DYSPEPSIA, DYSPEPSIA, DYSPEPSIA I, ELIZABETH BRANSON, of Brandywine, Del., formerly of Old Chester, Del., do certify that, for one year and a halt I suffered every thing but death from that awful disease called Dyspepsia. My whole system was prostrated with weakness and nervous debility; I could not digest my food; if I ate even a cracker or the smallest amount of food, it would return just as I swallowed it; I became so costive in my bowels that I would not' have a passage in less than from four and often eight days; un der this immense suffering, my mind seemed entirely to give way. 1 had a dreadful horror and evil forebodings. I thought everybody hated me, and 1 hated everybody; I could not bear my husband nor my OHM children, every thing appeared to be horror-stricken to the; I had no ambition to do anything; • I lost all my love of family and home; I would ramble and wander from place to place, but could not be contented; I felt that I was doomed to hell, and that there was no heaven for me, and was often tempted to commit suicide, BO near was my whole nervous system de stroyed, and also my mind from that awful complaint, Dyspepsia, that my friends thotight best to have ma placed in Dr. liirkbride's hospital, West Philadelphia; I remained there nine weeks, and thought I was.a little better, but in a few days my dreadful Coin plaint was raging as bad as ever. Hearing of the wonderful cures performed by Dr. Wis hart's Great American Dyspepsia Pills and his treatment for Dyspepsia, my husband called on Dr., Wishart sad stated my case to him. He said he had no doubt he could cure me. So in three days after I called and placed myself under the Doctor's treatment, and in two weeks I began to digest my food, and felt that my disease was fast giving way, and I continued to recover for about throe months, and at the present time I enjoy perfect health of body and mind, and I most sincerely return my thanks to a merciful God and Dr. Wis hart, and to his great . American Dyspepsia Pills and Pine Tree Tar Cordial that saved me from an Insane Asylum and premature grave. AB persons suffering with Dyspepsia are at liberty to call on me or write, as I sal willing to do all the good I can for suffering hu manity. WL , HAII.T-1 nave been a constant sufferer with Dyspepsia for the ::Ist eighteen years, during which time cannot say 1 ever enjoyed a perfectly well day.. There were times when the symptoms wore more aggravated than at others, and then it seemed it would be a great re lief to die. I had at. all times an unpleasant feeling in my head, but latterly my sufferings so much increased that I became almost unlit for business of any kind; my mind was continually filled with gloomy thoughts and fore bodings, and if I attempted to change their curtent by reading, at once a sensation of icy coldness in connection with a dead weight, as it were, rested upon my brairr, also, a feeling of sickness would occur at the stomach, and great pain to my eyes, accompanied with which was the continual fear of losing my reason. I also experienced great lassitude, debility and nervousness, which made it difficult, to walk by day la sleep at night. 1: became averse to society, and disposed only to seclusion, and having tried the skill of a number of eminent paysichins of various schools, finally came to the cocci usion that, for this disease at ray ? present age (thymus) there was no cure In existence. But, through the mterference of Divine YroVid mace, to whom 1 devoutly offer my thanks, I at last found a sovereign remedy in your Dyspepsia Pills and Tar Cordial, which seem to have effectually removed al most the last trace of my long list of ailments and bad feelings, and in their place health, pleasure and content ment are my everyday companions. EVENING EDITION. ANOTHER - VICTIM TO THE USE OF CHLOROFORM —A Coroner's Jury Recommended the Passage of a Laze Against its Use—TheDentist Acqu tied of Blame. —We are called upon to record anoth er case of death resulting from the use of chlo roform in extracting teeth. But a few brief months have passed since a lady died in the Operating chair of one of our most popular dentists after the administration of an opiate intended to prevent pain whilst her teeth were being extracted. A Cabner's Jury acquitted the dentist of all blame, but, if we remember aright, condemned the practice of using chlo roform in such cases, as being attended with danger to the patient. Another fatal case occurred yesterday in the dental establishment of Dr. Spencer, No. $59 Penn street. The facts as related to us are as follows: Miss Malinda Caryt, a resident of kit tanning, aged about seventeen years, had been on a visit to some relatives in this city. Yes terday, in company with her aunt, Mrs. Col lins, who resides in Allegheny, she visited the office of Dr. Spencer for the purpose of having a number of teeth extracted. .The ladies were ushered into the operating room by Dr. Hor ner, who was officiating for Dr. Spencer, who is at present too unwell to attend personally to his professional duties. Miss Oaryt stated the nature of her call and desired Dr.