THE Board of enrollment publishes an
portant notice in our columns, relative to the
correction of the enrollment lists. Parties
properly interested will at all times have an
opportunity to appear before the board and
have their names stricken from the list, if any
are improperly enrolled. This is a matter in
which every man subject to military duty is
interested, as every name stricken from the
list reduces the quota of the sub-district to
which the party may belong.
MESSRS. KILENE & OYSTER, who have for
some time been propsi6tors of Canterbury
Hall, have disposed of that establishment,
after a successful management of its affairs
for several months, during which time the
entertainments given were of a character that
rendered the Canterbury worthy of patronage.
The retiring firm leave the establishment in
good condition, attractive and comfortable,
and their successors may congratulate them
selves that their predecessors were Messrs.
Keene & Oyster. The new proprietors pro
mise to maintain the good reputation that the
Canterbury has enjoyed since the commence
ment of the season. The entertainments are
to be attractive, and such as can be witnessed
by the most fastidious.
HAMLET!—First Appearance of James B.
Roberts, the Tragedian. —Mr. Rouse, of the The
atre, having effected an engagement of six
nights with the celebrated American Trage
dian, Mr. James B. Roberts, Shakapeare's
sublime tragedy of HAMLET will be per
formed this evening, on which occasion Mr.
R. will make his first appearance in the cha
racter of the Prince of Denmark. The popular
ity of Mr. Roberts as a tragedian will warrant
the manager in anticipating a profitable week,
as the theatre will certainly be crowded to its
utmost capacity. No play will be repeated
during the engagement of Mr. Roberts, and
the pieces selected for the week are such as
will draw immense audiences. This evening
Mr. Meeker will appear as the Ghost, Mr. Cros
sen as Laertes, Mr. Rouse as Gravedigger..
The entire Combination Troupe is cast in the
piece.
SOLDIERS' FUNERALS.--At one o'clock yes
terday the funeral of Thomas D. Thompson.
Company G, 55th Pennsylvania Volunteers,
took place from the residence of his parents,
on East State street. The remains were interred
in the Harrisburg Cemetery, in presence of a
large concourse of citizens. A few very ap
propriate and patriotic remarks were delivered
at the grave, by Rev. James Colder.
At three o'clock the funeral of Patrick
Campbell, Company G, 55th Pennsylvania
Volunteers, took place, from the residence of
his brother, Bernard Campbell, on Short
street. A very large concourse of citizens
followed the remains to their resting place, in
the Catholic Cemetery.
The Veteran Drum Corps attended both
funerals, and a squad of soldiers performed
the usual honors at the graves. The mem
bers of the Friendship Fire Company, who
are not in the army, attended Mr. Thompson's
funeral.
As the processions passed through the
streets, hundreds of spectators could not rev
frain from dropping a tear to the memory of
the departed, who laid down their lives in de
fence of their country, which has been as
sailed by, the traitorous hordes of the slave
holding portion of our fair land. • The on
ward march to freedom leads us to hope that
the time is near when the traitors shall be
conquered, peace restored, bloodshed ended
and freedom triumphant.
ARRIVAL OF VETERANs.—The remnant of the
once strong 76th Penna. regiment arrived
here yesterday, .their term of service having
expired. Of the nine hundred men who com
posed the 76th three years ago, but one hun
dred and ninety returned. They are under
command of Maj. Wm. S. Diller, who went
out as a Lieutenant. Five of the other origi
nal officers returned, viz: Capt. S. B. Fergu
son, Lieuts. George H. Gwin, James J. M'Cor
mick, J. H. Ensign and Levi Smith. One
hundred and fifty members of the regiment
have re-enlisted, which number added to those
who returned yesterday, make the whole num
ber three hundred and forty w)<° have not
been killed or disabled.
The 76th regiment;uring a portion of its
term of service, wa l i s* the Department of
South Carolina, but during the past summer
was with the Tenth Corps, under Gen. Butler.
It has participated in fifteen pitched battles,
including both assaults upon Fort Wagner,
the battles in front of Drury's Bluff, in May
last, Cold Harbor in June, Petersburg in July,
and Chapman's Farm in September, besides
numerous minor engagements, skirmishes, &c.
The men composing the 76th have made a
glorious record, and their numerous "deeds
of daring" will be chronicled in history, to be
read by the descendants of these brave men in
after years.
The returned veterans will be mustered out
and paid off here, after which they will return
to their respective homes, to receive the warm
greetings of loved ones.

