WHERE TEE GOLD Is?—What has become of the
gold coin? asks everybody. The late . advance of
the. rebels into this State has thrown some light
on the mystery. When the "butternuts" were sup
posed to be moving on Pitteburg, the bankers of
that city thought it prudent to remove their coin,
and the American EtpreSS company delivered to
Cleveland, on the 15th inst.,sls, ooo, ooo' in gold,
and on the succeeding day $7,000,000 more, of
which $650,000 was also in gold. There is as
much gold in the country as ever, but it has fled
into strong boxes like a frightened animal takes
to its hole, and nothing but gunpowder can snake
it out:

CINCINNATI, Jane 23 --Burnside has sent a pro-,
vost marshal and three hundred black guards to
Washington to arrest the President for interfering
wits his arrest in the Vallandigharn case. Burn
side says that "so long as !unitary power is supreme
in the tend, no darned beat pilot shall interfere
with the military decisions of the first General of
the age."
Lincoln will probably be sent to the Dry Tor
tugas, or to the Western Reserve.

charge of treason.

shoulder-strapped upstarts, who don't even know
which is the front end of a flat-boat, is becoming
unbearable.
This will nulled bum to another arrest.
HARPERS FERRY, June 19.—The Circuit Court

HELENA, June 19, via Cairo, June 22.
There is no news of importance.
Gen. Pope is drawing pity as usual.
Abirrenme, 0., June 23.—The news of the
suppression of the Rau isburg "Telegraph" by Gen.
Lee creates great indignation throughout the
Western Reserve. The Giddings men fully ap
prove the brave and discreet course of its editor
during the late invasion.
Large contributions of cheese are being made
for bie relief.
The enthusiasm fur the cheese fund is immense.
FORT Coron.—The fortifications bearing this
name, on Hummel's heights, opposite this place,
are nearly complete. The works are very strong.
A large number of workmen are still employed in
the ditches in front of the escarpment, and others
are at work on the hill still farther beyond. The
beautiful grove which crowned the crest of Hum
mel's hill has all disappeared and been wrought
into defensive works, and not a stalk of the waving
wheat or elover now holds up its head; all is beaten
down into the ground by the tramp of soldiery and
the coming and going of horses and wagons. The
view from the breastworks of Fort Couch is beau
tiful and magnificent. It commands the Cumber
land valley, and the eye of the beholder takes in
the majestic sweep of the Suiquehanna for miles
above and below, with the dark groves, the green
fields and smiting meadows on either side, while
beneath him lies she bustling State Capital. It is
a scene of peace, such as the painter would love to
paint. Yet in the background the .whitetents of
. the warrior, and upon the mountain stands the
genius of War, brooding doer the` . scene,.

Is Comrsa.—Nixon . 's celebrated circus, from
the Cremorne Gardens, New York, is announced
to exhibit.in this city for one week, beginning on
Monday next. We know whereof we affirm when
we say that this circus ie unqualifiedly a good one,
and a good start ahead of all competitors. They
have exhibited with marked sucoess during the
present season in Baltimore, Philadelphia, and
other eastern cities. The best names are an
nettneed upon their bills, among which we would
call attention particularly to that of Yoe Cook, the
famous 4propean jester, who is star in his pecu
liar line, and a thorough gentleman, whether . in
the ring or in the drawing room. Baton Stone's
equestrian ism needs neeommendation, as his fame
is wide as the country. The elite are commended
to this exhibition, with the assurance that to re
