CONSUMPTION, A ND ALL DISEASES Of THE LUNGS , •*! THSDAT hi positively corsbls by nhalelion, which, conveys Ihe remedies lo Iba eaiiiiea >o (he longs through tha air pas ssges, and coning in direct contact with ibe diaeaae, neutralize. Iba labercaiar matter, aiiaya the cough, caoaaa a free and eaay ex peeio-aiion, heala the lunge, purifies Ibe blood, imparla renewed vitality lo tbe nervous ata tem, giving tbat tone and eoergy ao indis penaable lor tbe roatorative of health. To be able to atate confidently that Conanmption ia curable by inhalation, ia to me a aoorca of unalloyed pleaenre. It ia a* much under Ibe control of medical treatment aa any other formidable diaeaae; ninety 00l of every hun dred caves can be cured in the firat stages, and fifty per cent, in the second; but in tbe third ataga it ia impoaaible to aave more than five per cent., for the looga are ao cut up by tbe diaeaae aa lo bid defiauce lo medical •kill. Even, however, in the last stage,, in halation affords extraordinary relief to tbe tofferio£ attending thia tearfulscoutge, which annually destroys ninety five thousand per sona in the United States alone; and a correct calculation show* tbatont of the present pop ulation of the eartb, eighty millions are des tined to fill tbe consumptive's grave. Truly Ibe quiver of death baa no arrow so fatal as Consumption. In all ages it has been tbe great enemy of life, for il sparea neither age nor sex, but iweeps off alike the brave, the beautiful, the graceful, and the gifted.— By lb# belp of that Supreme Being, from wbom Cometh every good and perfect gift, I am enabled to offer lo tbe afficled a perma nent acd speedy core in Conanmption. The first cause of tubercles ia from impure blood, and tbe immediate effect, produced by their disposition in tbe lungs, is to prevent the free admission of air into the air cells, which causes a weakened vitality through tbe entire system. Then surely il is more xational lo expect greater good from icedij cinea entering the cavities of the longs tban from iboae administered through tha stom ach; tbe patient will always fiud the lungs free and tbe breathing easy after iobaling remedies. True, inhalation ia a local remedy, nevertheless it acts constitutionally, and with more power and certainty than rem edies administered by the stomach. To proee the poweitol and direct influence ol this mode of administration, chloroform inhaled will entirely destroy sensibility in a lew mm utes, paralyzing the entire nervous system, so thai a limb may be amputated without the slightest pain; inhaling Ihe ordinary burning gas will destioy life in a few hours. Tbe inhalation of ammonia will rouse the system when fainting ot apparently dead.— Tbe odor of many of tbe medicines is per ceptible in the skin a few minutes after being inhaled, and may be immediately detected in the blood. A convincing proof of the constitutional effects of lulialation, is the fact that sickness ia always produced by breath ing foul air. Ia not this positire evidence tbat proper remedies, carefully prepared and judiciously administered through tbe longs, should produce the most happy results? Du ring eigbiveo years' practice, many thous ands, suffering from diseases of the lungs acd throat, have been under my care, and I have affected many remarkable cores, even after the sufferers had been pronounced in Ihe last stages, which fully satisfies me that consumption is no longer a lata! disease.— ily treatment of consumption is original, and ; founded on long experience aud a thorough i investigation. My perfect acquaintance with the nature of tubercles, be., enables me lo distinguish readily tbe various forms of dis ease that simulate consumption, and apply j the proper remedies rarely being mistaken even in a single case. This familiarity in ! connection with certain pathological ami mi croscopic discoveries, enables me to relieve . the lungs Trom tbe > of mMnmf chmt-. i to enlarge the chest, purity tbe blood, impart lo it renewed vitality, giving energy and lone , to the entire system. It is be cause they don't loach the cause of the dis ease. The cause of all agne and billions dis eases is the atmospheric poison called Mias ma or Malaria. Neutralize Ibis poison by its NATURAL ANTIDOTE, and all diseases caused by it disappears al once. Rhodes' Fever and Agne Cure is this Antidote lo Malaria, and moreover il is a perfectly harmless medicine. The certificate of the celebrated chemist, J. R. Chilton, of New York, lo this effect, is attached lo every bottle; therefore if it does no good il can do no harm. This is more than can be said of Quinine, Arsenic, or any tonic in existence, as their use is ruinous to the constitution and brines UUUU JLOUK, —WL.W allntve rwtr son lo feel perfectly well for a'single moment. In illustration of these truths I annex some extracts from a letter just received from a Physician: Georgetown, Ohio, March 17, '56. Jss. A. Rhodes, Esq.