PROF, WOOD'S HAIR RESTORATIVE
READ WHAT A DISTINGUISHED PHYSICIAN
OF ST. LOUIS SAYS OF IT.
St. Louis, July 10th, 1860.
0. J. WOOD, ESq.; Dear Sir—Allow me the pleasure
and satisfaction to transmit to you the beneficial effects
or your Hair Restorative after a trial of five years. I
commenced using your Restorative in January. 1855,
since which time I have not been without a bottle on
hand. When I commen ed the use, my hair was quite
thin, and at least one-third gray. A few applications
stopped its rating, and in three weeks time there was
not a gray hair to be found, ither has there been up to
this time.
After my hair wail emnpletelyrestored, I continued its
use by applying two or three times per month. My hair
has ever contin ed healthy, soft and glossy, and my scalp
perfectly free from dandruff. I do not imagine the facts'
above mentioned will be of any particular a tvantage to
you, or even flatter your vanity at this late day, as I am
well aware they are all well known already, and even
more wonderful ones through •ut the Union. I have oc
cupied my time in tra• cling the greater part of the time
the past three years, and have tak n pride and p.essure
in recommending your Restorative and exhibiting its
effects in my own case. In sever al instances I have met
with people that have pronounced it a humbug . ; saying
they had used it, and without effect. In every instance,
however, it proved by probing the matter, that they had
not used the article at all, but had used some new arti
cle. said to be as good as yours, and sellingat about half
the price. I have noticed two or three articles myself
advertised as above, which I have no doubt are humbugs.
It is astonishing that people will patronize an article of
no reputation, when there is one at hand that has been
proved beyond a doubt.
Apparently. some of those charlatans have not brains
enough to write an advertisement, as I notic- they have
copied yours, word for word in several instances, merely
inserting a me other name in place of yours.
I have, within the past five years, seen and talked with
more than two th usaud persons that have used your
preparation with perfect success—some for baldness,
gray hart.. scald head, dandruff, and every disease the
scalp and head are subject to.
I celled to see you, personally, at your original place
of business here, but learned you were now living in New
York.
ou are at liberty to publish this or to refer parties to
me. Any rommuuication a.ldressed to me, care box
1920, will be promptly answered. Yours, truly,
JAMES WHITE, H. D.
Warren Springs, Perry Co., Pi., Jane 7lth, 1850,
— PROF. WOOD: Dear 6ir—l was induced more than a
year ago to try your valuable Hair Reatoralive, for the
purpose of cleansing my head of dand uff I had sub
fared wi h it upon toy head for years. and had never been
able to get anything to do me any good in removing it,
although I had tried many preparations, until I saw
your advertisement in a Harrisburg paper. Being there
at the time, I called at Gross & Boss's Drug Store
and bought a bottle, and now am prepared to recommend
it to universal use, for it has completely removed all dand
ruff from my head, and an application once in two weeks
keeps it free from any itching or other mipleasantness.—
I must also state that my hair had become quite white
in places, and, by the use of your preparation, has been
restored to its oliginal color. lam now 50 years of age,
and although 1 have used wo bottles of the Restora
tive, no one h.s any knowledge of it, as I allow a lew
t ray hairs to remain in order to have my appearance
comport with my ago. My head Is now of less trouble
to me, in keeping it clean, &0., than at any time since
I have been achild. I consider your preparationofgreat
value, and althoue hI do not like expose myself, I
consider it my duty to say so. You can use this, or any
part of it, in any shape you think proper, if it is worth
anything to you Yours, &c.,
H. H. ETTER.
Bloomington, Ind., July 30th, 1859.
Dear Sir :—I het e send you a statement that I think
ru are entitled to the benefit of. I am a resident of
Bloomington and have been for over thirtyyeara. lam
now over 50 years of ag•t. For abo twenty years past
my hair has been turning considerably gray, and was
almost t ntirely white, and very stiff and uupliant. I
had seen a number of certificates of the very wonderful
effect of your Hair Restorative, but supposed there was
more fiction than truth in them ; but entertaining a
strong desire to have my hair, if possible, restored to its
original color and fineness, as it was in my younger dat s
a beautiful black, I concluded I would make the experi
ment, commencing in a small way. I lo.rehased one of
your small bottles, at one dollar, and comet need using,
following directions as nearly as I could. I soon discov
ered the dandruff removed, and my hair, that was fall
ing off in lar4e quantities, was consid rally tightened.
and a radical change taking place in the color. I have
continued to use it till I have used three of your sma I
bottles, and just begun on the fourth. I have now as
pretty a hes.l of dark bri.wn, or light Mack hair, as any
Oman, or as I had in my youthful days when a boy in tr.°
hills of Western Virginia. Ely bowl is entirely clear of
and the hair ceased entirely fall ng off, and is
a- soft aud fine, and feels as oily, as though it was just
from under the hands of a French shampooer. 51 my
of my acquaintances fequenily say to me, tt Butler, where
did you g. t that line wig ?" 1 tell them it was the ef
fects of your Restorative. It is almost itop..ssible to
convince them that it is the original hair of the same
old gray head. Tours, truly,
FREDERICK T. BUTLER,
Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana.
PROF. WOOD'S HAIR RESTORATIVE.—iII another col
umn will be found an advertisement of this well-known
and excellent preparation for restoring gray hair to its
original color. The Hair Restorative also cures cuta
neous eruptions, and prevents the hair falling off. We
have seen many authentic testimonials in proof of these
assertions, some of w hich are from gen lemma whom we
have known for nanny oexwe persons of the most re
liable character. Don't dye till you have tried this Re
etorative.—Boston Olive Branch.

