Bruising or Grinding Oats for
noi;6C6. Any one may bavo noticed that
when horses are fed with oats, many grains
come through them without being masti
cated. The grain, in fact, has received so
Httlo injury that it germinates and grows
vigorously, under favorablo circumstance.
It is evident, tbercforo, that the horse has
obtained no nutriment from such grains.
Experiments show that by bruising or
grinding, tho.benefit to tho horso is much.
The Iiondon Omuibus Company, which it
is eujd keeps 6,500 horses, experimented by
lociung one-nau ot tbem on bruised oats,

10 lbs. ; uncut hay and straw, 13 pounds!
The bruised oats, hay and straw amount
ed to 20 pounds., and tho unbruised oats,
hay and straw, to. 32 pounds. The horses
that had tho bruised oats, with cut bay
end straw, consumodO pounds per day,
end performed as much work and kept in
us good condition ;s the horses that had
82 pounds per day."
Facts Worth Remembering.
It is worth while for all farmcrs, overy

That an offensive war ngainBt weeds, is

That good fences always pay better

That hay is a great deal cheaper mado
in tho summer, than purchased in the

That mora stock perish from famine

That a horso who lays his cars back

That scrimping tho feed of fattonlng
