BRANDY.
AR OHIO CATAWBA BRANDY has, for several
years, been manufactured from tn. pure Juice of the
AMERICAN CATANSA and ISABELLA Gt AP.P. and
has attained a rare popularity throughout the West and
South, where great qtantaties of this superb a licle is
sold for MEDICINAL and FAMILY purposes. It not
only equals. but excels the most choice IMPORTED
BRANDIES in PURITY, QUALITY and MOHNEN OF
PLATO K, and wherever it has been introduced it had
invariably met the most nriqualified favor and extended
sale.
The want of really pure Brandy has long been felt in
this country, and the opportunity to procure an article
of such quality as to supersede the sale and use of the
many rife compounds so often sold under the name of
Brandy,” can be regarded only as a public good.
L. LYON'S CATAWBA. BRANDY po 'ensues all the
choice qualities of the best imported liquor, and is posi

HOOFLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS
PREPARED ONLY BY DR. C. M. AORSON,
NO. 681 ARCH STREET., PHILADELPHIA,
Is the very best .Tonic and Nervine extant, and will gi ve
relief where all other remedies fail. This is not a m. re
assertion, but has been provedoverand over againby f he
d oe s of parsons we are now addressing, AO the cOilitiCAt PA
hereto appended will show. So well are the virtues a
. the Bitters known, that it is freely prescribed by the,
leading physicians of Philadelphia a* "I vicinity. It i t
entirely vegetable. and freefrom alconolit stimufanram
all injurious ingredients. Persons advanced in life, sad
feeling the hand of time weighing heavily upon then,
will find in these Bitters an e r that will res tore in
measure, the energy and ardor of more youthful days,
build up their shrunken forms, and give health and hap.
pineal to their remaining years.
Weak and delicate children are made strong by using
the Bittern. In fact, it is s family medicine; and May
bo profitably administered to a child of three Months,
the moat delicate female, or a man of ninety.
Bbake the bottle before using.
Price 75 cents per bottle. For sale by droggiste and
storekeepers generally throughout the country.
'from ROY. J . Newton Brown, D. D., Editor of Encyclo
pedia of Religious Knowledge.
To Dr. O. M. Jackson.—Although not disposed to
favor or reeommend Patent Medicines in general,
through distrust of their ingredients and offsets, I yes
know of no sufficient reason why a man may not testify
to the benefit he believes himself to havereceived from
any simple preparation, in the hope that he may time
eentri bute to the benefit of others.
I do this morereadlly in regard to "Roadsters German
Bitters," prepared by Dr. 0. M. Jackson,, ofthis city,
because I was prejudiced against them for years, andel'
the impression that they were chiefly an alcoholics mix
ture. lam indebted to say friend, Robert ahoe uui ke g'
8., for the removal of this prejudlee by proper K testa,
and for encouragement to try them when suffering from
great and long continued debility. The nee of three
bottles of these Bitters, at the beginning of the present
year, was followed by evident relief and restoration to a
degree of bodily and mental vigor which I had net felt
for six months before, and had almost despaired Of re
gaining. I therefore thank (led and my friend for di•
resting me to the use of them.

Da. Jacrasow—Dear Sir: I have been frequently re •
quested to connect u name with commendations of
different kinds of medicines, ha regaidingthe practice
as eut of my appropriate sphere, I have in all cases
declined ; but with a clear proof in various instances,
and particularly in my own family, of the usefulness of
Dr. Heofiand's German Bitters, I depart for once from
my usual course, to ()sprees my fall conviction that for
general debility of the system, and especially for Liver
Complaint, it is a safe and raluabe preraration. IL
some cases it may fail, but usually I doubt not it will be
very beneficial to those who suffer from the above
causes. Yours very respectfully,
