PHILAD., April 15, 1850.
Dr. Swayue—Dear Sir—Being severely af
flicted with a violent c.old and cough, which
settled upon my lung- attended with great
debility, soreness in my side, that 1 could
scarcely breathe, spitting of blood, no ap
petite, could get no rest at night, owing to
the severity of my cough, would spit as
mitch as a pin; of blood at a time. This
mournful state of things continued until I
almost despaired of being cured, having
tried physicians and nnmcr iua things with
-out relief; but having heard of the great vir
lues of your Compound Syrup if Hi Id Cherry,
and its being approved ol by physicians of
the first eminence, I concluded to make a
trial of it, and am happy to state that three
bottles performed a perfect cure; my sleep
is now undisturbed and sweet, and 1 firmly
-believe that to your medicine 1 am indebted
for this great cure.
1 shall be glad to communicate with any
person on the subject who may be pleased
to call on ine, and corroborate what 1 have
said in the above certificate, at the factory or
any residence.
Yours, most respectfully,
EDWARD HANSON.

commend l)r Culleu's Indian Vegetable Pana

purifying medicine.
So with Christiana Sauds—her cuie of Scrof

Mr. Brooks', when we reflect that from the dis
ease her tea or col Tee would'frequently pass out
of her ears, when attempting to drink, [See

The people arc beginning to understand, toe,
that the various Syrups of Sari aparilla are little
better than molasses, and thut it is madness to
throw aw.iy money oil articles which, under the
most favorable rircumstancea, do not produce
any impression on the system until several gal
ons have been swallowed. One bottle of Dr.
Cullen's Panacea seldom fails to produce con
viction in the minds of patients that a radical
cure is certain. ,
Thus hope, [ o neccssaiy. an ally to medi

la cured beforo any other preparation could have
made ihe slightest impression upon thediseaee!
In fact, the twelve ounce bottles of Di. Cul
len's Panacea, compared willi the pint and quart
bottlea of other purifiers, are valuablo about in
the proportion of gold to copper. Those who
woule piefer a penny to a half eagle, on account
of its size, would make a poor selection to say
ihe least.
Sorsaparilla a good purifier! Dr. Cullen'a
Panacea contains its oxtract in its most concern
trait d form. Added to this are other extracts,
more active and powcifut, and which effect in
combination with the Barsaparilla, what the lit
ter article, or combined with the most powerful
poisons, cannot alone accomplish.
It has cured where everything else had failed
and this in a multitude of cases—not in Euiope
or in the moon, (where an many great cuies
have been pctformed,) but iu Philadelphia and
other pafta or the union. And he it distinctly
understood that wo do not obtain our extracts by

w ipplied by this beautiful and wonderful dis
torP.ey, thi exhausted patient and weakened sufferer is
** stored to former health, strength, elasticity and vigor.
The great peculiarity and excellence of
Dr. Christie's Galvanic Curatives,
oonsists in the fact that they arrest and cure disease by
outward application, in place of the usual mode of drug
ging, and physicking the jtafient, till exhausted Nature
sinks hopolcssly under the infliction.
They itrengthm the whole system, equalize the circu
lation of the blood, promote the lecretiont, and never do
the slightest injury undtr any circumstances. Since their
introduction in the United States, only three years since,
more than
60,000 Persons
including all ages, cla*ei and conditions, among wmch
were a large number of ladies, who are peculiarly subject
to Nervous Complaints, have been
ENTIRELY AND PERMANENTLY CURED,
when ail hope of relief hnd been given up, and every
thing else been tried in vain .
To illustiate the use of tho GALVANIC BELT,
suppose the case of a person afflicted with that bane or
civilization, DYSPEPSIA, or any other ( hntnie or Nerv
ous Disorder. In ordinary cases, stimulants aie taken,
which, by their action on the nerves ami muscles of tha
stomach,'afford temporary relief, but which leave the
patient in a lower state, and with figured faculties, after
the action thus axeited has ceased. Now compare this
with the effect resulting from the application or the GAL
VANIC BELT. Take a Dyspeptic sufferer, even in the
%-orst symptoms of an attack, and simply tie the Belt
•round the Body, using the Magnetic Fluid as directed.
In a short period the insensible perspiration will act on
the positive element of the Belt, thereby causing P. Gal
vanic circulation which will pass on to the negative, and
thence back again to tho jHisitive, thus keeping up a con
tinuous Galvanic circulation throughout the system.
Thus the most severe cases of DYSPEPSIA are PER
MANENTLY CURED. A FEW DAYS IS AMPLY
SUFFICIENT TO ERADICATE THE DISEASE OF
YEARS.

