Ills Ambrotypes aro far superior to those of any other operator iu town—however much may be talked of the " Patent," Ambrotype, to tho con trary notwithstanding. The Ambrotypo is a new and beautiful style of picture taken on glass, and unequall ed by any other style. They aro without the glare of the Daguerreotype, and therefore can be seen in any view. They can be seen on either side of the plate, aro not reversed, and show everything in its true po salon. The Wino% Central Railroad Company IS NOW PREPARED TO SELL 401 OVER TWO MILLION OF ACRES OF FARNIIINC LANDS, In Tracts of 40 acres and upwards, on long Credits and at low rates of Interest. THESE lands were granted by tho Government, to 1. aid in thu construction of this Railroad, and in clude some of thu richest and most fertile Prairies in' the State, interspersed hero and them with magnifi cent groves of oak and other timber. The Road ex tends from Chicago, ou tho North-East, to Cairo at the South, and from thence to Galena and Dunlsith, in the North-west extreme of the State, anti as all the lands lio within fifteen miles on each side of this Road, ready and cheap means are afforded by it for trans porting the products of the lands to any of those points and from thence to Eastern and Southern markets. Moreover, the rapid growth of flourishing towns and villages along the line, and the great in croaso in population by immigration, etc., afford substantial and growing home-demand for farm 'pro duce. The soil is a dark, rich mould, from ono to five feet in depth, is gently rolling and peculiarly fitted fur , grazing cattle and sheep, or the cultivation of wheat, Indian corn, etc. Economy in cultivating and great productiveness nre the well known charneteristica of Illinois lands. Trees arc not required to bo cut down, stumps grub bed, or stone picked off, ns is generally the ease in cultivating new laud in the older States. The first crop of Indian corn, planted on the newly broken sod, usually repays tho cost of plowing and fencing. Wheat sown on tho newly-turned sod is sure to yield very large profits. A man with a plow and two yoke of oxen will break one and a half to two acres per day. Contracts can be made for breaking, ready for corn or wheat, at from $2 to 2,50 per acre. By judicious management, the land may be plowed and fenced the first, and under a MO state of cultivation the second year. Corn, grain, cattle, etc., will ho forwarded at rea sonable rates to Chicago, for the Eastern market, and to Cairo for the Southern. Tho larger yield on the cheap lands of Illinois over the high-priced lands in the Eastern and Middle States ' is known to ho much more titan sufficient to pay the differenceof transpor tation to the Eastern market. Bituminous coal is mined at several points along the Road, and is a cheap and desirable fuel. It can be delivered at several points along the Road at 81,50 to 84,00 per ton; Wood can be had at the same rates • per cord. Those who think of settling in lowa or Minnesota, should bear in mind that lands there of any value, along the water courses and for many miles inland, have been disposed of,—that for those located in.the interior, there are no conveniences for transporting to market the produce, Railroads not having been intro duced there. That to send the produce of these lands ono or two hundred miles by wagon to market, would cost much nioro than the expense of cultivating them, and hence, Government lands thus situated, nt $1,25 per acre, aro not so good investments as the land of this company at the prices fixed. The same rewrite bold good in relation to the lands in Kansas and Nebraska, for although vacant lands army be found nearer the water courses, the distance to market is far greater, and every hundred miles the produce of those lands aro carried either in wagons;, or interrupted water communications, increases the expenses of transportation, which must be borne by the settlers, in the reduced price of their products, and to that extent precisely aro the incomes front their farms, end of course on their investments, anuu• ally and every year reduced. Tim groat fertility of the lands now oared for sale by this company, and their consequent yield over those of the Eastern and Middle States, is much more than -sufficient to pry the difference in the cost of transportation, especially in view of the facilities furnished by this Road, and others with which it con nects, the operations of which aro not interrupted 1 y the low water of summer, or tho frost of winter. PRICE AND TERMS OP PAYMENT. Tho price will vary from $5 to $2O, according to location, quality, etc. Contracts for Deeds may be made during the year 1856, stipulating the purohnst money to be paid in five annual installments. Tha first to become due in two years from the date of con tract, nod the others annually thereafter. The las payment will become duo at the cud of the sixth ye, from the date of the contract. Interest aid Sc charged at o n ly three per cent. p MI As a security to the performance of the contract. the lir(d