WEST PENNSYLVANIA. (LUTHERAN) S
This body held its late sessions in Hanover,
Vork county. It met on Thursday of last
seek, and adjourned on Monday night of this
week. It is composed of about forty fitinisters t
and nearly an equal number of lay-delegates.
This Synod occupies the territory embraced
in Franklin, Cumberland, Adams, and York
Counties. It formerly embraced all the ter
zitory in this State west of the Susquehanna.
But since then the Pittsburg, the Allegheny
awl Central Synods have been formed and
have enrolled upon their clerical list about an
equal, if not a greater, number of Ministers
than the mother Synod. There is a great
deal el business transacted by this Synod,
daring its sessions. The utmost harmony
and good will prevailed.
SANFORD'S BENEFIT, AND LAST APPEARANCE
you a BRIEF PANIC/D.—Sanford " takes him
self away," en route for the Oil Regions, there
no doubt to speculate, as well as to please the
multitudes who will throng to welcome the

never thought a very euphonius . ,phrase,
but it is very fitting to say that—Sanfori has
been going it here, or at least the patrons
have. Sanford's nine prevails among all
classes of our community, and. the old, the
- Joung, the grave and gay—the 'nip of sentl,
meat and the man of teettion—wives, *labors
and young misses--all sing Sanford; )
,The
lamp light,. the fires, the drums play Sanford:
in fact Sanford is all over town, and yetle
leaves us without a lock from his wooly wig.
Is it fitting, gentle readers; that thus without
"more circumstance," we should shake hands
and part? Yea, go all, to-night, and take a
