titlo of tho " State Capitol Gazette." The Gazette
will bo devoted to the support and advancement of
democratic principles, based upon tho political and
philosophical truths of universal equality of right;
and the sovereignty of tho pcoplo's will designated
by the voice of tho majority that all civil govern
ment and law cminate from the people, exist only
by their assent or peimission, and that they have an
unalienable right to remodel, alter or abolish cither
rnt thoir pleasure, whenever they may deem it ne
cessary for their welfare and happiness, and that cv

we shall advocate at all times every measure tending
to strengthen tho bonds of tho common Union, and
to promote tho peace, security and happiness of tho
whole, so far as it can bo dono without compromit
ting any rights that may belong to an individual
state as a scyarato and indcpendenl sovereignty.
The Gazette will also support tho administration
of our worthy Executive of Pennsylvania Gover
nor Porter, ind its editors will ever cherish the prin
ciples which triumphed in his election, and which
through all tho desperate and dangerous machina
tions "put in rcquisitiou todefcathis inauguration,
by a reckless and abandoned party, established in
tho executive chair, as the landmarks of ourrcpubli
can safety and happiness. It shall also bo the study
of tho editors topromoto tho best interest of our vast
chain of internal improvements, and urging to a
speedy completion all the links necessary to secure
its immense connection, and to turn it to lasting
and profitable use.
Our foreign relation shall bo attended to, and
the public seasonably advised of every transaction
abroad, calculated to affect their political interests,
or awaken in private life a spirit of enquiry and research-
in tho various fields of philosophy, mechan
ics or literature.
Tho Gazetto will bo printed on a fine double me
dium sheet, and new type; and every attention be
stowed to render its mechanically execution perfect.
Tho fii st number of the Gazette will appear on
or about the thirteenth of June. Persons holding
tho proposals will bo punctual to return the samo by
the thirteenth of May. Letters by mail, post paid
will receive prompt attention.

THIS lino has commenced running regularly be
tween Wilkes-Barro, Northumberland, Will
amsport, Harrislurg to Piladclphia and all inter
mediate places. Tho Boats leave Whilkes-Uarro
daily, at S o'clock P. M. and urrivo at Northumber
land next morning at 7J o'clock A. M. and Harris
burg the following evening at 0 o'clock; where pas
sengers will remain over night, and tako the rail road
cars at 8 o'clock; A. M. and arrive at Philadelphia
by 2 o'clock, P. M. At Northumberland tho North
.and West Branch boatts connect : Thin lino arrives
at the junction of tho Junifta in time to connec
with all the western linos for Pittsburg.
Returning passengers by this line will leave Broad
street, Philadelphia, every day at 8 o'clock A. M.
and arrivo at Harrisburg at 3 o'clork P. M. North
umberland next morning 8 o'clock, Williumsport
by 7 P. M. and wilkes-Barro by 7 o'clock tho follow
ing morning through in 48 hours.
To famlics moving west this lino offers great ad
vantage charge upon freight very moderate, and

gives a condensed report of its proceedings weekly,
for one dollar In tho interval between the sessions
of Congress, wo publsh tho "Extra Globe," for
six months, containing the news, politics, public
documents, and whatever clso of interest oppears in
tho Daily Globe, for the same price. Those two
publications are printed weekly, in book form, to
render them convenient for preservation and refer
ence. Each number contains 1G royal quarto pa
ges. Tho important elections which will take phce
during tho approaching summer and fa'l. will civo
peculiar value to the information to be derived from
this quartet, during the canvass. The new phases
of parties in tho North, and the troubled aspect
which foreign agitation gives to our national af
fairs there, will also impart to tho country for tho
six months preceding tho meeting oftho next Con
gross, more than ordinary interest.
