which farmers can try, who have the material
to spare, and desire an extra nice dish for
special occasions: Take a quart of cream, or if
liat desired very rich, add one pint of new
air; warm it in hot water (if necessary) un
tit it is the temperature of milk from the cow.
Adds teaspoofull of rennet ; let it stand till
thick, then break it slightly with a spoon and
place it in a frame eight inches square and
fonrirtehee deep, in which a Inc canvass cloth
has been placed. Press it slightly with a
weight, let it stand twelve hours, then put a
Suer cloth in the frame—a little powdered salt
&staid be put, over the cloth ; it will be fit for
use In a day or two_

Pneumatic Express company, which has been
Gaming her Majesty's mail through a part of
the city of London has met with such decided
stunness that they propose to extend their ope
rations. Thirty trains per day have been run
with perfect regularity, and it is said that this
number can be almost indefinitely increased,
without appreciable difference in expense. In
the experiments made, one hundred and sev
enty-two trains wore run in a day, each
train averaging a ton and a half in weight,
though they might have been loaded much
heavier. The expense of conveying them was
squid to one pence and a half per ton. The
new tube that is to be laid Will be fifty-four
inches in diameter, and two and a half miles
in length.

Sibley's expedition against the Indians, was
John Reamer, a wealthy Englishman, a gradu
ate of Oxford, and former officer on the staff
of Lord Raglan. Re had come from England
on N. buffalo hunt in the ?nab -ant, and took
&1101linal position on Gen. Sibley's staff to
gratify his taste of adventure. Sent on recon
noitering service, he was caught in ambuscade
and shot down with iron-headed arrows, the
naireges scalping him and hacking off one side
of his head while he was yet alive. He leaves
a splendid yacht and a large library in New
York..
VeLTETERRING IN NEW JERSEY.—CoI. Romer,
of Jersey City, hag notified all recruiting eta-
Lions within his command to close, as the entire
%seta of that city has been raised. There are
nearly 6,000 volunteers in camp in the State,
en of which have been obtained within twenty
days. The greater portion are veteran troupe,
vita were induced to millet in the New Jersey
registente on account of the bounties offered
by the cities and counties in the State. The
number of troops required from New Jersey
by the government is S,7SR, and of thee
:early two-thirds have been raised by volun
teers.
Great Britain having determined to get up a
mar with Japan has set her newspapers to ea
inunisting that country. kraals') says she is
engaged in the Japan-blacking line.
