nish the most approved modern treatment.

superintend the burning of the Iron
Safes at Readmg, Ftb. 2"!lh, 1857.

The undersigned, members ol the Commit
lee. do respectfully report, thai we saw the I
two Safes originally agreed cpoti by Farrels
& Herrins ami Evans & VVataon, placed side
by side ir. a furnace, viz: The Sale in use by
the Paymaster of the Philadelphia and Read- 1
im> Railroad Company, in his office at Read
ins;, manufactured by Farrels & flerrins, and
ihe Safe in use by H. A. I.amz, in his store,
manufactured by Evans & VValson, arid pul
ill bonks and papers precisely alike.
The fire was siarled at 84 o'clock, A. M.,
and kept up until four cords of green hickory,
two cords dry oak and half chestnut top wood
were entirely consumed, the whole under
the superintendence of the subscribers, mem
bers ol Ihe Committee. The Safes were (hen
cooled off willi water, after which they were
opened, agd the books and papers'laken out
by the Committee and sent to 11. A. Lainz's
store for public examination, afier they were
first examined and marked by the Commit
tee. The books and papers taken from ihe
Safe manufactured by Evans & Watson were
but slightly affected by the intense heal,
while those taken from the Safe manufac
tured by Farrels & Herring were, in our juilg
mem, damaged fully fifteen per cent, more
ihiin those taken from Evans & Watson's
Sale.

I do not odvise the use of medical Inhalation
of any kind, to the exclusion of general treat
ment ; and although I consider it a useful ad
juvant in the proper management of those
fearful and often fatal diseases, ye( f deem ii

meal. The success of my treatment in the
above diseases, and in the higli cliaiacter ol
