Cat. DICE Conmsa.—The Greensburg I:Jer
ald, says that this brave and worthy officer,
who arrived at home some. two weeks ago,• is
still suffering from the severe wood he re
ceived in one of the fights in the vicinity of
Spottsylvania . It was from a mine ball which
struck in the left breast below the nipple, and
glancing upon the rib lodged in the :fleshy
part some distance back. The surgeon ex-
Jirieted it; but he had to be operate'd on two
weeks afterwards for an abcess forming be--
tween the two orifices.
DISCILMED.—John Wade, John Kelly, John
- Wilson, Robert Cully, Al. Thompson,• G. E.
- House and Edward C.lrney, who were arrested
as suspicious characters a few days ago, were
discharged this morning, on condition that
they would leave the neighborhood. It is
supposed that they were professional bounty-.
jumpers. They appeared to be in charge of a
'ringleader, who stated that, he had brought
'them from Baltimore to enlist - in the arias.
But it seems singular that the would leave a
city which pays SO O bounty to conic hero
where no snob sum can be realized.
ARBEST OF A NOTOZIOOS Pronrousar.--Last
evening offi.Cer Campbell arrested, among
others, a notorious pickpocket, whose real
name-is Charlea Strafford, but gave the name'
of George Hamill on.this occasion. He has
since been identified as the individual who
robbed Mr.W.
,W. Boyer, of this city, near a
year ago, and who .was arrested for the crime
and subsequently released upon giving bail to
the amount of several hundred dollars. An
honest citizen of this city was induced to be
come his security. 00 thief, (who then gave
the name of Charles Moran,) failing to appear/
a prosecution was about to be instituted for
the amount of the bail money, but as Strafford.
is again in the hands of the officers of the law,
the gentleman who became his security has
escaped the payment of the money, much to
his gratification.. "The pickpocket - has been
committed for court, and will doubtless re
ceive the punishment he richly deserves.
