now promenade without the fear of breaking
their limbs, on dark nights.
SUICIDE. -John Gingrich, formerly of Se
linsgrove, but lately of Northumberland; went
to Selinsgrove on Saturday, and on the even
ing of the same day committed .linicide by
hanging himself in his father's garret.

TEM dispatch announcing the glorious news
from the Shenandoah, was read from the stage
at Rouse's theatre, last night. At the 'conclu
sion of the reading three rousing cheers were
given for Gen. Sheridan, by the large 'audi
ence present. .

WE would again call the attention of our
citizens to the necessitrof connecting-them

city. Those organizations are broken up,
owing to the enlistment of their members in
the service of the country, and it is highly ne
cessary that the companies should be re-or
ganized and rendered fit for service, in time of
fire. Property holders should give this mat
ter their serious attentionply they are the
heaviest losers in time of a coliflagratiOn.

The farmers are about conipleting their
seeding. The ground has been in excellent
