HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT.
BAD LEGS, BAD BREATS, SORES
AND ULCERS.
Alt description of tores are remediable
by ibe proper and diligent ore of this ines
timable preparation. To attmpt to care
bad legs by plastering the edges of the
wound together is a folly ; for should the
skia unite, a boggy diseased dondition re
mains underneath to break oat with tenfold
fury in a few days. The only rationanl and
successful treatment, as indicated bv nature,
ii to reduce the nflama. ion in and about
the wound and tc soothe the neighboring
part by robbing in plenty of the Ointment
as salt is forced into meat.
DIPTHERIA, ULCERATED SORE
THROAT, AND SCARLET AND
OTHER FEVERS.
Any of tbe above diseases may be cored
by well rubbing the Ointment three times
day into the chest, throat and neck of the
patient ; it will soon penetrate, and give
immediate relief. Medicine taken by the
month must operate upon the whole sys
tem ore its influence can be felt in any lo
cal part, whereas the Ointment will do its
work, at once. Whoever tries the nngnent
in the above manner of the disease named,
or any similar disorders affecting the chest
and throat, will find themselves relieved as
by a charm.
I'lLES, FISTULAS. STRICTURES.
Tbe above class of complaints will be
removed by nightly fomenting the parts
with warm water, and then by most etTecl
aally rubbing in the Ointment. Persons
saffjring from these direful complaints
should lose not a moment in arresting their
progress. It should be understood that it
is not sufficient merely to smear the Oint
mer.t on tbe affected parts, bnt it must be
well robbed in for some considerable time
two or three times a day, that it may be
trfksn into ihe. system, whence it will re
move tiny bidden tore or wound as effect
ually as though palpable to the eye. There
agtin bread tnd water poultices, after rob
bing in of the Ointment, will do great ser
vice. This is the only sure treatment for
females, cases of cancer in the stomach, or
where there may be a general bearing
dovn.
IN DISCRETIONS OF YOUTH ; SORES
AND ULCERS.
Blotches, as also swellings, neo, with
cettaic'.y, be radically cored if the Oint
ment be used freely, and Pills be taken
nig bt and morning as recommended in the
printed instructions. When treated in any
other way they only dry up in one place
to break out in anoiber ; whereas this Oini
rnent will remove the homer from the sys
tem, and leave the patient a vigorous and
healthy being. It will require lime with
the use of the Pill to ensure a lasting cure
DROPSICAL SWELLINGS, PARALYSIS
AND STIFF JOINTS.
Although the above complaints differ
widely in their origin and nature, yet they
bit require local treatment. Man) of the
worst cases, of such diseases, will yield in
a comparatively short space of time wbn
this Ointment is diligently robbed into the
parts affected, even alter every other means
l ave failed. In all 6trioue maladies the
Pills shoold be taken according to the di
rections accompanying each box.
Both the Ointment and Pills should be used in
the following cases :
Aroe.

Messrs. EVANS & WATSON :
Gentlemen The small size No. 'l Sala
mander Sate which I purchased from your
agent, Mr. Adam K. Barr, in Lancaster City,
on July 20th, 1858, has been subjected to a
very severe test, which it withstood in a
most satisfactory manner. This Safe, con
taining all my books, tcgether with valua
ble papers belonging to myelf and eome
to my neighbors and friends, and repre
senting a value of over Twenty Thousand
Dollars, $20,000 was in my Mill which
was destroyed on the n'ght ol the 27th of
July, 1860, and passed through the fiery
ordeal unscathed. The Safe was on the
second floor, and fell to the basement of
the Mill. "and was subjected for six hours
lo an intense heat among the ruins, which
wa greatly increased by the combustion of
a large quantity of grain confined within
the brick walls. After the fire the Safe was
opener and the books and papers taken out
in a state of perfect preservation, the pa
per not even being discolored. This fact
was, however, to many, bystanders a bet
ter recommendation ot your Safes than
could be expressed in , any other words
from me.' 'Yours Respectfully,
SAMUEL RANCK.

dollars, tor which I feel thankful.

M1
ESSRS. ZUPPINGER & ROBBINS, of
Blootnsburs, having purchased the ex
clusive riht of ihe above valuable Impro
ved Cheap Patent Sewing Machine," for
the County of Columbia, will be happy to
supply their triends wiih tne article ior me
accommodalionof themselves and families.
The following are some of the superior
advantages this implement possesses, viz:
1. It sews from 400 to 600 tight stitches
per minute.
2. Double thread Machines are from the
more complicated character of their mech
anism invariably manacd and threaded
wiih more or less difficulty ; not bo with
RAYMOND'S, a child can manage it in two
hours, and it is threaded easier than a com
mon needle.
3. One of the most valuable features of
this Machine, is the smallness and the
compactness of ils mechanism.
4. ' It can Be attached lo a board, table or
stand, in operating order, and removed in
less than half a minute.
5. It greatly economizes the thread, and
yet produces a seam, sufficiently strong for
any work for which it is intended, a qual
ification not known to all kinfis of Sewing
Machines.
6. No human hand is capable of produ
cing a seam so regular and systematic.
The seam is so strong if well done, that the
strongest material will tear before the
seam will give way.
7. Among the array of Pa'enl Sewing
Machines, ihere aro none so cheap and
darable as Raymond's Patent, but no Ma
chine is adapted to all kinds ol work as
expe'ience has proven. There are perhaps
none so realy useful, doing eurh a variety
of wore for the immediate ose of the fam
ily circle, and at such a moderate price as
RAYMOND'S PATENT.
8. The operator can shape his seam just
as he pleases, waves, leave" and flowers,
etc., can be represented or imitated.
9. It is particularly adapteu to all kinds
of stitchicg such as gentlemen's shirts,
bosoms, risibands, collars, etc., and all
kinds of ladies' sewing, including silks,
lawns, delaines, calicoes, dnsters. etc., ex
cepting for men'sheavy wear, this Machine
is rather too liht ot construction.
10. But we all admit, that the advantage
lo health, and principally to the vision or
eyesight, induced by the use of Sewing
Machines, surpasses infinitely all oiher ad-
vantages.
11. This Machine fastens the seam al
ways itself, but if Ihe operator wishes it
unfastened or open, there is a way lor it
too, thus you can have it fastened or not,
as you please, which is, some'ime., espe
cially for beginners, a very favorable cir
cumstance. If the seam is left unfastened
yon can draw it out in three seconds and
save the thread.
