ruing, with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Cbabgk Jacob Lusk has taken possess
ion of the Saloon, fromerly occupied by
Adam Leveret, la Robbison'a brick, oppo
site the Exchange Buildings, Mr. L. having
-abandoned the business of keeping a lager
'beer saloon and removed to Potisviile for
the purpose of engaging ir. a more lucra
tive and respectable employment.

'lor an early copy of his annual message,
printed in pamphlet form. We are unable
to lay it bkre our readers this week, but
will publish it entire in our next. We hare
not read it as carefully as we intend we

County Commissioners met at their office, in
this place, for the purpose of making the
' Annual Settlement, of Colombia County,
for the year 1861. The Andiiors also met
for the purpose of attending t0 tbif duties.
The Statement, as made out by these offi
cers, showing the receipts and expendi
lurcs, will appear i our paper in the course
of a lew weeks.
' Changed Hand In looking over onr
exchanges we find that the Union Argus,
'published at Lewisburg, has changed hands,
nd what commands our attention more par
ticularly is that, our yonng friend, Andrew
:H. Dill, Esq., formerly a resident of this
f county, has connected himself with I. M.
Baum in the publication of it. Success to
them.
Jmm Gibton. who is better known
as
'Kooney," has taken possession of the Res
.taurant formerly occupied by Jacob Lush
in the white Irame buildins i.early oppo
site the Old Aracade. Mr. Girton designs
managing this Saloon in such a manner as
. 1o be able to command the best custom ol
the place. He in daily receipt of Fresh
Oysters, and constantly keep on hand su
perior Ale. Taking into consideration his
unfortunate stale, (having lost a leg) he is
more entitled to patronage than any of his
competitors in the place.
Paper Charge Our young friends of the
North Branch Democrat have placed their es
tablishment into the hands of Rev. .B. B.
" F-rnory, who is to issue the next paper un
der the title of the Wyoming Inquire). We
understand that the new proprietor will
' change the politics, it has been Democrat
ic heretofore but "the tone of the paper
will be conservative and temperate in the
discussion of all political questions."
Success to the retiring as well as the incom
ing editor.
The dat recommended by. the President
for Filling, Humiliation and Prayer, was
not very generally observed, as it should
have been, in this place. The different
congregations fell disposed to reverence
-the day, and accrodingly services were held
in the several Churches ; but the places of
. business' did not regard the day in the 'least.
' Gentlemen all have their own opinions
about these matters, but we emphatically
'ay this waa not right, the day should have
: been more generally respected, and those

praying had better devote a portion of their
