Proprietors has gone to tho war ; and the

&Qr Wo call attention to tho very ex

Mexico for several years, on our first page.
It is one wc may ponder with profit. Let
no ono pass it by. It is pregnant with food
for thoui'lit.
SSr Tho now Station and tho continua

the trains will stop at the permanent depot,
but wo should think a few days more would
put things in ordor there.
t& Capt. F. Stewart of Ikrwick, was
in Harriiburg last week offering tho ser
vices of himsolf and Company to the Gov
ernment. He would fight as ho docs every
thing else, with all hU might ; and if he
got a company into the wars, wou'd gie a
good account of them.
C55We understand that it is proposed
to call tlio Company of A'oluntccra under
bapt. Rickctts, The Iron Uutuds. It is a
good name in itfelf, and well illustrates
the uaino and metal of the young men com
posing thn Company j but We submit wheth
. er it would not have been judicious to have
adopted some name which would have in
dicated to all readers, the locality whono
they cams ? Columbia couuty will follow
with pride tho course of her gallant 40113,
and will rejoice in tho honest fame they
may earn.

CSi The Ladies of llloomshurg prepared
and presented to Oapt. Rickctts' Company,
on Saturday afternoon last, a splendid
' flag.
Tho presentation address was made, on
' bohalf of tholadie$,by tho Rev. Mr. Dimm,
' of the Lutheran Church. It was happily
. conceived and well delivered.
On behalf of the Company, Ensign
Knorr received the flag and replied to tho
Address, in a most patriotic and eloquent
stylo. Roth speeches were fully up to the
occasion, and were listened to by a large
crowd of ladies and gentlemen.
Among tho member of the Company i
are ono Physician, two Lawyers, two Law
Students, three printers, all now or lately
from tho Democrat office, who will no
doubt handle tho "Shooting Stick" on tho
Jleld of battlo as steadily as they did here.
Wo shall try aud procuro a full list of tho
