HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT.
BAD LEGS, BAD BREATS, SORF.S
AND ULCERS.
All description of sores are remediable
by the proper and diligent use of this ines
timable preparation. To attmpt to cure
bad legs by plastering the edges of the
wound logviher is a folly; for should the
skin unite, a bopsry diseased dondition re
mains underneath to break out with tenfold
fury in a few dajs. The only ralionanl and
successful treatment, as indicated by nature,
is to reduce the infiama.ion in and about
the wound ond tc soothe the neighboring
parts by rubbing in plenty of the Ointment
as salt is forced into meat.
DIPTHERIA, ULCERATED SORE
THROAT, AND SCARLET AND
OTHER FEVERS.
Any of the above diseases may be enred
by well rubbing ihe Ointment three tin es
a day into the c hest, throat and neck of the
patient ; it will soon peneirata, and give
immediate relief. Medicine taken by ihe
mouth must operate upon the whole sys
tem ere its influence can be felt in any lo
cal part, whereas the O mment will do iif
work at once. Whoever tries the unnent
in the above manner ol the disease named,
ot any similar disorders affecting the chest
and throat, will fii.d themselves rel teved as
by a charm.
FILES, FISTULAS, STRICTURES.
The above class of complaint will be
removed by nightly fomenting the parts
wiih warm water, and then by most effect
ually rubbing in tha Ointment. Persons
suffering from thee direful complaint
should lose not a moment in arresting their
progress. It should be understood that it
is not sufficient merely to smear the Oint
ment on the affected parts, but it must be
well rubbed in for some considerable time
two or three times a day, that it may be
taken into the system, whance it will re
move any hidden sore or wound as effect
ually as though palpable to the eye. There
asaii: bread and water poultices, alter rub
bing in of the Ointment, will do great ser
vice. This is the only sure treatment for
females, cases of cancer in the stomach, or
where there may be a general bearing
down.
INDISCRETIONS OF YOUTH ; SORES
AND ULCERS.
Blotches, as aUo swellings, ubd, with
certainty, be radically cured if the Oint
ment be used freely, and Pills be taken
niht and morning as recommended in the
printed instructions. When treated in any
oiher way they only dry up in one place
to break out in anoiher ; whereas this Oint
ment will remove the humor from the sys
tem, and leave the patient a vigorous and
healthy being. It will require time with
t t.e use of the Pills to ensure a lasting cure
DROPSICAL SWELLINGS, PARALYSIS
AND STIFF JOINTS.
Although the above complaints differ
wiueh in their origin and nature, yet they
all require local treatment. Many cf the
wort ca!es; of such diseases, will yield in
a comparatively short space nf time whtn
this Ointment is diligently rubbed into the
parts affected, even after every other mean
have failed. In all serious maladies the
Pills should be taken according to the di
recuons accompanying each box.

, . RAYMOND'S FAMILY
SEWING MACHI N E !
- "PATENTED MARCH 9, 1858.
PRICE 10 EACH.
MESSRS. ZUPPINGER & ROB BINS, of
Bloomsburg, having purchased the ex
clusive right of the above valuable Impro
ved Cheaf Patent Sewing Machine, for
the County of Columbia, will be happy to
supply their friends with the article tor the
accommodation of themselves and families.
The following are some of the superior
advantages this implement possesses, viz:
1. It sews from 400 to 600 light stitches
per minute.
2. Double thread Machines are from the
more complicated character of their mech
anism invariably managed and threaded
with more or less difficulty ; not so with
RAYMOND'S, a child cao manage it in two
hours, and it is threaded easier than a com
mon needle.
3. One of the most valuable features of
this Machine, is the smalluess and the
compactness of its mechanism.
4. It can be attached to a board, table or
siand, in operating order, and removed in
less than half a minute.
5. It greatly economizes the thread, and
yet produces a seam, sufficiently strong for
any work for which it is intended, a qual
ification not known to all kinds of Sewing
Machines.
6. No human hand is capable of produ
cing a seam so regular and systematic.
The seam is 60 strong if well done, that tha
st.-ongest material will tear before the
seam will give way.
'7. Among the array of Pa'ent Sewing
Machines, ihere are none so cheap and
durable as Raymond's Patent, but no Ma
chine is adapted to all kinds of work as
experience has proven. There are perhaps
none ko renly useful, doing such a variety
of wore for the immediate u-e of the fam
ily circle and at such a moderate price as
RAYMOND'S PATENT.
8. The operator can shape his seam just
as he pleases, waves, leaves and flowers,
etc., can be reprei-emeil or imitated.
9. It is particularly adapte- to all kinds
of siiiciin g such as gentlemen's shirts,
bo-orns, ristbands, collar-, etc., arid all
kinds of ladien' sewing, including silks,
lawns, delaines, calicoes, duster, et v. ex
cepting for men'aheavy wear, this Machine
is rattier too light o eonnuuction.
10. Bm we all admit, that the advantage
lo health, and principal!) to the vision or
eyesight, incuced by ihe use of Sewing
Mai iiines, surpasses infinitely all other ad
vantage. 11. This Machine fastens the seam al-
ways use! I, Out if
operator wishes tt
unfastened or oDen. there is a wav lor it
ton, thns you can have it fastened or not,
as you please, which is, sometime, espe
cially for beginners, a very favorable cir
cumstance. If the seam is lei t unfastened,
you can draw it out in three seconds and
ave the thread.
For sale by the ondersiyned, at their re
spective residences, in Bloomsburg, who
will put the Machine in operation and give
all ueceasary instruction.

