It is now a settled point with all who have used
tho Vegetable Persian Pills that they aro prc-cmi-ncntly
tho best and most efficacious Family Medi
cine that has yet been used in America. If every
family could become acquainted with thep: Sovcr

bo prepared with a sure remedy to apply on the firs
appearance of disease, and then how much distress
would bo avoided and money saved, as well as the
lives of thousands who are hurried out of time by
neglecting disease in iu first stages, or by not being
in possession of a remedy which they can place de
pendence upon.
The Resurrection, or Persian Pills.
Tho name of theso pills orginalcd from tho cir
cumstance of the medicine being found only in tho
cemctuies of Persia. This vegetable production
being of a peculiar kind, led to experiments as to
ita medicinal qualities and virtues. In half a cen
tury it becamo an established medicine for the dis
eases of that country. Tho extract of this singu
lar production was introduced into somo parts of Eu
rope in the year 1783, nnd used by many celebrated
Physicians in curing certain diseases, whero all oth
er medicine has been used in Vain. Early in the
year irj, tne extract was combined with a certain
vegetable medicine imported from Dura Baca, in
tho East Indies, and formed into Pills. Tho admir
able effect of this compound upon tho human sys
tem, led physiicans and families into its general
use. Thcir jong established character their univer

qualities of their specific action upon tho glandular
part of tho system, aro such as will sustain their re

TO MOTHERS.
Messrs. E, Chase & Co Gents. Hearing
much said about the extraordinary effects of tho
Resurrection or Pereian Pills, upon thoso about to
become mothers, wc were induced to make a trial of
them. My wile was at that timo tho mother of five
children, and had suffeicd the most tedious and ex
cruciating pains during and after her confinement
of cach. She had tried every means and taken
much medicine, but found little or no relief. She
commenced taking the Persian Pills about three
months before her confinement (her health being ve
ry poor about tills length of timo previous) and in a
short time she was enabled by their use to attend to
tho cares of a mother to har family until her con
finement. At tho timo she commenced taking tho
Persian Pills, and for sovcral weeks pic. ious, she
was auucieu wiin a uiy nam cough, and ircquent
Bcvcio cramps, which the uso of the Pills entirely
removed before using half a box. It is with the
greatest confidenco that wo ndviso all those about to
becomo mothers to mako uso of tho Persian Pills.
All those that havo taken them in our neighbor

in after confinement, whero theso Pills aro taken.
Wo unitedly' say.let nono neglect taking them, for

" THAT THE LIFh PILL8 AND PHE
IS l"X BITTERS are excellent family Medicines.
Tho proprietor of these Medicines cannot too deep
ly impress upon the public mind the high impor
tance of an early or timely attention to sound health.
There arc very many in this community who do
not appreciate good health, until attacked by somo
violent disease, when they think they must immedi
ately send for a physician, and in consequence, they
aro perhaps confined to their beds for weeks, or even
months. Almost every ono is liablo to bo unwell at
times, and by neglect of proper treatment of them
selves, on such occasions, it is ycry often the case
that a severe attack of diseoso is tho consequence.
Such results may bo easily avoided, and should be;
and it h in a great measure tho object of Mr. MOF
FAT, that his publication should continually re
mind such persons of their danger. The following
letters go to show that tho Lifo Pills and Phcnnc
Bitters arc not only excellent family medicines, but
that they will, in very many instances, superccdo
tho necessity of calling a phinician. Tho principal
office is at 376 Broadway, where thousands of sim
ilar letters to Mr. Moffat, may be examined.
The followine letter was received from n ecntle-
mari who, a few months since, purchased somo of
tho Life Medicines lor tho uso oi ua family, and a
few of his friends
Napoli, N. Y., July 37, 1838.
Mr. W.B.Moffat Dear Sir The Life Pills and
Phcnix Bitters surpass every medicine 1 have been
acquainted with. In every instanco where it has
been used, a benefit has been derived, and every
person is satisfied. One man, troubled with a scrof
ulous humor, has been all but raised fiom the dead.
Another person, a female who has been unable to
leave her room for tho last two years, has been re
stored to health. Another troubled with sore throat
for more than a year, and also a burning tensatian
in her stomach and bowls, was completely cured by
threo doses of your Pills. Another; troubled with
a scvero nervous affection, attend wilhdyspepsia and
continued head-ache, and was so reduced as to bo
unablo to leave her bed, was, by tho use of one box
of Pills and bottle of Bitters, so far restored as to
be able to attend to her domestic concerns. And
lastly, an acquaintnnro of mine, has by thc.uso of
auottloot iiittersand twotioxesot 1'iIIs, beenmado
a perfectly Bound and healthy man. He had been
laboring under a complication of diseases for the

