PROF. WOOD'S HAIR RESTORATIVE.
BRAD WHAT A DISTINGUISHED PHYSICIAN
OF OT. LOUIS SAYS OF IT.
0. J. WooD, Esq.: Dear Sir—Allow me the pleasure
and satisfaction to transmit to you the beneficial effects
of your Hair Restorative after a trial of five years I
commenced using your Restorative in January, 1855,
since which time I have not been without a bottle on
hand. When I commenced the use, my hair was quite
thin, and at least one-third gray. A few application's
stopped its felling, and in three weeks time there was
not a gray hair to be found, wither has there been up to
this time.
After my hair was completely restored, I continued its
use by applying two or three times per month. My hair
has ever continued healthy, soft and glossy, and my scalp
perfectly, free from dandruff. I do not imagine the facts
above mentioned will be of any particular advantage to
you, Or even flatter your vanity at this late day, as I am
well aware they are all well known already, and even
more wonderful ones throughout the Union. I have oc
cupied my time in traveling the greater part of the time
the past three years, and have takrn pride and pleasure
in recommending 3Mlar Restorative and exhibiting its
effects in my own case, In several instances I have met
with people that have pronounced it a humbug ; saying
they had used it, and without effect. In every instance,
however, it proved by probing the matter, that they had
not used the article at all, but had used some new arti
cle, said to be as good as yours, and selling at about half
the price. I have noticed two or three articles myself
advertised as above, which I have no doubt are humougs.
It is astonishing that people will patronize an article of
no reputation, when there is one at hand that has been
proved beyond a doubt.
Apparently,e nough some of those charlatans have not brains
write an advertisement, as I notice they have
to
copied yours, word for word in several instances, merely
inserting some other name in place of yours.
I have, within the past five years, seen and talked with
more than two thousand persons that have used your
preparation with perfect success—some for baldness,
gray hair, scald head, dandruff, and every disease the
scalp and head are subject to.
I called to see you, personally, at your original place
of business here, but learned you were now living in New
York.
You are at liberty to publish this or to refer parties to
me. Any communication addressed to me, care box
1920, will be promptly answered_ Yours, truly,
JAAES WHITE, M. D.
Warren Springs, Perry Co., Pa., June 7th, 1850.
Villitos. WOOD: Dear Sir—l was induced more than a
year ago to try your valuable Hair Restorative, for the
purpose of cleansing my head of dandruff I bad suf
fered with it upon my head foryears. and had never been
able to get anything to do me any good in removing it,
although I had tried many preparations, until I saw
your advertisement in a Harrisburg paper. Being there
at the time, I called at Gross & Ross's Drug Store
and bought a bottle, and now am prepared to recommend
it to universal use, for it has completely removed all dand
ruff from my head, and an application once in two weeks
keeps it free from any itching or other uupleasantness.—
I must also state that my hair jiad become quite white
'in places, and, by the use of your preparation, has been
restored to its original color. lam now 50 years of age,
and although I have used .wo bottles of the Restora
tive, no one has any knowledge of it, as I allow a few
gray hairs to remain in order to have my appearance
comport with my age. My head is now of less trouble
to me, in keeping it clean, &c., than at any time since
1 have been a child. I consider your preparationofgreat
value, and aithou s h Ido not like to expose myself, I
consider it my duty to say so. You can use this, or any
part of it, in any shape you think proper, if it is worth
anything to you Yours, &c.,
R. H. ETTER.
Bloomington, Ind., July 30th, 1859.
Dear Sir :—I here send you a statement that I think
you are entitled to the benefit of. I am a. resident of
Bloomington and have been for over thirtyyears. lam
now over 50 years of age. For abo it twenty years past
my hair has been turning considerably gray, and was
almost entirely white, and very stiff and unpliant. -I
had seen a number of certificates of the very wonderful
effect of your Hair Restorative, but supposed there was
more fiction than truth in them ; but entertaining a
strong desire to have my hair, if possible, restored to ,ts
original color and fineness, as it was in my younger day
a beautiful black, I concluded I would make the esperi,
meat, commencing in a small way. 1 parehased one of
your small bottles, at one dollar, and comm need using,
following directions as nearly as I could. I soon discov
ered the dandruff removed, and my hair, that was fall
ing off in laze quantities, was cunsid relay tightened,
and a radical change taking place in the color. I have
continued to use it till I have used three of your sma'l
bottles, and just begun on the fourth. I have now as
pretty a head of dark bruwn, or light black hair, as any
man, or as I had in me youthful days when a boy in toe
hills of Western Virginia. My bead is entirely clear of
dandruff, and the hair ceased entirely fall ng off, and is.
a-, soft and fine, and feels as oily, as though it was just
from under the hands of a French shampooer. ti..ny
of my acquaintances Irequen Ely say to me, t. Butler, where
did you get that line wig?" 1 tell them it was the ef
fects of your Restorative. It is almost impossible to
convince them that it is the original hair of the same
old gray head. Yours, truly,
FREDERICK T. BUTLER,
Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana.
PROF. WOOD'S HAIR HESTORATIVIL—In another col
umn will befound an advertisement of this well-known
apd excellent preparation for restoring gray hair to its
original color. The Hair Restorative also cures cuta
neous eruptia•s, and prevents the hair falling off. We
have seen many authentic testimonials in proof of these
assertions, some of which are from gen•lemen whom we
have known fur many ' , ears .s prrsong of the most re•

