Digestion. Digestion is chiefly per.;
formed in the stomach by the aid of a fluid
which freely exudes from the inner coat of

Pepsin and Rennet.—Pepsin is the.cluel
element, or great digesting principle of the
Gastric Juke. It is found in great abun
dance in the soid parts of the human sto
mach after death, and sometimes causes the
stomach to digest itself, or eat itself up. It
is also found in the stomach of animals. as
the ox, calf, &c. It is the material used by
farmers in making cheese, called RenriM.',.
