THE AMALGAMATION OF LANGMAGSS.—There is a growing tendency in this age to appropriate the most expressive words of other languages, and after a while to incorrorate them into our own ; thus the word Cephalic, which is from the Greek, signifying "for the head," is now becom ing popularised in e '3nneetion .with Mr. Spalding% great Headache remedy, but it will soon be used in a more gen eral way, and the word Cephalic will become as common as Electrotype and many others whose distinction as for eign words has been worn away by common usage until they seem "native a to the manor born." Head aches may be derailed under two names, vie; Symptoma tic and Idiopathic. Symptomatic Headache is exceedingly common and is the precursor of a great variety of diseases, among which are Apoplexy, Gout, Rheumatism and all febrile diseases. In its nervous form it is sympathetic of disease of the stomach constituting sick headache, of ho pa tie disease constituting bilious headache,;of worms, constipation and other disorders of the bavelsi as well as renal and uterine affections. Diseases of the hetrt are very frequently attended With Headaches; Anmmia mid plethora are also affections which frequently occasion headache.— Idiopathic Headache is also very common, beitg usually distinguished by the name of nervous headache, iometimes coming on suddenly in a State of apparently soind health and prostrating at ones the mental and physical energies, and in Other inataroes it comes on slowly, heralded by de pression of spirits or acerbity of temper. In most install • ces the pain is in the front of the head, over one or both eyes, and sometimes provoking vomiting ; underthis class may also be named Neuralgia. For the treatment of either class of Headache the Ce phalic Pills have been found a sure and safe remedy, relie ving the most acute pains in a few minutes, and by its subtle power eradicating the diseases of which Headache is the unerring index. BRIDGET,—Miuns wants you to send her a box of Cep, hallo Glue, no, a bottle of Prepared Pills—but I'm think ing that's not just it naither ; but perhaps t'e'll be either knowing what it is. Ye see she's nigh dead and gone with the Sick Headache, and wants some more of that same as .relaived her before. Druggist —You must mean Spalding's Cephalic Pills. Bridget.—Och ! sure now and you've sed it, here's the quartherand giv me the kills and dont be all day about it Constipation or Costiveness. No one of the "many ills flesh is heir toi , is prevalent, so little understood, and so much neglected as Costiveness. Often originating in carelessness or sedentary habits; it le regarded as a slight disorder of too little consequence to excite anxiety, while in reality it is the precursor and companion of many of the moat fatal and dangerous die eases, and unless early eradicated it will bring the sufferer to an untimely grave. Among the lighter evils of which costiveness is the usual attendant are Headache, Colic, Rheumatism, Foul Breath, Piles and others of I ke nature, while a long train of frightful diseases such as Malignant Fevers, Abeessee, Dysentery, Diarrhoea, Dyspepsia, Apo plexy, Epilepay, Paralysis, Hysteria, Hypoehondriasis, Melancholy and Insanity, Rut indicate their presence in the system by this alarming symptom. Not unireqnently the diseases named originate in Constipation, but take on an independent existence unless the cause is eradicated in an early stage. From all these considerations it fellows that the disorder should receive immediate attention when ever it occurs, and no person should neglect to get a box of Cephalic Pills on the first appearance of the complaint, as their timely use will expel the insidious approaches a disease and destroy this dangerous foe to human life. A Real Blessing. ' Physician—Well, Mrs. Jones, how is that headache? Mrs Tones— Gone Doctor, all gone th 3 pill you sent cured me in just twenty minutes, and I wish yo / would send more so that I can have them handy. Physician.—You can get them at any Druggists. Call for Cephalic Pills, I find they never fail, and I recommend them in all cases of Headache. Mrs. Tones —I ehall seal for a box directly, and Mud tell all my suffering friends, for they are a real blessing. TWEVFIr MILLIONS OF DOLLARS SAUD .—Mr. Spalding has sold two millions of bottles of his celebrated Prepared sable and it is estimated that each bottle saves at least ten dollars worth of broken furniture, thus maktng an aggre• gate of twenty millions of dollars reclaimed from torsi loos by this valuable invention. Hiving made his Glue a household word, he now proposes to do the world still greater service by curing all the aching heads with his CephaliVills, and if they are as good as his Glue, Head aches wM soon vanish away like snow in July. "137.