'Tho Episcopal Diocesan Convention as
sembled in Snint Andrew's Church on
Tuesday afternoon, at 5 o'clock. The 1U.
iop l'ottcr, presided ; Assistant
Bishop Bowman sitting on the left of tho
chanrcl. Tho attendance of clergy is pret
ty full. Tho lay attendance is not so large,
sometimes no representation, seldom more
thanbno, except in tho immediate neigh
borhood. On Tuesday evening tho Con
vention visited tho Academy of Fino Arts,
being'opon for its 3Slh annual exhibition.
It hihc most agreeable place to friend an
afternoon in all Philadelphia. It is open
nlsotilI ten o'clock in tho evening.
' ilcv. Mr. Miles, of Wilkes liarrr,
prcffohod tho Convention Sermon on Wed
nesday, In the evening wo had a Dioccs
an Missionary Meeting. Addresses wcro
madoby Bishop Bowman, aud several
clergymen and laymen. I will not at
tcmpto give oven a synopMS of the say
ings and doingi of tho Convention. Those
who'aro more especially interested in them
will 'find them reported in full in tho church
papers. Tho whole sitting wa very pleas
ant and agreeablo, and tho most kindly
andvl'christiau fuelling prevailed. The
Convention adjourned about two o'clock

,-Thojcsignatiou of tho Attorney Gene

political circles ; and tho Philadelphia In
quirer, is commending itself to the confi

most shameful corruption and rascality of
tho present State administration. See
the papor of Monday and Tuesday last
No'wondor Mr. Purvianco could no longer
with any self respect, remain a member of
it. Ila'had tho reputation of an honest
man, nndjio has not forfeited it.
Amid all tho no-party cry of tho Ad
ministration papers, tho announcement of
a dozen or fifteen'new postmasters is made,
Wo woro told that no removals would bo
i raado except for cause j but for theso no

' of this, nor so far as I know do they, cx
. ccpt that tho no-party prograino having
