Dear Sir On last Friday evening,
v.umry aau, tho young people of Jcr-
soylotvn and vicinity, held a celebration in
honor of the birthday of fjEoitaE Wash
i.noton tho Father of his Countrv. The
weather being disagreeable and the roads
very bad, many on Friday morning antic
ipated a slim turn-cut ; but as tho evening
came so camo tho people, regardless of
roads or weather. About 4 o'clock, in the
afternoon tho Lloomsburg Urass Hand,
which had been cngaecd, camo marching
blowly into town, saluting the peonle on
all comers, with delightful wells of music.
Alter taking rcfrcshmonti at tho hotel of
A. K. Smith, they retired to the place of
amusement (tho old Episcopal Church) for
tho purpose of entertaining at tho various
intervals of the evening, as many as might
be present, with their melodious songs.

ably filled, and by tho time the exorcises
had fairly commenced, it wa crowded to
suffocation. At the ringing of the bell the
Hand played one of their cheerful tunes,
after which tho vaiious acoucs and per
formances commenced, continuing andend.

fellows, make splendid music, and we wish
them entire success and nrosnoritv in their