- OVER EXOITEMENT, and the mental care and anxiety incident to the close attention to business or study, are among the numerous causes of Nervous Headache. The disordered state of mind ant body incident to thisdirtress lug complaint is a fatal blow to all energy and ambition Surerera by this disorder can always obutin speedy rel'ef horn these distressing attacks by using one of the OepbaliC Pills whenever the symptoms appear. It quiets the over tasked brain, and soothes the strained and jarring nerves, and relaxes the tension of the stomach which always ac companies and aggrAvates the disordered condition of the brain. FACT WORTH KNOWlNG.—Spalding's Cephalic Pills are a certain cure for Sick Headache, Bilious Headache, Nervous Headache, Costiveness and tie ceral Debility. GREAT Dmooveuv.—Among the moat important of all the great medial discoveries of tbii age may be considered the es stem of vaccination for protection from Small Pox, the Cephalic Pill for relief or Headache, and the use of Quinine for the prevention of Fevers, either of which is a sure specific, whose benefits will be experienced by suf fering humanity long after their discoverers are forgotten. 117 - Dto you ever have the Sick Headache? Do you remember the throbbing temples, the fevered brow, the loathing and disgust at the eight qi fobd ? How totally unfit you were for pleasure, conversation or study. T HE ONLY DISCOVERY WORTHY OF ANY CONFIDENCE FOR RESTORING THE BALD AND GRAY. Many, Since the great discovery of Prof, Wood, have attempted not only to imitate his restorative, but pro fees to have discovered something that would produce results identical; but they have all come and gone, be ing carried away by the wonderful results of Professor Wood's preparation, and have been forced to leave the field to its resistless sway. Read the following: BATH, Maine, April 18,1859. PROP'. 0. J. WOOD di Co.: Gents :—The letter I wrote you in 1856 concerning your valuable Hair Restorative, and which you have published in this vicinity and else where, has given rise to numerous enquiries touching the facts in the case. The enquiries are ' first, is it a fact of my habitation and name, as stated in the com munication ; second, is it true of all therein contained.; third, does my hair still continue to be in good order and of natural color? To all I can and do answer invariably yes. lily hair is even better than in any stage of my life for 40 years past, more soft, thrifty, and better colored; the same is true of my whiskers, and the only cause why it is not generally true, is that the substance ii washed off by frequent ablution of the face, when if care were used by wiping the face in close connection with the ' whiskers, the same result will follow as the hair. I have been in the receipt of a great number of letters from all parts of New England, asking me if my hair still continues to be good ; as there is so much fraud in the manufacture and sale of various compounds as well as this, it has, no doubt, been basely imitated, and been used, not only without any good effect, but to absolute injury. I have not used any of your Restorative of any account for some months, and yet my hair is as good as ever, and hundreds have examined it with surprise, as I am now 61 years old and not a gray hair in my head or on my face i and to prove this fact, 1 send you a leek of my hair taken off the past week. I received your favor of two quart bottles last summer, for which I am very grateful: I gave it to my friends and thereby induced them to try it; many were skeptical until after trial, and then purchased and used it with universal success. I will ask as a favor, that you send me a test by which I can discover fraud in the Restorative, sold by many, I fear, without authority from you. A pure article will insure success, and I believe where good effects do not follow, the failure is caused by the impure article, which curses the inventor of the good. I deem it my duty, as heretofore, to keep you apprised of the continued effect on my hair, as I assure all who enquire of me of my un shaken opinion of its valuable results. I remain, dear sirs, yours, A. C. RAYMOND. AARON'S Rom, Ky., Nov. 30, 1858. PROF. 0. J. WOOD: Dear Sir :—I would certainly be doing you a great injustice not to make known to the world, the wonderful as well as the unexpected result I have experienced from using *an bottle of your Hair Restorative. After using every kind of Restoratives extant, but without success, and finding my head nearly destitute of hair, I was finally induced to try a bottle of your Hair Restorative. Now, candor and justice compel me to announce to whoever may road this, that I now possess a new and beautiful growth of hair, which I pronounce richer and handsomer than the original was. I will therefore take occasion to recommend this in valuable remedy to ALL who may feel the necessity of it. Respectfully yours, REV. S. ALLEN BROCK. P. In Neurons AFFECTIONS of all kinds, and for reasons familiar to medical men, the operation of this preparation of iron must necessarily be salutary, for, unlike the old oxides, it is vigorously tonic, without being exciting and overheating; and gently, regularly aperient, even in the most obstinate cases of costiveness, without ever