BLOCIIMAN respectfully informs the citizens of
. Allentown and vicinity. that he is now prepar- .
oil to take AMBROTYPES in connection with
Daguerreotypes. His Ambrotypcs are far superior
to those of mly other operator in town—however much
may be talked of the " Patent" Ambiotype, to the con
trary notwithstanding. The Ainbrotype is it new and
hmustiful style of picture taken on glass, and unequall
ed by any other style. They are without the glare of
the Daguerreotype, and therefore can be seen in any
view. They can be seen on either side of the plate,
are not reversed, and show every thing in its truo po
sition. Their cost is but a trifle more then a daguer
reotype, and they aro indestructablo to the action of
the atmosphere, and cannot be injured 'by rubbing or
washing. Both Ambrotypes and Daguerreotypes
taken in. an unsurpassed style without regard to
weather. By long experience, arduous toil, it desire
to please, and heavy investments of capital, he feels
assured that any ono who may favor him with a cull
will receive in return a perfect picture, not to
be excelled, in point of artistic beauty, by any one
in this section of country. Ho would also invite at

range in price front 75 cents to 10 dollars. Please

HRH. FAIR. FAIR•
Tll 11 Agricultural Fair always attracts considerable 1
attention in the Mind of the public, and always
brings scores of strangers to town, most of whom
make some kind of a purchase while here, and of
course try to carry out self-interest by buying where
they can get the cheapest and most fashionable arti
cles for the leant money. We therefore take this meth
od of informing the public that we have just received
our Full and Winter stock of Dry Goods, Ready-Made

than any other Store in town, and for the proof of
what wo say we only .ask a call before purchases are
made elsewhere, as we don't charge anything for
showing what we have. not force any person to buy
if prices, styles and ?polity arc not suitable. We are I
confident we have the most fashienable goods in town,
because we have no 20 year old'stock on our shelves
like some others, which is frequently palmed off for

remaining. We buy exclusively for CASH, and by
gaining that per ventage we can sell lower than those
who buy on tick," and who arc therefore compelled

IDIFROVED FIRE AND WATER PROOF
LOMPOSITION ROOM.
Joseph Clowell, Allentown, Agent for Lehigh Co.
YOUR attention is respectfully •solicited to the
above method of Roofing, now much used in
Philadelphia and vicinity, and Which line been exten
sively in use in many of the cuffs of the West, during
more than eleven years past, luring which time it
has been tested under every variety of circumstances,
and we confidently offer It to the public as a mode of ;
Roofing unobjectionable in every importaMpnrtieular,
while it combines, in a greater degree than any other
roof in use, the valuable requisites of cheapness, du
rability, and security against both fire and water.—
This is rapidly superseding the use of nil other hinds
of roofs, wherever it has been.introduced, giving gen
eral satisfaction, and is highly recommended by nil
who have tested its utility. These roofs require no
inclination of not more than ono inch to the foot,
which is of great advantage in case of fire, and for
drying purposes. They are offered at a price consid
erably less than any other roof in use, while the
amount of material saved, which would otherwise be
used in extending up the walls and framing for a
Steep roof, often makes a still farther important re
duction in the cost of building. Gutters may be
formed of the same material as the roof, at much less
expense than any other. In case of defect or injury,
from any cause, there is no roof so easily repaired.
The materials being mostly non-conductors of heat,
no roof is so cool in summer, or so warm in winter.
Those wishing to use our roof, should give the rafters
a pitch of about one inch to the foot. For further in
forniation apply to Joseph Clewell, at Allentown, our
agent for Lehigh and Carbon counties, who is pre
pared to execute all orders at short notice.

•'-' 6 :O-.;k PILLS.
FOB, ALL THE PURPOSES OF A
FAMILY PHYSIC.
THERE has long existed a public demand for an
effective purgative pill which could be relied en as
sure and perfectly safe in its operation. This has
been prepared to meet that demand, and an exten
sive trial of its virtues has . eonelnsively shown with
What success it accomplishes the purpose designed.
It is easy to make n physical pill. but not easy to
make the best of all pills— one which should have
none of the objections, but all the advantages, of
every other. This has been attempted here, and
with what success we would respectfully submit to
the public decision. It has been unfortunate for
the patient hitherto that almost every purgative
medicine is acrimonious and irritating to the bow
els. This is not. Many of them produce so much
griping pain and revulsion in the system as to more
that counterbalance the good to be derived from
them. These pills produce no irritation or pain,
unless it arise from a previously existing obstruc
tion or derangement in the bowels. Being purely
vegetable. no harm can arise from their use in any
quantity; but it is better that ally medicine should
be taken judiciously. Minute directions for their
use in the several diseases to which they are ap.
lineable arc given on the box. Among the corn
plaints which have been speedily cured by them, we
may mention Liver Complaint, in its various forms
of .Inundice, Indigestion, Languor and Loss of Ap
petite, Listlessness, Irritability, Bilious Ileadache,
Bilious Fever, Fever and Agile, Pain in the Side
and Loins ; for, in truth, all these are but the con
sequence of diseased action in the liver. As an
aperient they afford prompt and sure relief in Cos
tiveness, Piles, Colic, Dysentery, Humors, Scrof
ula and Scurvy, Colds With soreness of the body,
Ulcers and impurity of the blood ; in short, any
and every case where a purgative is rermired.
They have .also produced some singularly" suc
cessful cures in ltheumatism, Gout. Dropsy, Gravel,
Erysipelas, Palpitation of the Ileart, Pains in the
Back, Stnmach. and Side. They should lie freely
taken in the spring of the year, to purify the blood
and prepare the system for the change of seasons.
An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and
bowels into healthy action, and restores the appe
tite and vigor. They purify the blood, and, by their
stimulant action on the eireitlatory system, reno
vate the strength of the body, and restore the
wasted'or diseased energies of the whole organism.
Hence an occasional dose is advantageous, even
though no serious derangement exists ; but un
necessary dosing should never be carried too far,
as every purgative medicine reduces the strength,
when taken to excess. The thousand cases in which
a physic is required cannot be enumerated here, but
they suggest themselves to the reason of every
body ; and it is confidently believed this pill will
answer a better purpose than any thing which has
hitherto been available to mankind. When their
virtues are once known, the public will no longer
doubt what remedy to employ when in need of a
cathartic medicine. Being sugar-wrapped they are
pleasant to take, and being purely 'vegetable, no
harm can arise from their me ni any quantity.
