Prom Bev. J Newton Brown, D. D., Editor of Encyclo
pedia of Religious Knowledge,
To Dr. O. M. Jackson.—Although not disposed to
favor or recommend Patent Medicines in general,
through distrust of their ingredients and effects, I yea
know of no snitieiont ression why a. man mar net testa,
to the benefit he believes himself to have received frein
any simple preparation, in the bops that he may t 3 / 4 011
contribute to the benefit of others.
I do this more readily in regard to "Hooliandft German
Bitters," prepared by Dr. O. M. Jackson, of this city,
because I was prejudiced ag a i ns t them for years under
the impression that they were chiefly an alcoholic mix
ture. lam indebted to ray friend, Robert
Shoemaker,
for the removal of this prejudice by proper testa,
and for encouragement to try them when suffering from
great and long continued debility. The use of three
bottles of these Bitters, at the beginning of the
year, was followed by evident relief and restoration toe
degree of bodily and mental vigor which I bad net felt
for six months before, and bad almost despaired of ea
gaining. I therefore thank God and my friend for di.
recting me to the use of them.