what we have never been able to say of any other medi

Never did we know an instance of dissatisfaction by. any
one who need it. On the contrary, all aro delighted with
its operations, and speak in terms of commendation of
its magical effects and medical virtues. We speak in
this matter " WHAT WE DO KNOW," after ten y.-ars ,
experience, AND PLEDGE OUR REPUTATION FOR
THE FULFILLMENT OF WHAT WE HERE DE
CLARE. In almost every instance where the infant is
suffering from pain and exhaustion, relief will be found
in fifteen or twenty minutes after the syrup is adminis

This valuable preparation is the prescription of one o
the most EXPERIENCED and SKILLFUL NURSES in
New England, and has been used with NEVEM. SAIL

rates the stomach and bowels, corrects acidity, and
gives tone and energy to the whole system. It will al
most instantly relieve

and overcome convulsions, which, if not speedily reme
died, end in death . We believe it the BEST and SUREST
REMEDY IN THE WORLD, In all cases of DYSEN

Read the following from the New York Courier:
ENORMOUS BUSINESS FOR ONE NSW YORK MERCHAM—
We are happy to inform our fellow-citizens that there is
one place in our city where the physician, apothecary,
and country merchant, can go and purchase pure Wines
and Liquors. as pure as imported, and of the best quality.
We do not intend to give an elaborate description of this
merchant's extensive business, although it will well re
pay any stranger or citizen to visit UDOLFHO WOLFE'S
extensive warehouse, Nos. 18, 20 and 22, Beaver street,
and Nos 17, 19 and 21, Marketfield street. His stock of
Schnapps on hand ready for shipment could not have
been less than thirty thousand eases • the Brandy, some
ten thousand cases—Vintages of 1836 to 1866; and ten
thousand cases of Madeira, Sherry and Port Wines,
Scotch and Irish Whisky, Jamaica and St. Croix Rum,
some very old and equal to any in this country. He also
had three large cellars, filled with Brandy, Wines, &,e. ;
in casks, under Custom-House key, ready for bottling.
Mr. Wrixrals sales of Schnapps last year amounted to
one hundred and eighty thousand dozen, and we hope in
less titan two years ne may be equally succeed with
his Brandies and Wines.•
His business merits the patronage of every lover of
his species. Private families who wish pure Wines and
Liquors for medical use should send their orders direct
to Mr WOLF; until every Apothecary in the land make
up their minds to discard the poisonous stuff from their
shelves, and replace it with WoLents pare WINES and
LIQUORS.
We understand Mr. WoLeo, for the accommodation of
small dealers in the country, puts up assorted cases of
Wines and Liquors. Such a man, and such a merchant,
should be sustained against his tens of thousands of op
ponents in the United States, who sell nothing hut imi
Cations, ruinous alike to human health and happiness.