—Dear Sir: Yonrs of 2d inst. is al hand. The Cure arrived late last year and the difficulty in getting any one to try il was greatly increased from the fact j that a remedy had been introduced which was growing in favor with the public, as be ing belter than using Quinine, —not knowing ; I presume tbat the remeJy they needed to escape taking Quinine, contained the DRUG ITSELF! This remedy,(knen as "Smith's Tonic,") would invariably BREAK an ague, but it did not CURE it, and it would often relorn with renewed vigor. The one circumstance I deemed in yonr favor, if I could inslitnte a teal comparison between it and yonr CURE. Tbe following is the resale Three persons look your "Care," all of which were cases of "Quotidian Intermit tent Fever," of many weeks standing. They had tried Qoinine, and other remedies, occa sionally missing a chill, bat it was, (as in all such cases,; slowly wearing them oat, and laying the foundation of other and severer maladies. I did sncceed in effecting a radi cal care of all three of these cases with your remedy, and they have not bad a chill since. In all three of these cases the "Smith's Ton ic" bad been used, and wonld, aa before sta ted, break the chill, bnt after a period or two bad elapsed it would return. I Ihjnk there will be no difficulty now in giving to your "Cure" the vantage ground of any other remedy now in nse here. &c. &c. WILLIAM BUCKNER, M. D. RHODES' FEVER and AGUE CURE, or Antidote lo Malaria, the only harmless reme dy in existeoce, is equally certain as a PRE VENTIVE, as a "CURE." THE Author of the shove volume is a gradu ate of one or the first medical schools in the United States, and having devoted a quarter of a century to the study and treatment ofßyphitis and kindred disorders as a speciality, he has become possessed of most invaluable informa tion in regard to the same, and is able to com pass into vade mecum compass the very quint essence of medical science on this important subject; as the result of the experience of the most eminent physician in Europe and Amer ica is thoroughly demonstrated in his own highly successful practice in the treatment of secret diseases in many thousands of cases in the City of Philadelphia alone. The iracticeof Dr. Hunter has long boon, and still is literally unbounded, but at the ear nest solicitation of numerous persons, he has been induced to extend the sphere of his pro fessional usefulness to the community at large, through the medium of bis "Medical Manual Hand-Book for the Afflic'ed.'* It is a volume that should he in the hand of every family in the land, whether used aa a preventive of secret vice, or aa a geide for the alleviation of one of the most awful and dc structive scourges ever visited upon mankind for the sins of sensuality and impurity of every kl d. It is a volume that has received the unquali fied recommendation of the first physicians in the lanu, while many clergymen, fathers, moth ers, | hilnnthropists and humanitarians, have moat freely extended its circulation in all quar ters where its powerful teachings would be like ly to be instrumental in the moral purification and physical healing of multitudes of our peo. pie, among the young, volatile and indiscreet, otherwise the pride and flower of the nation. The aulboi argues particularly, most strongly against every species of self-defilement, aud warns parents and searching terms, to guard the young ofToth sexes from the terrible consequences concomitant of their ignorance of phyiological laws and sexual tmd purities and irregularities, whether exhibils ny precocious development or arising fiom the visciousaud corrupting examples of their school, mates or otheiwise. To those who have been already ensnared to the "paths that take hold on hell,'' a clear and explicit way is shown by which they may secure a return of sound health and a regeneration of the soul from Its terrible pollution. It is well known that thousanJs of victims are annually sacrificed at the shrin of Quack ery —especially those suffering from Venereal or Byphilitic diseases—Strictures, Seminal Weak ness, Nervous Debility, and the numeroaa mal adies which sprtng directly or less remotely from the indulgence of carnal passions and se cret violations of Naturo. In view of these facts, and when it is also consideretl that about 100,000 persons die annu ally in the United fciiutes of Cnnoumption—a large majority being the victims of Ite voluput ous indiscretion of their progenitors, agreeably to the Scriptural enunciation, that the sins of the parents are visited upon the children, even to the third and fourth generation. The Author, imbued with sentiments of enlarged phtlhnthro py, will scarcely be censured for any effort to restruin the vices of the age, by the humble in strumentality of his Medical Manual. He cautions the unfortunate against the a buse of mereory; thousands are annually mercurialized out of life. Recent affection* are piomptly extinguished. TWENTY YEARS'EXPERIENCE In the treatment of a class of disease* hitb erto neglected and imperfectly understood, has enabled Dr. KINKELIN, Author of a work on Self Preservation, to prove ha! nine tenths of th* causes of nervous debility, lo cal and constitutional weakness, mental and Ehysical suffering, are traceable to certain slits, forming the most secret yet deadly and fatal springs of domestic misery and premature mortality. TAKE PARTICULAR NOTICE, There is an evil habit sometimes iudoiged in by boys, in solitude, and wbiob, if not re formed in due time, not only hegets serious obstacles to matrimonial happiness, but gives rise to a series of protracted) insidious, and devastating afflictions. Few of those who give way to this pernicious practice ere a. ware of the consequences, until they find the nervous system chattered, feel strange and unaccountable feelings, and vagae fear* in the mind. MARRIAGE Requires the fulfillment of several cooditions in order that it may be really the cause of mutual happiness.
