Oca attentive members at Harrisburg, both of the House and Senate, have our thanks for documentary favors. All Kinds of Job Work executed at this Office with neatness and, despatch, and up on the most reasonable terms. We are prepared to print from a small card up to a reasonably large sized poster. Ox Monday morning last, Sheriff Snyder started for the ' Eastern State Penitentiary, with the young man who was sentenced for a term not exceeding one year, at our las: regular Session of Court. Gen. George Washington Morrison Nntt, the small dwarf -travelling through the country as a rival of Gen. Tom Thumb, will exhibit in this place on Thursday (to mor row) afternoon, in the Court Honse. Those who look to their interest adver tise with us. Our paper is no: only gaining an extensive circulation but has already one that will compare favorably with any country newspaper. Attention is directed to the new advertisements in this week's paper. Cheap John (not Dr. John) has opened rooms a few doors above our office where he is felling goods at enormously low pri ces.' He is an itinerant gentleman going from one town to another and selling a good many articles of merchandise. Th length of the proceedings of the Democratic State Convention has excluded from oor paper to-day its usual Tariety. The proceedings of this Convention are worthy of all the space they occupy and a careful perusal. The Original General Tom Thumb, will itit this place on Saturday next, and give two exhibitions, in the Court House, in the atternoon and evening. 1 his may be the last opportunity our citizens may have of heeing Mr Thumb, especially the original and we would say go and eee him. Revival Meeting Our Methodist friends in this place are still holding a revival meeting in their church, which is being at tended with good success. Fifty oiie have J a'ready connected themselves with the rhnrch. The deny and Members have labored faithful for nearly two months, and they have the satisfaction of seeing that iheir labors have been rewarded. An editor not a thousand miles from this . i r .l... i i t , , i . ,,.ai .ut. co.umn suouiu not l-e crowded out under any circumstances We have seen fome columns appear that might as well have been dispensed with, at least as far as the general local interest was carried out. We localize when there is p.mieih'ng worth' of attention and space in our paper; and not for the name of lo calizing do we keep open such a column. Stores, shops, and so forth, wishing to be puffed must come down ! In Speakiso of the P,iter, the Reading Jfiiy Leader says the publishers of this periodical, an excellent monthly newspa per devoted to the interests of the "Ar. preservative of all arts," offer as a a pre mium, a Job Printing Office worth S 1,1)00 to i the fortunate individual out of 5,500 ad vance paying subscribers, to whom a re sponsible Committee may award it. They also intend opening an Advertising Agency in May next, and we know no firm, better calculated to make such business success ful. - - Peterson's Magazine made its appear ance a little too late, to receive a. notice in our last." It is the March number that is in question. - The first of the month is not yet "riere, although the Magazine has been is sued and delivered to patrons nearly two weeks ago. The present namber is not asily excelled in its fashion department or to point ot literature. A splendid number is laid before its readers. We believe this to be the cheapest publication of the kind issued two dollars per annum and as an evidence of the fact, we only need advert to its large circulation. Charles J.
