various companies, and that he was once sen

He has been committed for a further h eating.
Tom; are DOG. —We learn from one wno•
witnessed the occurrence, that a small child,
belonging to one of our citizens, was attacked
by a fe:rocious dog, a day or two ago, and re
ceived serious injuries. Ifs head and face
were terribly lacerated, a portion of its
was torn off, and its eyes narrowly escaped
destruction. Bat slight hopes are entertained
of the recovery of the child. Of course the
dog was killed, but its death does not atone
for the injuries sustained by the child. ThO
owners of ferocious dogs should be compelled
to have them secured, or pay dearly for their
violations of the laws. . .

HIGH PRICE 07 Goons.—The prices of all
the necessaries as well as the luxuries of life,
have now reached a point beyond anything
ever before known in the history of Harris
burg; and the indications are that they will
go still higher, to which consumers must sub
mit. How poor men can pay rents and sub
sist their families, is a mystery to us.. There
is no necessity for the existence of ' such a
state of things, and concert of action on the
part of consumers, especially with regard* to
those things that can be dispensed with, will
soon cure the evil, by buying your goods at
