horse machine with the hands necessary to
attend it.
The subscribers lake Ibis method of in
forming the public in general, that they have
for some time been carrying on, in all their
various branches, the manulactutc and sale
of Wheeler's Patent Chain Horse Powers,
together with Overshot Thrashers, Feed Cut
ters, Revolving Horse Rakes, lite., in Light
Street, Columbia co., and the town of North
umberland, Northumberland co., Pa.
Tlic Horse-Powers
are strong arid durable, and very simple in
their construction: run light, and ate not
liable lo gel out of order.- With a slight ele
vation, tho weight alone of the horse or
horses drives the Thrasher with force and
speed. They may also ho used for various
other purposes, such a driving Circular Saws,
Turning Lathes. Boring Machines, Grind-
Stones. Churns, etc. etc.
The Overshot Machines
have several advantages over the machines
now in use. The apton or feeding table is
level, and of a proper height to allow the
feeder lo stand erect, and feed evenly and
easily without annoyance from du6l; sticks
Bnd stone arc not liable to gel into the
thrasher, and the grain is not scattered, but
thrown dowi "V the separator. The two
horso machine,' attended by from two lo
three hpuds, will thrash Irom 100 to 150
bushels of wheat, or double the amount of
oats per day. The one horse machine, at
tended by two or three hands, will thrash
from 50 to 75 bushels ol wheat, or double
the amount of oats per day. The Feed-
Cutler is a first rato article, and is very much
used. It cuts fine and very fast; stalks are
cut by it 3-8 of an inch long, at he rale
of Worn 300 to 500 sheaves per day.

qualities and character of our machines.—

FIIHEY never did do more than give tempo
rary relief and they never will. It is be
cause they don't touch the cause of the dis
ease. The cause of all ague and billious dis
eases is the atmospheric poison called Mias
ma or Malaria. Neutralize this poison by
its
NATURAL ANTIDOTE,
and all diseases caused by it disappears at
once. Rhodes' Fever and Ague Cure is this
Antidrila lo Malaria, and moreover it is a
perfectly harmless medicine. The certificate
of the celebrated chemist, J. R. Chilton, of
Now York, to this cfTect, is attached to every
bottle; therefore if it does no good it cur. do
no harm.
This is more than can be said of Quinine,
Arsenic, or any lonic in existence, as their
use is ruinous to the constitution and brings
on DUM B AGUE, which never allows a per
son to feel perfectly well tor a single moment.
In illustration of these truths I annex some
extracts from a letter just received from a
l'hvbician:
Georgetown, Ohio, March 17, '56.
JAS. A. RHODES, Esq.—Dear Sir: Yours ol
2d iust. is ai hand. The Cure arrived late
last year and ths difficulty in getting any one
to try it was greatly increased from the fact
that a remedy had been introduced which
was growing in favor with the public, as be
ing bolter than using Quinine, —not knowing
1 presume thai the remedy they needed to
escape taking Quinine, contuined tho DRUG
ITSELF!
This remedy, (kncw-i as "Smith's Tonic,")
would invariably BREAK an agtto, but it did
not CURE it, and it would often return with
renewed vigor. The one circumstance I
deemed in your favor, if I could institute a
lest comparison between it and your CURE.
The lollowing is the result:
Three persons took your "Cure," all of
which were esses of "Quotidian Intermit
tent Fever," ol many weeks standing. They
had tried Quinine, and other remedies, occa
sionally missing n chill, but it was, (as in all
such cases,; slowly wearing thorn out, and
laying the Inundation of other and severer
maladies. I did succeed in effecting a radi
cal euro of all threb of these cases with your
remedy, and they have not had a chill since.
In all three of those eases the "Smith's Ton
ic" had heen used, and would, as before sta
ted, break the chill, but after a period or two
had elapsed il would return.
1 think lime will he no difficulty now in
giving to your "Cure" the vantage ground of
any other remedy now in use here, &e. &c.

after remaining exposed in the burning ruin*
for nearly Forty Hours, and proving conclu
sively what we have always claimed for
them, their great superioiity over all securi
ties known.
In these fires, the HERRING'S SAFE,
standing Bide by side with those advertised
as "warranted to stand 10 per cent, more fire
than Herring's," came forth the acknowledge'
ed victor, not only preserving their contents
in excellent order, but being themselves ia a
condition to go through another ordeal, while
the boasted "Salamanders" of othe) raakUrs
were badly used op in every instfnee, and
iu somecasostheir entire contents completely
destroyed.
To the public we would simply say, that,
during the fourteen years of the Herring's
