TO THOSE WHO WANT FARMS.
A Farm within the reach of every Man.
rpHE RIDGWAY FARM COMPANY has
-®- has made arrangements by which all
who desire lo settle or purchase a home can
do so.
The Farms consist of the best limestong
soil of the most superior quality for farming,
in n rapidly improving place, into which an
extensive emigration is now pouring. 'l'hc
proiierly is locutcd in Elk County, Pennsyl
vania, in the midst of a thriving population
of some 10,000. The climate la perfectly
healths', and tbo terrible plague of tbo west
fever is unknown. It also has an abundance
of tbe best quality of Coal and Iron. The
price to buy it out is from to s2(l per acre,
payable by installments, to be located at the
lime of purchasing, or a share of twcn'y-five
ae.es entitling to locate the same for S3OO,
payable jfC per monih or 12J acres payable $4
per month. Discount for every sum o"" SIOO
and under, paid in advance, and for ovej SIOO
a dis .ount of 10 per cent.
Inconsideting the advantages of emigrating
lo this locality the following arc presented :
FntsT—The soil is a rich limestone,capatilo
of raising the heaviest crops, owing to uhi.h
this settlement has obtained its present great
prosperity.
Sr.coNii—lt is the centre of ,he great North
West Coal Ilu'ir, and is destined soon to be
come one of the greatest business | laces in
the State. It will supply the great Lnko mar
ket, (according to the population and travel
the greatest in the Union.) It hasfive work
able veins of ihe best Bituminous coal, amount
ing in tbe aggregate IO over 22 feet, which
makes 22 OUO tons of coal under each acre,
I his wilt make the land of inostimahlo value.
't he eminent geologist Dr. Chas. T. Jackson
of Boston, has mude n geological survey of the
land, and analysed (he coal, the iron oro and
limestone. This report together with maps
will be furnished to inquirers.
FovnTH—Three Railroads are laid out thro'
ihis property. The Sunbuiv and Eire Railroad
gives us a market for our coal to the lakes—it
runs from Erie to Philadelphia. A large part
of the Road has been finished, and is now in
tunning order. A heavy force is now working
from Erie towards our land in the western di.
rectuin, the means for the completion of which
has bren rai-c.l, it will soon be finished. The
Allegheny Valley 'Railroad connects us with
New York, Boston and Pittsburg. The Ve
nango Road connects us with the West.
Thcie arc already good Turnpiko Roods
running through this property, various other
roads have been opened to accommodate the
emrgraiion and scltlearent which lias already
lal.cn place.
There is no opportunity equal to it now of
fered to the matt who wants to provide himself
a home in an easy way. and mttkoa settlement
where lie can live in prosperity and indepettd
encc in a climate Perfectly Healthy.
No case offcvct ever having hecn known to
orcur in this settlement. It is not like going
to the backwoods of tho West, among peihaps
iotoleiatit people, wliete theie is no society,
churches, or schools, whete the price of land is
I high, and where the emigrant, afier being used
I to the healthiest climate in the world, has to
I endure sickness and pain, and peihaps ruins
his health and that of Iris family, hut here is
a thriving settlement having thiee towns, con
taining churches, schools, hotels, stores saw
tnilis, grist mills, and everything desired. There
is a rush market at hand. The lumber trade
last year ameunted toovor 'wo hundred million
feet of lun her. In a short time, owing to tho
coal, it will brer me still mote valuable as a
number of iron woiks and manufactories vrill
anon he started; thev aro at present starting
them extensively at VVatren. Even for those
who do not wi-h to go there, the payments
ara such that they can easily buy a fatm to
save their rising families from want in the
future, or to gain a competence by the tise
winch will lake place in the value of lands.
By an outlay scarcely missed, a substantial
provision can be made.

During tweniy years' practice, I have re
stored to health over seventeen thousand pa
tients, wtio were suffering under the worst
forms of nil of the above mentioned dis
eases, which guarantees me in promising a
perfect and most speedy core. Secret dis
eases nretlie greatest enemies to health and
happiness, as liicy are the first Cause of con
sumption, scrofula, &c., and should be a ter
ror to all nations 011 the earlh; lor the dis
ease is becoming so common, and irealmenl
so little understood, that a permanent cure is
scarcely ever effected, as a majority of the
cases fall into the hands of incompetent per
sons, who not ouly fail to cure lite malady,
but ruin the constitution with corrosive sub
limate—a dangerous poison, a preparation
of mercury—which, with the remains of dis
ease in the system, produces many of the
above named affections, which finally termi
nate in consumption, and frequently a rapid
one ; but should it not cause death speedily,
and the victim to disease marries, the disease
is then conveyed Irora the patient to the chil
dren, causing them to come into it)e world
with scrolula, affections of the skin, eyes,
throat, &c., and again terminates in con
sumption, and consigns his victim to an un
timely grave, between the ages of six months
and thirty-five years. Sell absnc is another
formidable enemy 10 health ; it destroys the
nervous sysiem, rapidly wasting away the
energies of life, causing mental derange
ment, preventing a proper developrnanl of
the sysiem, and disqualifying its victom for
niarriuge, society, business, and all earthly
happiness. Female Irregularities and other

The undersigned, members of the Commit
tee, do respectfully report, Rial we saw the
two Safes originally agreed upon by Farrele
& Herring and Evans &. Watson, placed sida
by side ir. a furnace, viz: Tbe Sale In nse by
tlie Paymaster of the Philadelphia and Read
ing Railroad Company, in his office at Read
ing, manufactured by barrels & Herring, and
the Safe in Use by 11. A. Laniz, in his store,
manufactured by Evans & Watson, and put
in books and papers precisely alike.
The fire was started at 8$ o'clock, A. M.,
and kept up until four cords of green hickory,
two cords dry oak and half chestnut top wood
were entirely consumed, the whole under
tho superintendence of the subscribers, mem
bers ot the Committee. The Safes were theu
cooled of! with water, after which they were
opened, agd the books and papers taken out
by th 6 Committee and sent to 11. A. La/tiz'e
store lor public examination, after they were
first examined and marked by the Commit
tee. The books and papers taken from the
Safe manufactured by Evans &. Watsou were
but slightly affected by the intense heal,
while those taken front the Safe manufac
lured by Fatruls &. Herring were, in our judg

than those tuken from Evaus & Watson *
Safe.