two years' interest lutist ho paid in advance, mid it must be understood that at least ono tenth of the land purchased shall yearly ho brought under cultivation. Twenty per cent. front the credit price will he de ducted for cash. Thu Company's construction bonds will be received us cash. Rea/1/mm(l Arm buildings, which Can 50 set up in a fele days, can be obtained front responsible. per sons. They 'will be 12 feet by 20 foot, divided into one living and three bud-rooms, and will cost complete Oct up on ground chosen anywhere along the Road, $l5O in cash, exclusive of transportation. Larger buildings may be contracted for at proportionate rates. Tho Company will forward all the materials over their road promptly. Special arrangements with dealers can bo made to supply those purchasing the Company's lands with fencing materials, agricultural tools, and nn outfit of provisions in any quantity, at tho lowest wholesale prices. It is believed that tho price, long credit, and low rate of interest, charged for those hinds, will enable a man with a few hundred dollars in cash and ordinary in dustry, to male himself independent before all the purchase money becomes duo. In the mean time, the rapid settlement of the country will probably have increased their value four or five fold. - When requir ed, an experienced person will accompany applicants, to giie information and aid in selecting lands. Circulars, containing numerous instances of suc cessful farming, signed by respectable and well-hnown farmers living in the neighborhood of the Railroad lands, throughout tho State—also the cost of fencing, price of cattle, expense of harvesting, etc., by con tract.—or any other information—will be cheerfully given, on application, either personally or by letter, in English, Trench, or German, addressed to JOHN WILSON, Land Commissioner of the Illinois Central Rail R. April 10. • • AYER'S rik PILLS FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A FAMILY PHYSIC. THERE has long existed a public demand for an effective purgative pill which could be relied on as sure and perfectly safe in its operation. This has been prepared to meet that demand, and an exten sive trial of its virtues has conclusively shown with what success it accomplishes the purpose designed. It is easy to make a physical pill, but not easy to make the best of all pills —one which should have none of the okjections, but all the advantages, of every other. This has been attempted here, and with what success we would respectfully submit to the public decision. It has been unfortunate fur the patient hitherto that almost every purgative medicine is acrimonious and irritating to the bow els. This is not. Many of them produce so much griping pain end revulsion in the system as to more than counterbalance the good to bo derived from them. Thesis pills produce no irritation or pain, unless it arise from a previously existing obstruc tion or derangement in the bowels. Being purely vegetable, no harm can arise from their use in any quantity; but it is better that any medicine should be taken judiciously. Minute directions for their use in the several diseases U. which they are ap plicable are given, on the box. Among the cons plaints which have been speedily cured by them, we may mention Liver Complaint, in its various forms of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Loss of Ap petite, Listlessness, Irritability, Bilious Headache, Bilious Fever, Fever and Ague, Pain in the Side and Loins ; for, in truth, all these are but the con sequence of diseased action in the liver. As an aperient they afford prompt and sure relief in Cos tiveness, Piles, Colic, Dysentery, Humors, Scrof ula and Scurvy, Colds with soreness of the body, Ulcers and impurity of the blood; in short, any and every case where a purgative is required. They have also produced some singularly suc cessful cures in Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsy, Gravel, Erysipelas, Palpitation of the Heart, Pains in the Back, Stomach, and Side. They should he freely taken in the spring of the year, to purify the blood and prepare the system for the change of seasons. An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and bowels into healthy action, and restores the appe tite and vigor. They purify the blood, and, by their stimulant action on the circulatory system, reno vate the strength of the body, and restore the wasted or diseased energies of the whole organism. Hence an occasional dose is advantageous, even though no serious derangement exists but un necessary dosing should never be carried too far, as every purgative medicine reduces the strength, when taken to excess. Tho thousand cases in which a physic is required cannot be enumerated here, but they suggest themselves to the reason of every body ; and it is confidently believed this pill will answer a better purpose than any thing which has hitherto been available to mankind. When their virtues are once known, the public will no longer doubt what remedy to employ when in need of a cathartic medicine.
