THE DEATH OF ;Lusts Irevis.--We published
a notice of the death of James Irvin, Co. E,
201st Penns Vols., in our paper of Saturday,
when it was reported that he had been killed
while attempting to arrest deserters. We
have since learned the particulars of the mel
ancholy affair, by which it appears that Mr.
I. came to his untimely end through the care
less handling of fire arms on the part of a com
rade. We are informed that two adjoining
rooms were occupied by James Irvin and John
Funk. In the partition between the rooms
there is a window, used for ventilation, at a
considerable height from the floor. Early on
Saturday morning Mr. Irtin seized an old pis
tol, which was not loaded, and, standing upon
his bed, extended his hand through the win
dow, and jestingly demanded Funk's money
or his life. Funk suddenly laid hold of a gun
(which be supposed to be his own)and snap
ped it at Irvin, when a loud report followed,
and Irvin fell headlong to the floor. A bullet
bad entered his head near the right temple,
and passed out back of his ear. He was at
once placed upon a bed, and medical aid sum
moned, but death ensued about an hour after
the accident occurred. Funk's gun was not
.loaded, but he unfortunately seized another
instead of his own, and through this mistake
he unintentionaly killed his fellow-soldier.
'The two men were on most intimate terms,
and were fast friends Mr. Funk's sorrow on
account of this occurrence cann ot be described.
The remains of Mr. Irvin arrivedhere early
on Sunday morning, in charge of a number of
his companions in arms.
The funeral will take place to-morrow, at
Farkesburg. The remains will leave here at
eight o'clock A. as.
Mr. I. leaves a wife and child, besides nu
merous other relatives and friends, to mourn
his loss.

He keeps all kinds of goods,
Hats, bonnets and Hoods,
And of every shape and size,
And trimmings you'll find,
Of the costliest kind;
So purchase of him and be wise
You have greenbacks, or gold,
And these goods must be sold,
Then why would you shiver and freeze?
Postage stamps are as good,
To buy clothing as food,
Alia Mayer's the man that can, please.
That dear little girl,
With the dark, glossy curl,
Go buy her a hat right away;
And that innocent wife,
The joy of your life,
Must have a new bonnet to-day
To Mayer's all flock,
To see the new stock,
That he has exposed in his store:
And the ladies all say,
Such a brilliant array,
Never feasted their eyes before.
He has nubias, hoods,
And thick woollen goods,
With handkerchiefs, gloves and veils;—

the test of over thirty years, and has always

Dr. RAND'S SPECIFIC is exhibited in the
form of pills, made up entirely of substances
that have a specific effect upon the generative
organs. Most persons associate the idea of
operations upon the bowels from taking any
kind of pills. The SPEOERIO of Dr. Rand is
not intended as an evacuating medicine. Its
medicinal virtues are expended entirely upon
the impaired regenerative organs. The pills
are not unpleasant to the taste, and many
persons masticate them with impunity before
swallowing them ; which plan we would al
ways recommend, as affording the speediest
way to get the effect of the remedy.
