LYON'S PURE OHIO cATAWBA
BRANDY.
THE OHIO CATAWBA BRANDY has, for several
years, been manufactured from the pure juice of the
AMERICAN CATAWBA and ISABELLA GRAPE, and
has attained a rare popularity throughout the West and
South, where great quantities of this superb article is
sold for MEDICINAL and FAM ILY purposes. It not
only equals, but excels the most choice IMPORTED
BRANDIES in PURITY, QUALITY and RICHNESS OF
FLAVOR, and whereter it has been introduced it had
invariably met the most unqualified favor and extended
sale.
The want of really pure Brandy has long been felt in
this country, and the opportunity to procure an article
of such quality as to aupBreede the sale and ilea of the
many vile compounds so often sold under the name of
, c Brandy," can be regarded only as a public good.
L. LYON'S CATAWBA BRANDY possesses all the
clardee qualities of the best imported liquor, and is posi
tively known to be of rmszot PURITY and of ou-
P.BRIOR FLAVOR.
In support of the above statement, we refer to the
certificate of the undermentioned well-known chemists:

EMPIRE SHUTTLE MACHINE.
PATENTED rznit.vAnv 14th, 1880.
SALESROOM, 510 BROADWAY,
ISTMIinT "EC)I S I.IA.
Thin Machine is constructed on an entirely new prin
ciple of mechanism, possessing many rare and valuable
improvements, having been examined by the most pro
&nal experts, and pronounced to be SIMPLICITY and
PARTECTION COMBINED.
The following are the principal objections urged
against sewing Machines:-
I.—Excessive labor to the 4.-li/capacity to oew every
operator. description of material.
2.—Liability to get out of s.—Disagreeable noise
order. I while in operation.
3 —Expense, trouble and
lose of time in repairing
The Empire Sewing Machine is Exempt from
all these Objections.
If has a straight-needle perpendicular action, makes
file LOCK or SHUTTLE STITCH, which will neither
RIP nor RAVEL, and is alike on both sides; performs
perfect sewing on every description of material, from
Usother to the finest Nansook Muslin, with cotton, linen
or silk thread, from the coarsest to the finest number.
Having neither CAM nor COG WHEEL, and the least
possible friction, it runs as smooth as glass, and is
EMPHATICALLY A NOISELESS WHINE
It requires FIFTY PER CENT. less power to drive it
ban any other Machine in market. A girl of twelve
years of age can work it Steadily, without fatigue or in
say to health.
Its strength and WONDERFUL SIMPLICITY of eon.
straction render it almost impossible to getout of order,
and is GUARANTEED by the company to give entire
Malefaction.
We respectfully invite all those who may desire to
supply themselves with a superior SAWS, to Cal and
examine this UNRIVALLED MACHINE.

To Br. 0. M. Jackson.—Although not disposed to.
favor or reeommend Patent Medicines in general,
through distrust of their ingredients and effects, I yet
know of no sufficient reason why a man may net testify
to the benefit he believes himself to have received from
toy simple preparation, in the hope that he may thu
contribute to the benefit of othere.
I do this morereadily in regard to 4 Sootland , s German
Bitters," prepared by Dr. C. M. Jackson, of this env.
because I was preudiced against them for year,,
under
the impression that they were chiefly an alcoholic mix
ture. lam indebted to my friend, Robert Shoemaker,
Eeq., for the removal of this prejudice by proper te s t s
and for encouragement to try them when sufferlogfrom
great and long continued debility. The use of three
bottles of the; a Bitters, at the beginning of the present
year, was followed by evident relief and restoration to s
degree of bodily and mental vigor which I bad not felt
for six mouths before, and had almost despaired of rs.
gaining. I therefore thank God and my friend for di
rooting we to the use of them.