being a gastric purgative, or inflicting a disagreeable sensation. It is this latter property, among others, which makes it so remarkably effectual and permanents remedyfor Piles, upon which it also appears to exert a distinct and specific action. by dispersing the local tendency which forms them. In DYSPEPSIA, innumerable as are itscauses, a single box of these Chalybeate Pills has often sufficed for the most habitual cases, including the attendant Costiveness. In unchecked ritemuusa, even when advanced to VITEN 7NRY, confirmed, emaciating, and apparently malignant the effects have been equally decisive and astonishing. . In the local pains, loss of flesh and strength, debilitating cough, and remittent hectic, which generally indicate IN CIPIENT CONSUMPTION, this remedy has allayed the alarm of friends and physicians, in several very gratifying and interesting instances. In SonovuLous Timmicsmosis, this medicated iron has had far more than the good effect of the most cautiously balanced preparations of iodine, without any of their well known liabilities. The attention of females cannot be too confidently invited to this remedy and restorative, in the cases peculiarly of fecting them. In Ituateaarrsw, both chronic and inflammatory—in the latter, however, more decidedly—it has been invariably well reported, both as alleviating pain and reducing the awel lenge and stiffness of the joints and muscles. In iNTERMITTENT FRVERS it must necessarily be a great remedy and energetic restorative, and its progress in the new settlements of the West, will probably be one of high renown and usefulness. No remedy has ever been discovered in the whole history of medicine, which exerts such prompt, happy, and fully restorative effects. Good appetite, complete digestion, rapid acquisition of strength, with an unusual disposition for active and cheerful exercise, immediately follow its use. Mr. WOLFE, in his letter to me, speaking of the purity of his Wilms and LIQUORS, says : c I will stake my reputation as a man, my standing as a merchant of thirty years' resi dence in the City of New York, that all the BRANDY and WINES which I bottle are pure as imported, and of the best quality, and can be relied upon by every purchaser." Read the following from the New York Courier: ENORMOUS BUSINBSS FOFt ONE NEW YORK MERCHANT:— We are happy to inform our fellow-citizens that there is one place in our city where the physician, apothecary, and country merchant, can go and purchase pure Wines and Liquors, as pure as imported, and of the best quality. We do not intend to give an elaborate description of this merchantle extensive business, although it will well re pay any stranger or citizen to visit lIDOLPHO WOLFE'S extensive warehouse, Nos. 18, 20 and 22, Beaver street, and Nos. 17, 19 and 21, Marketfield street. His stock of Schnapps on hand ready for shipment could not have been less than thirty thousand cases; the Brandy, some ten thousand cases—Vintages of 1836 to 1856; and ten thousand cases of Madeira, Sherry and Port Wines, Scotch and Irish Whisky, Jamaica and St. Croix Rum, some very old and equal to any in this country. He also .had three large cellars, filled with Brandy, Wines, &o. in casks, under Custom-House key, ready for bottling: Mr. Women's sales of Schnapps last year amounted to one hundred and eighty thousand dozen, and we hope in less than two years he may be equally aliment' with his Brandies and Wines. His business merits the patronage of every lover of his species. Private families who wish pure Wines and Liquors for medical use should send their orders direct to Mr. WOLF; until every Apothecary in the land make up their minds to discard the poisonous stuff from their shelves, and replace it with Woura's pure Wiass and LIQUORS. We understand Mr. WOLFE, for the accommodation of small dealers in the country, puts up assorted cases of Wines and Liquors. Such a man, and such a merchant, should be sustained against his tens of thousands of op ponents in the United States, who sell nothing but imi talons, ruinous alike to human health and happiness. Globule, or red blood. In all diseases accompanied vt,: a DEBILITY, pale countenance and nervous derangement, analyses et the blood show a deficiency of the red globules. Preparations of IRON have been given for the purpose of supplying the redgle. bules, but we contend that IRON alone, SULPHUR Moss or PHOSPHOROUS alone, will not meet the deficieu in every case, but that a judicious combination of ali these elements is necessary to restore the blood to i t , normal standard. This point, never before /attained, has been reached in the BLOOD FOOD, and its discovery ranks as one of the most scientific and important of the ago. Its effects in CONSUMPTION are to soften the cough, brace the nerves, strengthen the system, allay the prostrating night sweats, increase t 1 physical and mental energy, enrich the bleed by rester's; the lacking red globules, increase the appetite, resteo the color, and clothe the skeleton frame with flesh.
