When we have pnin in the head, in the bowels, or in any other part of tho body, it only proves the presence of matters which the blood is trying to re move, and it is this struggle which is the oc casion of pain. To be bled, only removes the anguish in proportion as the amount of life is reduced, and the same may be said of ullin or soothin_ remedies. Not ,so with Brandreth's Pills ; they' nt once go to the assistance of the blood in, aiding it to discharge had humors, to conquer the Death Principle. To relieve Pain in this way does not leave any bud effiTts, The Life Principle is not reduced, nor are the teeth destroyed ; but nll the organs are cleansed and their health insured. rW'' The above Pills are for sale by the dozen or single box at the Register Office in Allentown. Another Scientific 'Wonder .I.N".IRTIFICISI, DIGESTIVE Fluid; or Gastric SVIICe A GREAT DISPEPSIA-CUREn Prepared from Rennet, or the fourth Stornach of the Ox, efter directions of Baron Lie big, the great Physiological Chemist, by .1. S. Hort p;hton. M. D., No. 11, North Eighth Street, Philadelphia, Pa. This is a truly wonderful remedy for In digestion, Dyspepsia, Jaundice, Live?' Complaint, Constipation, and Debility, caring after Nature's own method, by Nature's own agent, the Gastric Juice. tallalf a teaspoonful of this Fluid, infused in water, will digest or dissolve, Flee Pounds of Roast Beef in about t%oo hours,' out of the stomach. Digestion. Digestion is chiefly ] of a BIOMES COME which freely exudes from the inner coat'oP thai organ, when in a state of heafili, r!alledl the Gastric Juice. This fluid is the Great . - Solvent of the Food, the Purifying, PreserV , ing and Stimulating Agent of the stomachs and intestines. Without it there will be no' digestion -- no conversion of food into blood,- and no nutrition of the body ; but rather a foul, torpid. painful, and destructive concii4 - tion of the whole digestive apparatus. A weak. half dead, or inj u red stomach prod u- ces no good Gastric Juice,. and hence then disease, distress and debility which ensue. Pepsin and Rennet.-4)epin is the chief element, or great digesting principle of the Gastric Juice. It is found in great abun dance in the solid parts of the human sto mach after death, and sometimes causes tho stomach to digest itself, or eat itself up. It is also found in the stomach of animals, as the ox, calf, &c. It is the material used by farmers in making cheese, called Rennet, the effect of which has long been the spe cial wonder of the dairy. The curdling of milk is the first process of digestion. Ren net possesses astonishing power. • The sto mach of a calf will curdle nearly'one thou- sand times its own weight of milk. Baron Liebig states that, "One part of Pepsin dissolved in sixty thousand parts of water, will digest meat and other food." Diseased stomachs produce no good Gastric Juice, Rennet or Pepsin. To show that this want may be perfectly supplied, we quote the following • Scfrirlific Evidence!—Baron his celebrated work on Animal Chemistry, says: "An Artificial Digestive Fluid may be readily prepared front the mucous-mem brane of the stomach of the Call, in which various articles of food, as meat and e , rgs, will be softened, changed, and digested, just in the same manner as they would be in the human stomach." Dr. Pereira, in his famous treatise on •Food and Diet," published by W ikon & Co., New York, page 83, states the same great fact, and describes the method of pre raration. There are few higher authori ties than Dr. Pereira Dr. John W. Draper, Professor of Che mistry in the Medical Collette of the Llni 7 versity of New York, in his "Text Book of Chemistry," tin Ere 3Stt, says. "it has been a question whether arlifwialdivestion he perform,.—but it i.: now 'mit-et...ally ad mitted that it may be." Professor his great work on I Itunim d votes more than filly pains to an exit:Mil:l -lion or this subject.
