LAST evening the Provost Marshal of this
post took possession of the Inland Telegraph
office in this city, and placed the operators
under arrest. A guard was placed in charge
of the office, which still remains closed. We
learn that the offices along the entire line of
the Inland Company were seized by the mili
tary authorities - . It is supposed that this
course was adopted for the purpose of discov
ering whether the bogus proclamation pub
lished in the New York papers of yesterday,
had passed over the line.
REV. J. WAIAKER JAMISON AT DICKIXSpN
Coramox.' We understand that one of the so

Jackson,' of this city, to deliver an address at
the commencement of that college. We are
not advised as to the subject upon which our
Reverend friend will discourse, but we '-can
assure our friends of the Dickinson; that he
will make their lecture room resound with an
eloquence never excelled within those classic
precincts. The commencement will take
place on the 29th of June ensuing.
THE NINETY-THIRD REGIMENT. We learn

ARREST OF TZLEGnamErts.—Yesterda.y after
noon, Col. Ingralum's detectives arrested
eleven telegraph operators at the raincipal and
branch offices of the Independent. CoropfirLy,,
in Washington, and committed them-'to the
Old Capitol Prison. The offices are giiitided
by the Veteran Reserve Corps and theitolipOrs
taken possession of by the military authoriL
ties. The cause of these arrests is the fur
nishing of contraband, news froni tune`to
time, and especially the transmission to New
York of the bogus proclamation, purporting
to.b.ave been issued by the President, cal r ling
for four hundred thousand more men, which,
was published by the New York World yest:er
day morning.

THE PARIS Fesraoss.—" It is a little singu

which have not risen in proportion to the rise
in gold, or the depreciation of paper money,
are cloaks, id&litillftS and bonnets. These in
dispensable articles of ladies' wear, although
made of .fmer and more costly material than
ever, cost but - a trifle more than they did three
years ago, so thafthere is no excuse on the

In Paris lives the devil, the Frenchmen say,
Hence there the devil _often is to pay;
He originates all fashions' in the twinkling of

And puts up bonnets to a fabulous "high."
But this is one of the ills that husbands must

In pity for-those who have "nothing to wear."
But, reader, let me ask you, good lack,
Do you fancy an ancient bonnet or sack ?
Can you corapacently look 'upon Fashion's

Without any just or unreasonable cause?
Or can you abide anything of slatternly wear,

the first section of the act of 4th of May, 186 4 0

at Washington by the Governor be' enlarged
so that the agent and assistant agent shall

of the said agency be enlarged so as to incluCe
the collection of pay, pensions and bounties
due to Pennsylvania volunteers, without
charge or expense to such volunteers—and
such other duties as the Governor may from
time to time direct."
In thus reorganizing and enlarging the pow

ble to provide in every way for the comfort
and efficiency of our volunteers, the care of
the sick and the wounded, for sending home
the bodies of those who may die in the service,
and to perform all other services that in your
judgment may be proper and necessary for
the benefit of the citizens of Pennsylvania
now in the military:service Of the Govern
ment.
The act of Assembly to which I have refer
,
red authorizes me to appoint two clerks when
deemed necessary to be employed in the
agency. Of such necessity you must be the
judge, and
. I will appoint clerks on your nom

The success of the important work thus en
trusted you will depend mainly upon yourself,
and I feel aSso.red that you will conduct it in
such a manner as will give satisfaction to the
