    PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS, the lion. Washington Mc-
Cartney, President of the several Courts of
common pleas of the Third Judicial District,
composed of the counties of Northampton and
Lehigh, St.ite of Pennsylvania, and Justice,
of the several Courts of Oyer and Terminer
and general Jail delivery, and Peter Haas,
and Jacob Dillinger, Esqrs., Judges of the
Courts of Oyer and Terminer and generally
Jail delivery, for the trial of all capital of
fenders in the said county of Lehigh. By
their precept's to me directed have ordered
the court of Oyer and Terminer and Gen
eral Jail Delivery, to be holden at Allentown,
county of Lehigh, on the
Last Monday in August, 1853,
which is the 29th day of said month, and
will continue two weeks.
• NOTICE is therefore hereby given to the
Justices of the Peace and Constables of the
county cf . Lehigh, that they are by the said
precepts commanded to be there at 10 o'clock
in the forenoon, of said day, with their rolls,
records, inquisitions, examinations, and all
other rememberences, to do these things
which to their offices appertain to be done,
and all those who are bound by recognizan
ses to prosecute against the prisoners that
are or then shall be in the jail of said coun
ty of Lehigh, are to he then and there, to
prosecute them as shall be just. •
Given under my hand in Allentown, the
3d day of August in the year of our Lord,
one thousand eight hundred and fifty three.

nineteenth day of April, 1853, entitled "an
Act to incorporate the Allentown Railroad
Company," and in conformity to the provi•
sions thereof, .Noticei.4 hereby given, by the

fully informi:d, that from to day, Jane Ist,
185:1, a daily line of stages will commence
running between Allentown and l'otttown,
and in connection with the Reading Railroad
convey passengers to Philadelphia. Thee
Stages will leave J. Y. Bechtel's, American
Hotel; A &mown, every mornin g (illundays ,
excepted) at 2 o'clock A. M. and the pa.• ,
sengers will arrive in Philadelphia at half
past 11 o'clock A. M., and in time to take
the Western Railroad train for Pittsburgh.
They will arrive in Pottstown in time to take'
the morning up-train to Reading and Potts.,
ville, and arrive at the former place at 10 f
and at the latter, at 12 o'clock P. M.
The undersigned will spare neither tirue•,,
expense or trouble to make this line one of
the best to travel to either of the above
named places. He has engaged sober and
careful drivers, fast horses and good coach
es, and being that the route passes through
a delightful country, many will choose to
travel it on this account.

Wherever this system has been tried, it
has excited the admiration of all who wit
nessed it, and we might fill n volume with
the testimonials received in its favor. We
append but one.
Believing the introduction of Pelton's sys
tem of teaching Geography` by the use of
his series of Outline Maps, into the schools of
our city, would enable the pupils to acquire
a better, more lasting, and more practical
knowledge of that science, than is general
ly acquired, and in one fourth of the time
usually devoted to that study, the under
signed, Teachers in Rending, most cheerful
ly recommend it to the Directors of the
different wards, for their adoption.