CURE OR
Rheumatism, Bronchitis and Dyspepsia.
REV. DR. LANDIB, A CLERGYMAN
of New Jersey, of distinguished attainments and exalted
reputation :
SIDNEY, New Jersey, July 13, 1949.
Da. A. H. CHRISTIE—Dear Sir: You wish to know of
me what has been the result in my own case, of the
application of THE GALVANIC BELT AND NECK
LACE. My reply is as follows :
For about twenty y tart I had been suffering from
Dy*i>epsia. Every year the symptoms became worse,
nor could I obtain permanent relief from any course
rf medical treatment whatever. About fourteen years
since, in consequence of frequent exposure to the
weather, in the discharge of my pnitoral duties, I
became subject to a severe Chronic Rheumatism, which
for year after year, caused me indescribable anguish.
Farther : in the winter of '45 and '46, in conse
quence- of preaching a great deal in my own and
various other churches in this region, I was attacked
by the Bronchitis, which soon became so severe as
to require an immediate suspension of my pastoral
labors. My nervous system was now thoroughly pros•
tratsd, and as my Bronchitis became worse, so also did
my Dyspepsia and Rheumatic affection—thus evincing
that these disorders were connected with each other
through the medium of the Nervous Bystom. in tho
whole pharmacopcaia there seemed to be DO remedial
agent which could reach end recuperate my Nervous
System ; every thing that I had tried for this purpose had
oompletclv failed. At last I was led by my friends to ex-
Amino your inventions, and (though with no very san
guine hope* of their cfQciency.) I determined to try the
effect of tun application ot the GALVANIC BELT AND
NECKLACE, with the MAGNETIC FLUID. This was
in Juno, 1840. To sir GREAT ASTONISHMENT, IN TWO
CATS sir DYSPEPSIA HAD GO: b ; IN EIGHT DATS I was
ENABLED TO RESUME HV TASTOMAL LABORS, NOR HAVT. 1
SINCE OMITTED A SINGLE SERVICE ON ACCOUNT OF THE
BRONCHITIS ; AND SIV RHEUMATIC AFFECTION HAS EN-
Tin cur CEASED TO TROI'BI.E me. Such is the wonder
ful and happy results of the experiment.

