MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF ARRANGEMENTS

ments was called to order by the President, Mayor
A. L. Roumfort, who stated that he had invited the
presidents of the several fire companies lobe pres
ent and ca-operate with the Committee.
The several fire companies will hold meetings
this evening, and complete their arrangements:—
They willseleet a Marshal and report to CoL Henry
M'Cormick, the Chief Marshal.
It is contemplated to have two bands of music,
one of which has already been secured.

and Heade of Departments, the Judiciary and
Municipal officers and the Soldiers of 1512.
The carriages for the Governor, Heads of De
partments and Judges of the Supreme Court will
be in waiting at the Capitol; those for the Judi
ciary, County and Municipal officers will be in
waiting at the Court House; those for the Clergy
at the rooms of the Young Men's Christian Asso

The oosotnittro arranged the following order of
proeestion !
Band,
The Military,
Soldiers of the War of 1812,
. The Clergy,
The Judiciary—including the Members of the Bar,
The County and Municipal Authorities,
The Committee of Arrangements,
The 127th Regiment P. V ,
Civic Societies,
The Militia of 1862,
The Fire Department.
ROUTE OF PROCESSION.
The route of procession will be as follows, viz
Form upon Market street, thence up Third to
State, down State to Second, down Second to Vine,
out Vine to Front, up Front to Chestnut, out
Chestnut to Third, up Third to Market, tilt Mar
ket to Front, up Front to State. Citizens along the
route are expected to celebrate the occasion by a
display of flags, &c. The • different bells in the
city will ring for five minutes upon the departure
of the regiment from York. The several companies
and bodies to participate will make their arrange
ments accordingly without further notice. By
order of HARRY WCORNICK,
It is the intention to furnish a oollatir.n, the
place for which will be determined by a committee
appointed for that purpose.
As it is believed the 727th Regiment will re
main in this city some time before they will be
mustered out of service. A resolution was unani
mously adopted offering a banquet to the regiment
when it is mustered out. H. Murray Graydon,
Egg, was appointed treasurer.
The several ward collecting committees will
wait on our citizens to-day, and it is hoped that
a liberal response will be made. Adjourned.
SKEDADDLE OF SHOULDER Sraars.—Since the
arrival of the returning soldiers the provost guards
and patrols have been oonsiderably increased and
become more vigilant in their operations. While
on a tour of observation on Sunday night some of
the guards entered "private" houses in search of
privates, and were somewhat astonished at finding
several shoulder strapped gentlemen, in company
with a number of privates quietly enjoying their
wine, etc. As Artecaas Ward would say, an imme
diate "advance to the rear"s was made. The
guard attempted to outflank the shoulder straps,
and finally succeeded in doing so after scaling a
number of garden fences, and captured the whole
pasty. After a consultation between the captured
and their captors an amicable arrangement was
effected between the parties, and the shoulder
straps were paroled. The gueri seem determined
to make no distinction between officers and pri
vates in such cases hereafter, and we trust that
some will lao compelled to be under the disagree
able necessity of "changing their base" from such
base places as those they were found in on Sunday
night.
A New POSTAGE STAMP.—The rate of postage
fixed by the new law for local or drop letters has
rendered it necessary to provide a new stamp of
the proper denomination, namely, two cents. Af
ter the first of July the law goes into effect, and
all drop or local letters carried by the city carrier
will be delivered free of charge beyond the legal
pre-paid rates, namely, twa cents the half ounce
or fraction thereof, on "drop" letters, and three
cents per half ounce or fraction, on those passing
through the mails. The portrait of Gen. Jackson
has been adopted AB a design for the new postage
stamp above mentioned. Stamped envelopes of
the same rate, for circulars, are to be provided.
IIiraIfSDI - 11Gy May 11th, MO.—Personally ap

on his solemn oath deposeth and saith, that on this
day, whilst sleeping in the house of James Irelel

The RECEPTION.—It is expected that in addition
to the general turn out of our citizens, to welcome
home our brave volunteers, the denizens of the
rural districts will also be largely represented. In
order that nothing may be wanting to give eclat to
the occasion and render all comfortable, whether
rain or sunshine predominate, oar ever vigilant
fellow•citizen M. IL Lee, 69 Market street, below
Third, has just furnished himself with a large
and elegantly assorted stock of sun-shades and
umbrellas, to which be invites the public attention.
Those who are in need of artificial support can
supply themselves with canes of the most beauti
ful styles at the same establishment. Go in. t
VIOLATION OF ORDINANCIL—We are requested by
the residents of lifulbery street to call the atten
tion of the authorities to the daily violation of the
city ordinance in regard to trains of cars running
through that street at a greater rate of speed than
four miles an hour. The violations are principally
confined to the Northern Central railway trains.
Yesterday one of the trains, without a locomotive
attached, came down the street at a speed of at
least twenty miles an hour. It only reclaim an
example or two to be made of the train hands to
abate the nuisance, Will the proper authority
attend to it?
ARRIVAL OP ANOTHSR Limas
ter county regiment, 722 d, Colonel Franklin, ar
rived at Camp Curtin about five o'clock last
evening. A delegation of citizens from Lancaster
county met them upon their arrival here and wel
comed them back to their native State. Extensive
preparations are being made in Laneaster to give
them a proper reception. The 1221 has seen and
done some hard service, having been in the battles
of South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg and
Chaneellorsville, in all of which engagements they
behaved with the greatest gallantry.
Damannous Pnactiont—The practice of jump
ing on the care as they pass through the streets of
this city is a very dangerous and reprehensible
one. yesterday noon, while the train from the
north was coming down Mulberry street, a man
attempted to jump on, when he missed his footing
and was dragged feveral hundred feet. He suc
ceeded, with the aid of one of the brakesmen, in
getting "on the train, not however until all the
clothes were almost torn from his person.
