DOMER. my2.l-3t* FOUND, this morning, on the Pennsylvania Railroad, a small Diary, containing valuable papers. The owner can have the same by proving property, paying charges, and calling at THIS OFFICE. my2l-1t I==l Tae Union Prayer Meeting will be held this (Saturday) evening, in the German`Re formed Church, at a quarter of 8 o'clock. THE powder mill of Reuben Kline, near Treverton. was blown up last week. Happily no one was about the mill at the time of, the accident RETURNED TO DITTY. —Mr. F. P. Hill is at his post and is running his old train the Central Railroad of New Jersey, having made his first trip on Wednesday morning. It will be seen by reference to our tele . graphic news, that the author of the bogus.Pio claniation has been arrested and confased the crime. As we_predicted, the whole affair, originated in New York, and was go*n_up for speculation in gold and stocks. WOUNDED. — We learp that Mr. Adam Fish er, a member of the late Capt. Waterbury's company, (55th Pa. Reg.,) and whose parents reside in Paxton street, this city, was. wound ed in Gen. Butler's recent engagement, by a bullet passing through one of his arms. Mr. F. is now at Point Lookout. Wii would remind our readers that the plc" nic of the Eintracht Singing Association will take place on Monday, in Haehnlen's Woods. A band of music will be in attendance, and a gay time is cmticipated. Omnibuses will- run from Koenig's building, in Chestnut street, to convey persons to the grove. The price of. tickets has been fixed at the small sum of twenty-five cents. D'F.. Calm . Ous, Leures.—The leading papers , throughout the country teem with advertise ments from soldiers and naval officers who desire to open correspondence with ytning ladies, "with the view to matrimony."..: We would caution the ladies against correspond ing with strangers. Much evil has alieady resulted from such correspondence, in numer ous instances causing the ruin of thoughtless misses, as many a brothel can testify. Crscus.—We see by flaming posters stuck up against the stables and fences, that acir: ens will soon visit this place. At this period, if not at all other times, these entertainments ought to be regarded as nuisances. When thousands of our wounded soldiers demand our charity and attention, and every spare dollar should be devoted to aiding the efforts of the Sanitary and Christian. Commissions, it is positively criminal to waste money on these traveling mountebanks. WOOLLEN MITT. DESTEOYED.—Yesterday MOM ing, at five o'clock, as Mr. Brambach went to open his woollen mill, situated about three miles from Reading, he discovered that it was' on fire. The fire, it seems, was small at the time, and in attempting to put it out he was severely burned. As soon as the air got to the fire it blazed up, and soon the building was all in 'a blaze. The entire mill, With 'all its out houses, was burnt, involving a loss of between $55,000 and $60,000, on which there was but little insurance. The fire originated, from the boilers. • PRESENTATION OF A TESTIMONIAL TO CAFT. JOHN KAY CLEMENT.—We alluded yesterdaY to a magnificent testimonial of a service of silver, gotten up for presentation to the LPro vost Maishal of.thp Fourteenth District Last evening the ceremony- took place in the spa cious dining-room of the Jones House. The presentation speech was made by Colonel A. J, Herr, in his usual felicitous and eloquent, style, and responded to by Capt. Clement in a manner at once appropriate to the occasion, and to his friends, the donors. Afterfthe speeches, the company present sat- down to a sumptuous collation, during the enjoymentof which many good things were uttered •in mutual compliment of those present. They lived but a few hours after swallowing the fatal drug, leaving five little children, the eldest only ten years, and the youngest a babe of ten months.
