SMITH, Catasanqua Pa CONSUMPTIVES, READ WHAT DR. SCHEyOK IS DOING. DR. J. H. SCHENCK. Dean Sin —I feel it a dray I owe to you, and to all who are suffering under the diseases known as Consumption and Liver Complaint, to let them know what groat benefits I have rem ived from your Put amnia Syrup and Seaweed Tonto in so short a time. 3y the blessing of tied it ha cured me thus far. Dr. Schenck, I nlll now. make my ztatement to you, as follows :—About eighteen mow he ego I was attacked with a severe cough, and it eottled on my lungs; I could not retain anything I ate, and suf fered with evening fevers and night sweats. I was very much reduced. The whites of sby eyes were very yellow ; likewise my skin) my appetite all gone and unable to digest what I did oat; bowels swollen, irregular and costive. I was very low spirited, and had such violent spells of coughing when I laid down at night and when I arcs, in the morning that they would hot ono or two hours. I then Would; be nearly.' exhausted, and was en tirely unable to lie on my left stdo. I cannot de scribe my wretched euffsring as 1 would wish to do. Every organ in my body was diseased or deranged. Such was my situation at this time, and I was eon , fined to my bed from the last of February, 1862, to Juno, 1882, not able to sit up. I bad the best of medical attondanc3 the whole of the time. My cough was so very bad that it racked mo very much. I at this time raised a large quantity of thick, yel. low, offensive matter, sometimes with blood, and it was generally accompanied by nausea and a furred and think coated tongue. At the time of coughing so badly I would have sharp, shooting pains in my loft side and heart, night sweets, and aorenoss all through my whole ohest had much inward lever, pain in my Back and under my shoulder blades and in the email of my back, and at times so severe that it would throw mo into spasms. Now my physician gave me up to din. Others I had, and the best of them, but they could do nothing fur me, and at that time I was 'nothing but skin and bones. I then was in the vvestrirn part of Missouri. In June last we loft there for the East, and in August last wo came to New York, and I was so reduced that I could on ly walk a little with my husband's help. After I had boon here a short time the salt water breeze made me feel much butter for a time, and then I had again to nail a physician for aid. We Sad four of thn best physicians of Now York on the diseases of the lungs, the doctors of all kinds, but of no avail. They said I was past cure, and that my lungs were too far gone for any ono to cure me. But at this time I was on my feet about the house, not able to do much of anything. In November last I grew worse, and the consumption diarrhea set in and last ed about eight weeks. We had tried all and every thing that I could grasp at like a dying person for my diseases—consumption and liver complaint but of no avail. In January, 1883, I was brought down :main on my bed, and was not expected to live the night out. My husband stayed at my tide, and other friends, and they all gave me up to die. At this time every one who law me did not think I would over lea ve my bed a living woman. Tho first night I was at tacked with spasms, and was deranged most of the time. A friend, Mrs. Harris, came to see me the last of the week, and brought the Sunday Mereary. In it seas an account of a great cure performed by Dr. Schenck. Sho read it to me, and it was so much like-my disease that I asked my husband to go and see him for me. At this time . l bad given up all hopes of ever getting veil again, and made my ponce with God, to bo ready whenever he called for me. ' On the 27th of January,lB43, my husband called , on Dr. Schenck, 32 Bond street, Now York, and stab ed to him my ease, with a request for him to call and see me, which ho did, and examined mo with the respirottetor. When ho was about to go I asked him if be could cure mo ? His reply was i "I can not toll, both lungs are diseased, and the bronchial tubes are affected on both sides." And yet he seem ed to think there were lungs enough loft to effect a euro if the diarrhea could be stopped. Ile said in order to do this, he would have to give me Mandrake Pills in small doses at first, to carry off the morbid matter, and then, with astringents, he hoped to chock it which ho did, but the constant coughing, night sweats, and diarrhea had prostrated