To BE MUSTERED OUT.-A Washington dis
patch says that Capt. Levi Weaver, Co. G,
55th Pennsylvania regiment, has received an
order to be mustered out of the service at his
own request, having served three years with
credit to himself and his country. Capt. Wea
ver entered the service as second lieutenant
of Co. G, (which was then commanded by
the lamented Capt. Waterbury,) and' his nu
merous friends will give him a hearty welcome
upon his arrival home.
The 55th is increasing in numbers lately
from the convalescents who have recently re
turned to the regiment, who give to its ranks
quite a creditable appearance. It has done
honorable service both in South Carolina and
Virginia, and will probably distinguish itself
in engagements yet to be enacted. The boys
complain that they are not allowed to erect
winter quarters and make themselves more
comfortable, which is a misfortune to them, but
is probably deemed a military necessity by the
authorities.
GRAND TESTIMONIAL CONCERT TO MISS LUCE
SIMONS, IN CONJUNCT/ON WEN THE EMINENT
PIANIST AND COMPOSER, L. M. GOTTSCHALK.--
On Monday evening, December sth, a grand
concert will be given in the Court House, in
this city, as a testimonial to kiss Simons and
Prof. Gottschalk. This will positively be the
great pianist's farewell appearance in the Uni
ted States, prior to his departure for Mexico,
where he has 'received an imperial invitation.
He has, since giving his last concert here,
been Knighted by the Queen of Spain. Miss
Simons is a young lady of eighteen years, and
last season appeared for the first time in New
York, where she created an immense enthusi
asm. She is a pupil of Signor Muzio. Miss
Simons and Mr. Gottschalk will also have the
able assistance of Signor Morelli, the celebra
ted Baritone, and Herr Doehler, the renowned
Violinist. The concert will be given under
the direction of the distinguished musical con
ductor, Signor Muzio. The mere announce
ment of the concert is all that is necessary . to
insure a crowded house. Fall particulars will,
however, be given in bills and advertisements.
BUSINESS ITEMS.

C.A. BaNztvaar-Dear Sir: I have used Brown's
Bronchial Troches, Wistar's Lozenges, and
other preparations for hoarseness and throat
troubles, and, in comparison with them all,
can cheerfully commend your own as a most
admirable specific for public speakers and
Singers, in cases of hoarseness, coughs and

To C. A. BalorvAnr--Dear Sir: In the habit
of speaking very frequently, and in places
where the vocal organs are very much taxed,
I have found the need of some gentle expec
torant, and that want has been supplied in
your excellent Troches.
I consijier them very far superior to any
Lozenges that I have ever used, in removing

from its too frequent use, and impairing the
effectiveness of the delivery of public addres
ses. Yours, &c.,
JNO. WALKER JACKSON,
Pastor of the Locust St. Methodist Church.
To C. A. Roarvaur—Dear Sir : Having used
your Troches, I am free to say they are the

Dr. Rand's Specific.
The oldest and most reliable medicine for
the cure of Spermatorhoea, Seminal Weakness,
Loss of Power Sr.a. This medicine has stood
the teat of over thirty years, and has always
proved a success.
Dr. RAND'S SPECIFIC is exhibited in the
form of pills, made up entirely of substances
that have a specific effect upon the generative
organs. Most persons associate the idea of
operations upon the bowels from taking any
kind of pills. The Srioxrso of Dr. Rand is
not intended as an evacuating medicine. Its
medicinal virtues are expended entirely upon
the impaired regenerative organs. The pills
are not unpleasant to the taste, and many
persons masticate them with impunity before
swallowing them ; which plan we would al
ways recommend, as affording the speediest
way to get the effect of the remedy.
