Bcport of (lie Grand Jury
ct February Term, 1855.
f f'O the honorable the Judges of the court
A of quaver sessions of the peace in and
for the county ol Columbia.
The undersigned Grand Inquest of Ihe
Commonweahh of Pennsylvania inquiring
for the body ol the county of Columbia, lbs
spectfully Report.
That they have pursuant to their required
duties calrnlv and deliberately, investigated
•II bills of indictment presented for their con
sideration si this term, and have passeJ up
on them accordingly. They have also made
• thorough examination of rho Court house,
Jail, and all other public buildings, and find
them generally in good repair.
• It is within the knowledge of the Inquest
that Ihe public road leading along Fishing-
Yreek above Orangeville is much injured and i
obstructed by the creek at this present sea- !
•on. But in our judgment, die difficulty will
be obviated whenever iho bridge now iu
contemplation shall be built over Fi-hing
trreok a short distance above where the road
is now injured by the water.
The violations of law in this communily,
tare not many, nor are the few crimes of a
high nature. It i 3 a cause of congratulation
thai our labors can be short, ami. that no se
rioua reproaches attach to our community.
The •rndiiion of public morals we believe
to be about as good as thy frailties of hu.tinn
nature idlow to be expected—while the bnnn
ties of Providence HIUI the blessings ol (tee
institutions still continue to CU our land.
All of which is respectfully submitted this
