FLORIDA WAR. Gen. A. MoC'omb, who it will be recol lected, was ordered sometime since to ro pair to Florida; and to ncgociato a peace with the Indiana in that quatlcr, has written a letter to the Secretary of War, giving a detailed statement of his operations. Ho represents the Indians as having been anx ious for peace, but desirous of remaining in that section of country for the present, hut thinks tliero will he no difficulty in eventu ally persuading them to emigrate west of the Mississippi, as soon as they can be sat isfied that their brethren who havo already gone there, are favorably located. But for the present ho has thought it advisable to conclude a treaty with them allowing them to remain within, that territory. The fol lowing general order of Gen. McComb, cm traces the substance of the treaty, the con ditions of which ho represents as having given general satisfaction to tho Indians, aud which Jib has no doubt will bo faithful ly kept on their part. Thus wo hope this interminable war, which hts cost the nation millions, has terminated. GENERAL ORDER. Headquarters of the Army of the U. S. Fort King, Florida, May 18, 1839. The Major-general-corn tnanding-in-chicf has the satisfaction of announcing to the ar my in Florida, to the authorities of the Ter ritory, and to the citizens generally, that he lias this day terminated the war with the Seminole Indians, by an agreement entered into with Chi'.to-Tustenuggc, principal chief of the Scminolcs, and successor to Ar-pi-cke, commonly called Sam Jones, brought to this port by Lieut, Col. Tho terms of the agree ment are that the hostilities immediately cease between the parlies; that the troops of the United States and the Seminole and Rlickasukic chiefs and warriors, now at a distance, bo made acquainted as soon as possible with the fact that peaco exists, and that all hostilities arc forthwith to cease on both sides; the Scminolcs and Micassukies agreeing to retire into a district of country in Florida below Pease creek, the bounda ries of which arc as follows viz: beginning at the most southern point of land between Charlotte harbor and the Colooshatchee river, at Sauybel Island; thence into Char lotte harbor by the southern pass between Pino Island and said point, along the east ern shore of said harbor to Talak-Chopko or Pease creek ; thence up that river to Hatchec Thloko or Big creek, thence up said creek to its source; thence easterly to the Northern point of lakelstnpoga; thence along the eastern outlet of said lake, called Istopoga creek, to tho . Kissimmc river; thence southwardly down the Kissnnme to lake Okc-Chobcc; thence south through said lake to Ecahlahatch ee or Shark river; thence down said river westwardly to its mouth; thence along the sea shore north wardly to the place of beginning; that six ty day3 bo allowed the Indians north and east of that boundary to remove their fami lies and eflccls into said district, where they are to remain until further arrangements are made under the protection of the troops o( the United Slates, who are to sec that they be not molested by intruders, citizens, or foreigners, and that the said Indians do not pass the limits assigned them, except to visit tho ports which will be hereafter indi cated to them.