-Horner to administer chloroform before he undertook to extract her teeth. Alter the usual ques tions as to her physical condition, the Doctor, believing her to be a fit subject, complied with her request, and administered chloric ether, which is a compound of ether and chloroform, and proceeded to extract her teeth. Auer he had succeeded in extracting some four or five teeth, Miss Curyt suddenly raised up in her seat and commenced to struggle in a violent manner. Discovering that something was wrong, Dr. Homer at once sent for Dr. Duncan, but before his arrival the young lady expired. Dr. Horner, immediately after pro per attention had been paid to the remains of the deceased, repaired to the Mayor's office and gave himself into custody to await the re sult of the Coroner's jury. As soon as Coroner Donaldson was apprised of the melancholy occurrence he summoned a jury, and alter hearing the evidence of Dr. Duncan, Mrs. Collins, aunt of deceased,, and a young lady residing at Dr. Spencer's, the jury returned a verdict that the deceased came to her death from the use of chloroform adminis tered at her own request, in the usual manner, by Dr. Horner, and tally exonerating him from all culpability in the matter. The jury, however, outside of their official verdict, strongly condemn the use of chloro form by the dental profession, and call upon the Legislature to pass a law mflidting heavy penalties upon all who persist in the practice. _ rhe body of the young lady was conveyed to 'the residence of Mr. Isaac Collins, No. 2U Weill street, Allegheny. It is but justice to state that Dr Spencer is one of our most experienced dental operators; that he was confined to his room at the time the above narrated occurrence took.place, and that in all his extensive practice nothing of a like nature has ever taken place. We are also informed that two or three of Miss Caryt'a family have, within the past year or .two, died suddenly. No persons regret the rinfOrtunate occurrence more deeply than Drs. Spencer and Horner, and as the former had no, hand in administering the chloroform, and the cor oner's jury fully acquits the latter, no• blame can attach to either.—Pittsbuia-C.lnniercial. INATTGI7RA.IIOI4 of PazsicesiS72 COLN. Gen. Scott says in his autobiography: "The inauguration of President Lincoln, was, perhaps the most critical and hazardous event with which I have ever been connected. In the preceding two months I had received more than fifty letters, many from.; points dis tant from each other —dissuading me from being present at the event, and others .dis tinctly threatening assassination if .I dared to protect the ceremony by a military force. The election having been entirely regular, I re solved that the. Constitution should not be over turned by violence if I could possibly prevent it. Accordingly I caused to be organized the elite of the Washington volunteers, and called from a distance two batteries of horse artillery, with small detachments of:cavalry and infan try, all regulars. In concert with Congres sional Committees of arrangements, the Pres ident was escorted to and from the Capitol by volunteers—the regulars with whom Prearch ed, flanking the movements in parallel streets —only I claimed the place immediatley in front of the President for the fine companies of sappers and miners under Captain Duane of the engineers. To this choice body of men it was only necessary to say: The honor of our country is in your hands, "With a view to freedom of movement, I remained outside of the Capitol Square with the light batteries. The procession returned to the President mansion in the same order, and happily the Government was saved." Forams or PBEsmanTs.—lt is a common delusion in our country that "the Derdobratic party has ruled this Nation nearly'all. Pm time since the Constitution was adopted," &c., tic. To show how erroneous this view is, we haVe only to recall the names of our Presidents, and how they were elected—thus: Washington, John Adams, J. Q. Adams, Jackson, Harrison, Taylor, Lincoln—not as DernOcoats. Jeffer son, Madison, Monroe, Jackson, Varr Buren, Polk, Pierce, Buchanan—as Democrats.- Of these, Washington and Monroe had no party opposition worth naming. Jefferson called himself a Republican, instead of a Democrat. Jackson's first election was over the regular Democratic nominee, Mr. Crawford; bat his sm cued election was as a Democrat. Buchanan was a Federalist as long as that party existed, but kindly officiated as executioner of his old enemy by being elected as a Democrat t How false, then,•to say that "the DeMocrats have nearly always ruled the United States I" They have hhd, nominally, a bare majority of the Presidents—but the principles of Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, and tlackson bad no more resemblance to Copperheadism than light has to darkness. Tna budget of the city of Moscow for the coming year, estimated at 2,270,329 rubles, presents a deficit of 331,845 rubles; which' is to be supplied from a reserved fund. - • • - 11.