Dear Brother I embrace the present opportunity
of writing you a few lines. I recrhed the Lifo
Pills and Phcnix Bitters you sent me. for which 1
can nevcr'thank you enough, as they havo proved.
I hope, a perfect euro to me. I had for two years
been tioublcd with a severe pain in my side, I ap
plied to all tho doctors in this neighborhbod, but got
no relief until I took tho Pills nnd Bitters you wmt
me. Sinco I have token them I have been as well
as over I was in my life.
Yours affectionately, David McGiix,
The following is a copy of n letter from Terre
Haute Indiana:
Mr. W. B. Moffat Dear Sir I wrote vou a few
days since stating, briefly, tho quantity of "Life Pills
and Phcnix Bitters, I idiould want the cominn sea
son. When I accepted the agency of this Medi
cine in Juno hbt, (although your application was
accompanied by documents, attesting the great ben
efit of this medicine,) I hid no expectaiion that it
would equal Ihe description given of it, or give such
general satisfaction as tho experiment of a few
months has proved. I can only say that all who
have used it bear testimony of its great value and
efficiency. I know of ho instanco whore it has
been thought in tho slightest degrco injurious, and,
even thoso who aro afflicted beyond hope of cure,
bear testimony of its salutary influenco upon their
general health. The great and increasing demand
for tliiu article is the best assuranco of its usefulness,
and I would not wish to bo without it for a single
day. Respectfully, youis, J. F. Kixn.
The following is a copy of a letter from a lady in
East Lyme, Connecticut, to Mr. Moffat's agent:
East Lyme, Conn., May Cth, 1839.
Mr. Bradford Sir In regard to Dr. VV. B. Mof
at's Lifo Pils and Phcnix Bitters, I can truly say
from experience, they arc tho best mcdicino I have
any knowledgo of. Incrediblo as it may appear, I
have for eight months scarcely been able to walk a
cross a room, one month could not feed myself, had
the attendance of the best of physicians for months,
once and twice a day havo taken Patent Medicine
as far os directions would permit. Also, a celebra
ted Doctor's prescriptions, all of which has been a
courso of tho greatest perseverance I was capable
of. Yet I have received no moro than present re
lief; to give a similitude of my sjiffcrings is indes
cribable, l'et I will write tho symtoms of my dis
ease For ten years I havo suffeicd with a nervous
nffection in my head and face; a placo as large as a
hand in tho left sido of my back, connecting tho
shoulder described; a sensation of soreness, frequent
ly becamo as cold as if life had departed. In July,
1839, in consequence of overdoing, taking a hard
cold, 1 Was seized with a numbness in tho" system,
fainmesB, flatulency, pain in tho head, voracious ap
petite, and nt timoi deficient appetite, great loss of
muscular power.painin tho left sidc.also in the shoul
der and arm to tho greatest extent, palpitation of
tho heart, great distress in tlio back, gnawing in tho
stomach when empty, pressure after meals, amount
ing almost to suffocation, stricture across tho breast,
soro throat; aho a tickling, attended with a convul
sive cough, spitting of purulent matter, night sweati,
cold feet and bands, faetdbroath,co6tivcnos3, piles,
loss of memory, affection of bight and hearing, diz
iness, deafness, the mind became desponding, other
disagreeables not mentioned, which caused great
weakness, Ac. I happily, and can truly say, that by
tho blossing of Heaven, and the rcstorativo proper
ties of tho Life Pills and Pienix Bitters, I am re
stored to health, which no other modiciue could do.
Yours, &c.