WOOD'S HAIR RUSTOTIATTVIE. —We are not in the habit

recommending Professor Wood•sarticle to all whose hair
is falling olf, or turning gray. Our well-known contri
butor, Pinky Johnson, Esq., has experitme. d the bene
fits of its application, and joins with us in speaking of its
vi tues. Let atl try it, and bald heads will be as rare as
snow in Summer.—Baltimors Patriot.
WOOD'S HAIR HESTORATIVE.-17nlik0 most specifics,
this is prove , by unimpeachable ev dence, to - possess
great erniw I as a restorer of the hair to its pristine
vigor. Where the had had become almost bald because
of sickness, the use of t his arti le has produced a beau
tiful growth of thick, glossy hair. IL is therefore a val
uable prepaiation for all classes. Its logo dients are
such as to effectually eradicate dandruff and other im
purities, which operate so injuriously to the hair. It
also has curative properties a another descripti n In
many cases pimples and other distigurements.of the skin
disapp-ar wherorer it is used. There is no hazard at
taching to the trial of this remedy, and its effects can
only be beneficial, as the compound if it dues not cause
a manifest improvement, is incapable of doing harm, as
its component elements are perfectly ianoxious.—Bos
ton Transcript, April 22, '59.
A GENUINE Boos.—ln our capacity as conductor of a
public journal we are called upon to advertise the cure
ally of the day, each of which claims to be unadultera

fects—with whatjustice we leate our readers to deter

Restora•ive—we are so well assured of the notable
qualities of the article that we give it our endorsement

RELIEF AND HEALTH TO YOUR INFANTS
We have put up and sold this article for over ten years,
and CAN SAY, IN CONFIDENCE AND TRUTH of it,
what we have never been able to say of any other medi
Cine—NEVER HAS IT FAILED, IN A SINGLE IN
STANCE, TO EFFECT A CURE, when timely used
Never did we know an instance of dissatisfaction by any
one who used it. On the contrary, all are delighted with
its operations, and speak in terms of commendation of
its magical effects and medical virtue... We speak in
this matter "WHAT ME DO KNOW," after ten years'
experience, AND PLEDGE OUR REPUTATION FOB
THE FULFILLMENT OF WHAT WE HERE DE
CLARE. In almost every instance where the infant is
suffering from pain and exhaustion, relief will be found
in fifteen or twenty minutes after the syrup is adminis
tered.
This valuable preparation is the prescription of one o
the most EXPERIENCED and SKILLFUL NURSES in
New England, and has been used with NEVER. SAIL
ING SUCCESS in
THOUSANDS OF CASES.
It not only raieves the child from pain, but invigo
rates the stomach and bowels, corrects acidity, and
gives tone and energy to the whole system. It will al
most instantly relieve
GRIPING IN THE BOWELS, AND WIND ibOLICI,
and overcome convulsions, which, if not speedily reme
died, end in death. We believe it the BEST and SUREST
REMEDY IN THE WORLD, in all cases of DYSEN
TERY and DIARRHOIA IN CHILDREN, whether it
arises from teething, or from any other cause. We would
say to every mother vho has a child suffering from any
of the foregoing complaints—DO NOT LET YOUR PRE
JUDICES, NOR THE PREJUDICES OF OTHERS, stand
between you and your suffering child, and the relief that
will be SURE—yes, ABSOLUTELY SURE—to follow the
use of this medicine, if timely used. Full directions for
using will accompany each bottle. None genuine unless

of his celebrated SCHIEDAM &HAM, Mr. WOLFS, 111
his letter to me, speaking of the purity of his Wlzeil
and LIQUORS, says: "I will stake my reputation as a
man, my standing as a merchant of thirty yea rs 'rest.

GEORGE H. ASIITON,
No. 832 Market street, Philadelphia,
Sole Agent for Philadelphia.
Read the following from the New York Courier:
ENORMOUS BUSINESS FOR ONE NEW YORK MERCHANT.—
We are happy to inform our fellow-citizens that there is
one place in our city where the physician, apothecary,
and country merchant, can go and purchase pure Wines
and Liquors. as pure as imported, and of the best quality.
We do not intend to give an elaborate description of this
merchant's extensive business, although it will well re
pay any stranger or citizen to visit trooLeno WOLFE'S
extensive warehouse, Nos. 18, 20 and 22, Beaver street,
and Nos 17, 19 and 21, Marketfield street. His stock of
Schnapps on hand ready for shipment could not have
been less than thirty thousand cases; the Brandy, some
ten thousand cases—Vintages of 1836 to 1856 ; and ten
thousand cases of Madeira, Sherry and Port Wines,
Scotch and Irish Whisky, Jamaica and St. Croix Rum,
some very old and equal to any in thiB Cotintry. He also
had three large cellars, filled with gaudy, Wines, &c. ;
in casks, under Custom-Rouse key, ready for bottling.
Mr. Woram's sales of Schnappi last year amounted to
one hundred and eighty thousand dozen, and we hope in
less than two years he may be equally succesaf with
his Brandies and Wines.
His business merits the patronage of every lover of
his species. Private families who wish pure Wines and,
Liquors for medical use should send their orders direct
to Mr WOLF; until every Apothecary in the land make
up their minds to discard the poisonous stuff from their
shelves, and replace it with WoLvs , s pure Wunis and
Llquoßs.
We understand Mr. Wor.rs, for the accommodation of
small dealers in the country, puts up assorted cases of
Wines and Liquors. Such a man, and such a merchant,
should be sustained against his tens of thousands of op
ponents in the United States, who sell nothing but imi
Cations, ruinous alike to human health and happiness.
