T . LYON'S PURE OHIO CATAWBA
BRANDY.
THE OHIO CATAWBA BRANDY has, for several
years, been manufactured from the pure juice of the
AMERICAN CATAWBA and ISABELLA GRAPE. and
has attained a rare popularity throughout the West and
South, where great quantities of this superb article is
sold for MEDICINAL and FAMILY purposes. It not
only equals, but excels the most choice IMPORTED
BRANDIES in PURITY, QUALITY and RICHNESS OF
FLAVOR, and wherever it has been introduced it had
invariably met the most unqualified favor and extended
sale.
The want of really pure Brandy has long been felt in
this country, and the opportunity to procure an article
of such quality as to supercede the sale and use of the
many male compounds so often sold under the name of
Brandy," can be regarded only as a public good.
L. LYON'S OATAWBA BRANDY poulesses all the
choice qualities of the best imported liquor, and is posi
tively known to be of PBRFROT PURITY and of SU
PERIOR FLAVOR.
In support of the above statement, we refer to the
certificate of the undermentioned well•known chemists :
Dr. A. A. Hayes Assayer, Boston, Mass.
Dr. James B. Chilton & Co., Chemists, New York.

it as a perfectly pure article and as an invaluable medi

I—Excessive labor to the 4.—lncapacity to sew every
operator. description of material.
2.—Liability to get out of s.—Dieagreeable noise
order. • while in operation,
3 —Expense, trouble and
loss of time in repairing
The Empire Sewing Machine is Exempt from
all these Objections.
It has a straicht-needle perpendicular action, makes
the LOCK or SHUTTLE STITCH, which will neither
RIP nor RAVEL, and is alike on both sides ; performs
perfect sewing on every description of material, from
Leather to the finest Naneook - Muslin, with cotton, linen
or silk thread, from the coarsest to the finest number.
Having neither CAM nor COG WHEEL., and the least
possible friction, it runs as smooth as glass, and is
EMPHATICALLY A NOISELESS MACHINE
It requires FIFTY PER CENT, less power to drive it
ban any other Machine in market. A girl of twelve
years of age can work it steadily, without fatigue or in

MOORLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS
PREPARND ONLY BY DR. C. M. JACKSON ,
N 0.631 ARCH STREET, PHILADELPHIA,
Is the very best Tonic and Nervine extant, and will gi vl
relief where all other remedies fail. This is no a la.ro
assertion, but has been proved overand over &gaiety th 4
class of persons we are now addressing, as the certificates
hereto appended will show. So well are the virtual] c,f
the Bitters known, that it is freely prescribed by the
leading physicians of Philadelphia vicinity, It I ,
entirely 'vegetable, and freefrom aironotic stir/tufa/nand
all injurious ingredients . Persons advanced in life 'and
feeling the hand of time weighing heavily upon then,
will find in these Bitters an elixir that will restore, in
measure, the energy and ardor of more youthful dayll
build up their shrunken forme, and give health and hap.
pineal to their remaining years.
Weak and delicate children are made strong by Inlet
the Bitters. In fact, it is a family medicine, and nti
be profitably administered to a child of three month,
the most delicate female, or a man of ninety.
Shake the bottle before using.
Price 75 cants per bottle. For sale by druggists ani
storekeepers generally throughout the country.,
From Rev. J Newton Brown, D. D., Editor of Encyclo
pedia of Religions Knowledge.
To Dr. O. M. Jackson.—Although not disposed to
favor or reeommend Patent Medicines in general,
through distrust of their ingredients and effects, I yet
know of no sufficient reason why a man may not testify
to the benefit he believes himself to have received from
any simple preparation, in the hope that he may thus
contribute to the benefit of others.
I do this more readily in regard to Illloolleuffis German
Bitters," prepared by Dr. C. M. Jackson, of this city,
because I was prejudiced against them for years = under
the impression that they were chiefly an alcoholic mix.
tare. lam indebted to my friend, Robert Shoemaker
Esq., for the removal of this prejudice by proper tesi.'
and for encouragement to try them when suffering fr om
great and long continued debility. The use of three
bottles of these Bitters, at the beginning of the present
year, was followed by evident relief and restoration to a
degree of bodily and mental vigor which I had not fait
for six months before, and had almost despaired of re
gaining. I therefore thank God and my friend for di..
renting me to the use of them.
