtucn it is intended, a qual
i heat ion not Known to all
Machines.
kinds of Sewing
6. No human hand is capable of produ
cing a seam so regular and systematic.
The ream is so strong if well done, that the
strongest material will tear before the
seam will give way.
7. Among ihe array of Patent Sewing
Machines, there are none so cheap and
darable as Raymond's Patent, but no Ma
chine is adapted to all kinds oi work as
experience has proven. There are perhaps
none so Tealy useful, doing such a variety
of wore for the immediate use of the fam
ily circle, and at such a moderate price as
RAYMOND'S PATENT.
8. The operator can shape his seam just
as he pleases, waves, leaves arid flowers,
etc., can be represented or imitated.
9. It is particularly adapteu to all kinds
of stitchicg such as gentlemen's shirts,
bosoms, ristbanJe, collars, etc., and all
kinds of ladies' sewing, including silks,
lawns, delaines, calicoes, dusters, etc., ex
cepting for men'sheavy wear, this Machine
is ralher too light oi construction.
10. But we all admit, that the advantage
Io health, and principally to the vision or
eyesight, iniiaced by the use of Sewing
Machines, surpasses infinitely all other ad
vantages.
11. This Machine fastens the seam al
ways itself, but if the operator wishes it
unfastened or onen. there is a way lor it
too, thus you can have it fastened or not,
as you please, which is, sometime., espe
cially for beginners, a very favorable cir
cumstance. If the seam is left unfastened,
yon can draw it out in three seconds and
save the thread.
For sale by ihe nndersigned, at their re
speciive residences, in bloomsburg, who
will put the Machine in operation and
ive
all necessary instruction.

Dollars, 520,000 was in my Mill whicb
was destroyed on the n'ght'oi the 27th of
July, 1860, and passed through the fier1
ordeal unscathed. The Safe was on the
second floor, and fell to the basement of
the Mill, and was subjected for six honVs
io an intense heat amonz the "ruins, whicb
was greatly increased by the Combustion of
a large quantity of grain confined within
I the brick walls. After the fire the Safe was
openec and tbe books and papers taken on:
in a state oi periect preservation, tbe pa
per not even being discolored. This fact
was, however, to many, bystanders a bet