Robbkby The office of the old Railroad,

AN aperient and Stomachic preparai on
of IRON purified of Oxygen and Carbon by
cornbusiion,in ' Hydrogen. Sanctioned by
the highest Medical Authorities, both in
Earope and the United States, and prescri
bed in their practice. ...
The experie.nce.of thousands daily proven
that no preparation of Iron can be compared
with it. Impurities, df the blood, depression
of vital energy, pale and otherwise lickly
complexions indicate its necessity in almost
every conceivable case.
Innoxious in 'all malad-es in which it has
proved absolutely curative in each f the
following complaints, viz:
In Debility, Nervous Affections, Emaic
ation,' Dyspepsia, Consumption, Diarrhoea,
Dysentery, Incipient Consumption. Scrofu
lous Tuberculosis, Salt Rheum, Mismen
'ruation, Whiles, Chlorosis, ' Liver Com,
plaints, 'Chronic .Headaches, Rheumatism,
Intermittent Fevers, Pimples on the Face,
&c, " '
In cases of General Debility, whether tha
result of acute disease, or of the continued
diminution of nervous and mu-cu(ar energy
fiom chronic complaints, one trial of this
restorative has prove J successful to an ex,
tent which no description nor written attes
tation wonld render credible. Invalids so
long bed-ridden as to have become forgot
ten in their own neighborhoods, have sud
denly re-appeared in the busy world as if
justice relumed from protracted trivel in a
distant land. Some very signal instance
of this kind are attested of female Sufferer,
emaciated victims of apparent marasmus,
sanguineous exhaustion, critical changes,
and that complication of nervous and dys
peptic aversion to air and -xercise fof
which the physician has ho name.
In N ervous Affections of all kinds, and
for reasons familiar to medical men, the
operation of this preparation of iron must
necessarily be salutary, for, unlike the old
oxides, it is vigorously tonic, without bemjj .
exciting and overheating; and gently, reg
ularly aperient, even in ihe most obMinaie
cases of cosiiveness without ever being a
gastric purgatue, oriodicting a disagreeabia
sensation.
It is this latter property, among other,
which makes i: so remarkably erlectoaland
permanent a remedy for Piles, opon which
it also appears to exert a distinct and speci
fic action, by dispersing the local lendency
which forms them.
In Dyspepsia, innumerable zh are i
caue, a single box of these Chalybeate
Pills has often sufficed for ihe rnoi habi'na!
cases, including the attendent Cosiiveness.
In unchecked Diarrhraa, even when ad
vanced to Dysentery, confirmed, emancia
ting, and apparently malignant, the effects
have been equally decisive and astonishing.
In the local pains, lo- of flesh and
strength, debilitating cough, and remittent
hectte, which generally indicate Incipient
Consumrt in, this remedy has allayed the
alarm of friends and physicians, in several
very gratifying and iiteresting instances. (
In Scrofulous Tuberculosis, this medical
led iron ha- had for more than the good
effect ot the most cautiously balanced pre
parations of iodine, wjtbt.ui any of their
well known liabilities.
The attention of females cannot be too
confidently invited to this remedy and re
storation, in the cases peculiarly affecting;
them.
!n Rheomansm, both chronic and infUm-
ma'ory in the latter, however, more deci
dedly it has been invariably well reported
both as alleviating pain and reducing te
swelling and siiffne&s of the joints and
muscles.
In Intermittent Fever it mnM necesarily
be a great remedy and energe ic restorative
and its progress in the new settlements ot
ihe West, will probably be one of higti re
nown and usefulness.
No remedy has ever been disroverej in
the whole history of medicine which exers
such prompt, happy, and fully restorative
effects. Good appetite, complce digestion,
rapid acquisition ol strength, with an unus
ual disposition. lor active and cheerful ex
ercise, immediately follow it use.
Put up in neat flat metal boxes containing
50 pdis, price 50 cents per box ; tr sale by
druggisls and dealers. Will be sent free to
any address on receipt of the price. Alt
