TUB Circuit Court ol the United States for the Western District is in session at YVilliamsport this week. Wo learn that the Editors of the Columbia Democrat anil ller ttuck Gazelle are bo'.li in attendance ! ITHXS been stated by the Danville papers that the Monlonr County Agricultural Fair will be held in that place, on the sth 6th and 7th of next October Last Fall il was held at YVashingtonville. TUB EXECUTIVE COMMITTER met 011 last Saturday afternoon at Dr. John Ramsey's office in this place for the purpose of trans acting business relative to lite Colombia county, Horticultural and Mechanical Asso ciation. We have not been favored with their proceedings. WM. H. DKKISBACH "does up" the drink ables and eatables at the Exchange Res turant in a tip-top manner, calculated lo please the most fastidious epicurean. His eatables consist of fish, oysters, clams, frogs, trype, chicken, and tnrtle-sotip, nil of which are prepared in high style. THB two Brass Bands of this place have consolidated, under the name of HOWKK'S CORNET BAND. We now no longer have tow bands—all past differences have been laid aside and a union effected, which may prove beneficial to both parties. The Band designs going to Wyoming on the Fourth ol July. Bloomsburg will be desti tute of music on that day. Wt acknowledge ihe receipt of another one ol the Waverly Novels, entitled "Wood stock"—one complete volume. These works of Sir YVAI.TEII SCOTT are excellent— no better to be obtained so cheap or other wise. The Waverly Novels will comprise twenty-six volumes, each volume complete within itself. The whole twenty-six can be had for five dollars, or twenty five cents per copy. TIIE Members of the Montour County- Agricultural Society as well as the Board of Managers, met at the Court House, on last Saturday, and fixed upon Danville as the place, and the Stli 6th and 7th of next Octo ber as the lime, for the next County Fair. The Meeting was well attended, and there was quite a spirited contest among the members, whether the Fair should be ItelJ at Mausdale or at Danville.— Dm. RAIN has been very frequent recently, and the streams constantly swoln in consequence, it is very essential that we should enjoy a warm shower every few days ; that is what makes vegelatiuu in abundance. In litis section grain, fruit, and vegetation, never promised a better yield than at present We have heard some complaint about the fly, but it seems to us quite natural for the farmers to trump up some evil or other in their grain, let the crops be what they may. The little evil iloers are not half as plenty in some sections as they have been reported. THE citizens of Orangeville and vicinity are about raising two military companies— one foot and one horse company. While in that place a few moments on last Satur day we saw quite a respectable number mustered upon the swaid at a by-place for parade and drill. The companies are com posed of comparatively young men ; just the right kind of material to form good sound companies. We may have a word to say in relation to these companies and their cuplaw) herealter. Success to lite en terprising and tactical spirit of the Orange ville Boys. PETERSON'S MAGAZ.INB—It has attained a high standing in the literary world and is fast introducing itself 10 the homes of the people; it follows the emigrant across the plains and soon becomes his most intimate acquaintance ; it is found in every new settlement and.in almost every hamlet in the west. AVliat in the con s to children n j" indeed, lio says, " I will visit the iniquities of the futhcrs upon their children." Its eifcets commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is termed tubercles; in the glands, swellings; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul cor ruption, wluch genders in the blood, depresses the energies of l£fe, so that scrofulous constitu tions not only suffer from scrofulous com plaints, but they have far less power to with stand the attacks of other diseases; conse quently, vast numbers perish by disorders which, although not scrofulous in their nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint in the system. Most of the consumption which de cimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamination ; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of nil the organs, arise from or arc aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous j their persons are invaded by this lurking in fection, and their health is undermined by it. To clcanso it from the system we must renovate the blood by an alterative medicine, and in vigorate it by healthy food und exercise. Such a medicine wo supply in AYER'S Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla, the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times can devise for this every whero prevailing and fatal malady. It is com bined from the most active rcmecuals that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of tho system from its destructive consequences. Ilcnce it should be employed for the cure of not only strofula, but also those other affec tions which arise from it, such as ERUPTIVE and SKIN DISEASES, ST.