me so that ho was araid my vital powers were too much' prostrated ever to rally, and yet ho seemed to think if I could live to got enough Pulmonio Syrup thruugh my system to cause expectoration, there were lunge enough left to recover. Ile wished me to try tho Pulmonio Syrup and Seaweed Tonle at once, saying It would do tee no harm, if It did me no good. Allentown, July 18, 1865-Iy] Ayer's Sarsaparilla A compound remedy, designed to be the most effectual Alterative that can be made. It is a concentrated extract of Para Sarsaparilla, so combined with other substances of still greater alterative power as to afford an effec. tivo antidote for the diseases Sarsaparilla is reputed to cure. It is believed that such a remedy is wanted by those who suffer from &rumens complaints, and that one which will accomplish their cure must prove of immense service to this large class of our afflicted fellow citizens. How completely this compound will do it has been proven by experiment on many of the worst cases to be found of the following complaints : SCROFULA AND SCROFULOUS COMPLAINTS, EIIUPTI NS AND ERUPTIVE DISEASES, ULCERS, PIMP , 13torc11ns, Tenons, SALT RHEUM, SCALD , CAD, SYPHILIS AND SYPHILITIC AF FECTIONS, MERCURIAL DISEASE, DROPSY, NEU- ; .4 RALCIA. OR TIC DOULOUREUE, DEBILITY, DYS• PEI'SIA AND INDIOP.STION, ERYSIPELAS, Rosa on ST. ANTHONY'S Finn, and indeed the whole class of complaints arising from LAreuntrx op THE BLOOD. 3 This compound will be found a great pro moter of health, when taken in the spring, to expel the foul humors which fester in the blood at that season of the year. By the time ly expulsion of them many rankling disorders are nipped in the bud. Multitudes can, by the aid of this remedy, spare themselves from the endurance of foul eruptions and ulcerous sores, through Ivhich the system will strive to rid itself of corruptions, if not assisted' to do this through the natural channels of the body by an alterative medicine. Cleanse out the vitiated blood whenever you find its impurities bursting through the skin hi pimples, eruptions, or sores; cleanse it when you find it is ob structed and sluggish in the veins ;* cleanse it whenever it is foul, and your feelings will tell yoii when. Even where no particular disorder is felt, people enjoy better health, and live longer, for cleansing the blood. Keep the blood healthy, and all is well; but with this pabulum of life disordered, there can be 'no lasting health'. Sooner or later something must go wrong, and the great machinery of life is disordered or overthrown. CM Sarsaparilla has, and deserves much, the reputation of accomplishing these ends. But the world has been egregiously deceived by preparations of it, partly because the drug alone has not all the virtue that is clahned for it, but more because many preparations, pretending to be concentrated extracts of it, contain but little of the virtue of Sarsaparilla, or any thing else. During late years the public have been mis led by large bottles, pretending to give a quart of Extract of Sarsaparilla for one dollar. Most of these have been frauds upon the sick, for they not only contain little, if any, Sarsapa rilla, but often no curative properties whatev er. Hence, bitter and painful disappointment has followed the use of the various extracts of Sarsaparilla which flood the market, until the name itself is justly despised, and has become synonymous with imposition and cheat. Still we call this compound Sarsaparilla, and intend to supply such a remedy as shall rescue the name from the load of obloquy which rests upon it. Any we think we have gronnd for believing it has virtues which are irresistible by. the ordinary run of the diseases it is intend ed to cure. In order to secure their complete eradication from the system, the remedy should be judiciously taken according to directions on the bottle. PREPARED BY DR. J. C. AVER & CO. LOWELL, MASS. Price, $1 per Bottle; Six Bottles for v s. Ayer's Cherry Pectoral has won for itself such a renown for the cure of every variety of Throat and Lung Complaint, that it is entirely unnecessary for us to recount the evidence of its virtues, wherever it has been em. ployed. As it has long been in constant use throughout this section, wo need not do more than assure the people its quality is kept up to the best it ever has been, ana that it may be relied on to do for their relief all it has over been found to do.
