CONGRESS
For the first two weeks of ils Session,
lias been wholly engaged.-upon the-sub
ject of the nil-Mission of the New Jersiiy
members. Various propositions have been
made, discussed, and voted down, and the
house has been one continual scene of con
fusion and uproar most of the time. On
Wednesday the I lib ins't. resolutions wore
introduced and passed, excluding both setts
of members from voting until the question
as to their .right to seats was settled by the
house. Thursday was spent in discussing
. the propriety of appointing a committee of
election before the organization of the
house. This proposition was finally voted
down, and the house resolved to go Into an
election of speaker, when the house ad
jourued. On Saturday, in pursuance of
the resolution passed the day previous, the
lio'nso proceeded to elect a speaker, vive
voce, when the following ballotting look
place.

Upon the meeting of the House on Mon
day, the efiair announced that the. first busi
nets in order was on proceeding to the scv
cnth ballot for Spca'.kcr. The nanin of Mr,
Jones having been withdrawn the house pro
cceded to vote for Speaker, and the results
were as follows :
