,iho plant, caused by a too-extended pro
pagation by tubers. Tho only means of
.escaping tho scourgo is to regcuernto tho

tho seed. With each successive sowing of
Ftho seed, M. lioutorivo found that the

CUKIIANTS.
Among tho first things to bo done in tho
garden, in Spring, will be tho carooftho
) currant bushes. Let them bo thinned,
1 by cutting away some of the oldost wood,
and a part of the last vear's shoots. In
doing ihi, arrange so as to give tho whole
a rouaJ form, and cut away more on one
ti'li or the other of each bunch, as will
. give a handsome linear appearance to the
j row. Tho ground should bo forkod up
, tarly in the Spring, but without much
r interference with tho roots, and if not
' rich, some manure should bo forked in.
" Tto currant is easily produced; and it
" is veil worthy of cultivation from the fact
that it affords an agreeable and whole-
tome acid, at a time when there aro few
other fruits.

but littlo more than the dead wood and
tho ends of the runners should bo removed,

the family of Hoses, should at onco be

be allowed beforo it is now attended to.
Tho cherry trco should bo grafted as soon