who have been likewise suffering from Neuralgic affec

DR. IIOOFLAND'S
CELEBRATED BITTERS,
JREPARED BY
PR. C. 91. JACKSON,
AT THE
GERMAN MEDICINE STORE,
No. 120 Arch Street, Philadelphia.
Their power over llie above diseases is
not excelled, if equalled, liy any other rep
aration in the United States, as the cures
attest, in many cases after skilful physicians
had failed.
These Bitters are worthy the attention of
invalids. Possessing great virtues in the
rectification of diseases of the Liver afid 1 ss
ser glands, exercising the most searching
powers in weakness and atlectionsof the di
gestive organs, they are, withal, safe, cer
| tain and pleasant.
Read and be Convinced.
The Hon. Charles D. Hineline, Editor of
the "Camden Democrat," the best paper in
West Jersey, says, July 21: —
"HOOFLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS." —"We
have seen many flalterin" notices of this
medicine, and the source from which they
came, inducod us to make inquiry respect
ing its merits. From inquiry we were pet
suaded to use it, and must say we found
it specific in its action upon diseases of the
! liver and digestive organs, and the powerful
J inlluence it exerts upon nervous prostration
is really surprising. It calms and stroglhens
! the nerves, bringing them into a slate of re
| pose, making sleep relreshing.
j "If this medicine were more generally
j wsed, we are satisfied there would be less
| sickness, as from the stomach, liver and ner
| vous system the great majority of real and
I imaginary diseases emanate. Have them in
a healthy condilion, and yon can bid defi
| ance to epidemics generally. This extraor
dinary medicine we would advise ourfrionds
| who are at all indisposed to give a trial—it
I will then recommend itself. It should, in
| fact, be in [every family. No olher medi
| cino can produce such evidences of merit."
[From '.he "Boston Bee."]
The edilor said, Dee. 22d—
"Dr. Iloojland's Celebrated German Sitters
for the pure of Liver Complaint, Jaundice,
Dyspeysia, Chronic or Nervous Debility, is
deservedly one of the most popular medi
cines of the day. These Bitters have been
lued by thousands, and a friend at our elbow
says be has hldiself received an effectual
and permanent cure of Liver Complaint
from the use of this remedy. We are con
vinced that, in the use of these Bitters, the
patient constantly gains strength and vigor—
a fact worthy of great consideration. They
are pleasant in taste and smell, and can be
used by persons with the most delicate stom
achs with safety, under any circumstances.
Wc are speaking from experience and to the
afflicted we advise.lheir use."
Judge M. M. Noah, a gentleman with
great scientific and and litterary attainments,
said in his "Sew York Weekly Messenger,"
January 6, 1850.
"Dr. Iloojland's German Sitters. —Here is
a preparation which the leading presses in
the Union appear to be in re
commending. and the reason is obvious. It
is made after a prescription furnished by
| one of the most celebrated physicians of
| modern times, the late Dr Christopher VVil-
I helm Hoofland, Professor to the University
' of Jena. Private Physician to the King of
Prussia, and one of the greatest medical wri
ters Germany has ever produced. He was
emphatically the enemy of humbug, and
therefore a medicine of which he was the
inventor and endorser may be confidently re
lied on. He specially recommended it in
Liver Complaint, Dyspepsia, Debility, Ver
tigo, Acidity of the Stomach, Constipation,
and all complaints arising from a disordered
condition of the stomach, the liver and the
intestines. Nine Philadelphia papers express
their conviction of its excellence, and sev
eral ot the editors speak of its effects from
their own individual experience. Under
these circumstances, we feel warranted, not
only in calling the attention of our readers
to the present proprietor's (Dr. C. M. Jack
son's) preparation, but in recommending the
article to all tifHicled."
MORE EVIDENCE.
The "Philadelphia Saturday Gazette," the
best family newspapei published m the Uni
ted States, the editor says of
DR. IIOOFLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS.
"It is seldom that we recommend what
are te.-ued Patent Medicines to the confi
dence utiu patronage of our readers; and,
therefore wht'." we recommend Dr. Hoof
land's German BiWors, we wish it to be dis
tinctly understood tc2t we are not speaking
of the nostrums of the daj' 'l'®' aro noised
about for a brief period and iifCt forgotten
after they have done their guilty raC?ol mis
chif, but of a medicino long established,
universally prized, and which has met the
hearty approval of the Faculty itself."
Evidence upon evidence has been re
ceived (like the foregoing) from all sections
ot the Union, the last three years, and the
strongest testimony in its favor, is, that there is
more of it used in the practice of the regu
lar Physicians of Philadelphia than all other
nostrums combined, a fact that can easily
be established, and fully proving that a sci
entific preparation will meet with their qui
et approval when presented even in this
form.
That this medicine will cure Liver Com
plaint and Dyspepsia, no one can doubt, af
ter using it as diieoted. It acts specifically
upon the stomach and liver—it is preferable
to calomel in all bilious diseases —the efTed is
immediate. They can be administered to
FEMALE or INFANT with safety and reliable
benefit, at anytime.

Dr. 8. A. Pearson, Dear Sir—About a year *-

then app.ied to another, who was of the same o
pimon, and after having presciibcd advised me lo
return to my friends.
Previous lo this I had for a long lime been la
boring under all tho symptoms usually found with
persons laboring under disease of ihelurgs, and
it was thought by all who knew me that I was fast
.vearing away with decoy.
At the time I applied to tho physicians t was
laboring under a severe attack of spitting blood,
with pain in roy breast and side. Their prescrip

could not arrest the discharge of blood from my
lungs. This being my condition, I was induced
lo make a trial of your valuable Pulmonic Expec

lieved of all those unpleasant symptoms, and am
now so for restored lo health, that I am able to
attend to all my ordinary buiineaa, and expose
myself as much as it is prudent for any one to do.
